The Food is AMAZING...
Have been to Giorgio on Pine a few times now - mostly recently for my birthday in August, Servers are knowlegable and friendly and the owner is also warm and friend, frequently stopping by tables to say hello. From appetizers to the specials for the evening, the food is absolutely some of the best around, impressing even some of my most picky Italian friends. The Sauteed Calamari appetizer with baby shrimp and cannellini beans was a perfect start and our entrees of lobster ravioli with crab meat and the fish special of the evening was to die for! An incredible chocolate cake dessert and a round of espresso along with the well wishes for a Happy Birthday from the owner in Italian made the night absolutely perfect.
This is a well hidden gem in a city of great food. The service was excellent and the staff was most welcoming. The dishes were delicious from appetizer to dessert. BYOB allowed my friends and me to splurge a little.
Excellent food and staff! We had dinner at Giorgio On Pine on Saturday before the Lion King and it was wonderful! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend and we will be going back!
Amazing Italian byob, great place before a show..
Maybe the best pork chop I've had in my life.
Went there for a birthday dinner date with my boyfriend, we were WAY underdressed but we were not treated any differently.
First and foremost they give you GLUTEN FREE BREAD with olive oil to start off with! this was a first for me at any gluten free restaurant. I was thrilled. got the sausage with polenta as an app and if was fantastic. I got GF penne with pancetta and fresh mozzarella in a white wine garlic sauce. it was simple but absolutely out of this world. then the owner came by and gave me some mozzarella they made that morning! creme brûlée was average.
overall would absolutely recommend this place and it is worth every penny. I dream about that penne dish. and if you're GF you'll be in heaven
Great experience. Where I come from there's no BYO. We brought our own bottle and had a great meal. Food was great, service was great, nice little place, what else could a person want. I am going back to Philly in the summer(2013) and I will definetly be dining at this gem!!!
Wonderful food with execptional service! We will be sure to visit again
Great things DO come in small packages. What a great surprise. After hearing from an attitude-laden maitre'd that a table for 4 at Mercato on Spruce Street would be close to an hour, we walked down one block to Giorgio's on Pine and found a true gem. The service was amazing and the Italian food was the best we've had since our vacation to Italy last year. We will definitely be back.
Very solid BYOB. Went there last night and had a very good meal. I had the gnocchi dish which was quite tasty. The gravy was very similar to my grandmother's which has never occured before. We had a proscuto dish for an appitizer and it was of such good quality. The prices are so reasonable it cost everybody $27 each. The cool thing is most of the menu was gluten free which isnt very common. The owner is such a nice guy he took care of us the whole night. This is a up and coming italian byob without a doubt.
This place has phenominal food and GREAT service. Well worth the long walk from our hotel. TONS of gluten free options.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and attended to by Nick, who offered amazing service throughout the evening. The setting may be small, but the ambiance was charming nevertheless, fueled by the restaurant’s reputation as a local favorite.
We kicked off our meal with the grilled sweet sausage, a delightful starter that was just the teaser. For our main courses, we ordered the rigatoni with white wine garlic sauce and the gluten-free fusilli with a creamy tomato sauce. Both were perfectly cooked pasta complemented by rich and savory sauces. The portions were not only generous but also satisfying. We even got served a complimentary dessert by Nick who was attentive enough to observe that it was a birthday special evening!
It’s important to note that this establishment operates as a BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze) venue, so guests should come prepared. However, considering the reasonable pricing, averaging around $30 to $40 per person - this is a highly recommended place. Also, making a reservation in advance is essential, as this place is perpetually buzzing with people.
This is one of those places where you wonder if you should keep it to yourself. We've been to Giorgio a few times, and the food is always very good. Reasonably priced, and as a BYO... bringing a few bottles of wine for a great meal doesn't break the bank.
The biggest issue we have, is that the meals have always been so good...it's hard to explore the menu.
Food was absolutely amazing. I would give it 10 stars. The owner is quite abrupt and rude. The young man who was assisting was so polite, the owner should learn manners from him. The waitress’ manners reflected that of the owner’s. That’s what affected the atmosphere and service. Since the food is out of this world, the lack of customer service can be overlooked. Don’t hesitate to eat here, just beware of the rude owner. Maybe it’s time to have the polite young man seat people and take a time out to relax in the kitchen.
Amazing hidden gem. Very cute. Small, authentic Italian restaurant. The couple greeting and taking your orders were amazing! They truly cared about our evening and making it a great experience. Definitely recommend calling for reservations. We were lucky to get a table the night we went. Food was fantastic and the service was amazing. We had the seafood ravioli special which was fantastic! The parmesan cheese crusted chicken with a side of spaghetti. Fabulous is the only way to describe it! The bread and warm garlic was a great appetizer provided when we got there. Oh and you can BYOB!
Our waitress’ first question was “Is anyone gluten free?” Which is always a good sign. They had a GF section on their menu PLUS a couple of their specials were available GF! I ended up getting the GF version of their lobster ravioli special and it was AMAZING!!! They also brought me my own GF bread and oil for dipping with a refill! The waitress was very attentive and the entire group thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Will definitely return on future trips to the city.
Solo dining from Jersey!
Susan and Cesar were great! I came with my own bottle of wine, and before I sat, Susan already had my bottle and was heading to the kitchen to open it.
Fresh bread and garlic were at my table before I could order...
The specials... burratta (which is my favorite) was delicious 🫠... with tomatoes, arugula, and red roasted peppers... Squisito!!
I had the rigatoni, and I asked them to substitute the pasta.... no problem!
Lastly, for dessert.... Tiramisu and cappuccino! I am beyond satisfied and will definitely come again! Thank you, Giorgio on Pine, for a great experience 🙏
Warm service from the staff. The roasted garlic oil and bread to start was delightful! And our meals were delicious. Such a great find!
It’s a wonderful place for enjoying your food and yourself. I ordered spaghetti a la vodka and it was just perfect. My waitress was so friendly and sweet. She was very attentive also. The restaurant owner was very nice and polite. I really liked them and they did my dinner more enjoyable. Everyone has to try there.
Extremely friendly place with great food. We loved the burrata cheese and the lobster ravioli. The bread and garlic and olive oil was perfect. The tiramisu was divine. Just a great experience.
Back visiting Philly for Phillies & Eagles game & found our new favorite place to dine! The food was amazing (and BYOB added bonus). We quickly became friends with Brian & our server Nic… a perfect dinner in spite of our Phillies 2 losses. We referred a local to your restaurant who lives close by & we definitely will be returning our next time back!
Byob spot with loads of character and retro Italian American cooking.
Mellow garlicky olive oil with crusty slices of bread is on the table even before you've uncorked your Chianti.
Very pleasant, cozy, and authentic feeling restaurant. It's old school. Good crusted bread, wonderful fresh prosciutto appetizer, and amazing red sauce entrees followed up by fantastic chocolate cake for dessert. Will be back!
I've now been here 4 times. Each time is amazing. Giorgio on Pine II is just as good also, same menu, and a great staff also.
The best Italian BYOB in Philly, hands down. The best deals, specials, portions, and options! If you're gluten free, there's plenty of choices for you too! So much flavor, quality, and affordability. This is the perfect place for a date night, birthday dinner, or gathering for friends out of town!
Absolutely excellent, 5 stars across the board - do make reservations in advance! Best lobster ravioli I ever had for sure, burratta with arugula and peppers. Chicken Valentina could be a lot spicier but I do enjoy spicy things - very flavorful nonetheless. Highly recommend.
Had a good friends dinner at Giorgio on Pine. Appreciated it being BYOB and for taking reservations, that made the whole evening much more enjoyable. Appetizers were great and came out fairly quickly. Our entrees were solid overall, however I wish my pasta had more kick and interesting flavors. Service was also on the slower side, however it was a very busy Sunday dinner rush. Would come back for another dinner with friends.
The food was amazing, with flavorful bites and large portions. The servers were on top of keeping my water filled, bread supplied, and checking for any other needs.
I took tiramisu to go since the meal was so filling but wanted a taste of this delectable dessert.

I might be too strung out on condiments
Overdosed on garnishments
B-Y-O-B, gotta fill up on antioxidants
Drinking every night, I might suffer incontinence
Talking Giorgio on Pine, the restaurant name's eponymous
And they sayin it smacks, I'd agree with that
Got seated in no time, that's why we reserved that
I had someone tell me get the tiramisu, oo I needed that
And I almost forgot my leftovers, well where'd I leave em at (I finished my food and didn't have leftovers)
And I'm not exaggerating things, Giorgio's got it like that
Tucked my napkin in my shirt, cause I'm just mobbin like that (I actually did)
Making a mess with saucy foods, that's not a problem I lack
Doesn't stop me from enjoying calamari like that (I didn't actually get calamari, but it's on the menu)
That's as far as I could strain those rhymes, anyways, good restaurant. The breading on my chicken was a bit soft but overall good.
What a delicious meal! We ordered the bucatini and the special sweet potato gnocchi. The bread service with garlic confit was out of this world. We were seated in Giorgio on Pine “2” which is just next door. Our server was quick and attentive. The creme brûlée for dessert was absolutely fantastic. I’m glad we tried it! They are also BYOB and happy to provide an ice bucket for your drinks. The ambience was relaxed and jovial. I would definitely recommend for a great BYOB spot!
Took my girlfriend to this spot for her birthday and we were lucky to get a table without making a reservation, will keep that in mind when going next time. The food and service is top notch with the gnocchi and chicken parm being great choices. If you're looking for an authentic Italian cuisine and setting this is one of the spots in Philly to check out
