We finished our Christmas-themed Tuesday afternoon bar crawl at McGillin's Olde Ale House in downtown Philadelphia. This place was my favorite, based solely on the holiday drink prices and selection! And the decorations were first class. My daughter loved the gin-based "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and I was blown away by the "Santa's Slipper" Old Fashion crafted with maple simple sugar. Each of these cocktails was only $10.00!! Many cheers to McGillin's Olde Ale House, its staff, and Christmas in Philadelphia! Happy holidays to all.

FUN. This place breathes the energy and character in Philly. From the moment you turn onto the narrow side street, it’s apparent you’re going to enjoy yourself. I’m in town on business and was intrigued by a proper pub. Stopped in for lunch and sat at the bar. Everyone knows Tammy, which was a good indicator who the regulars are and that they come back for a good reason. I ordered a house lager on draft & a shepherds pie (without even looking at the rest of the menu), listened to the camaraderie, and appreciated the history living inside the joint. Dating back to the mid 1800s, dawning every college pennant you could imagine, and FILLED with Christmas spirit… like I said, it was fun. Food and beer were great and I got outta there for $20. Overall a great find in downtown.

This is the type of place you immediately feel like everyone is your friend, and you want to buy everyone a round. They have amazing specials for pretty much every holiday/sports game/event. It’s the perfect mix of a rowdy college/sports bar, great food and drinks, and history. It’s a must go in the city.

Absolutely packed but full of charming. We watched part of game 7 with a lot of Philly fans. We will have to return to get a better idea of the food and beverages as it was impossible to get to the bar! But still was so much fun.

Amazing time at the oldest bar in Philadelphia. The staff were extremely friendly especially our waitress who was extremely attentive on a fairly busy night. Food is great and reasonably priced. They had open mic night when we were there but the vibe was so good we never made it upstairs. All in all this is a must visit in Philly.

Love McGillin's. This place is a classic, been around forever. Always a great time here, the atmosphere, especially around Christmas is always amazing. The staff is great and the drinks are always cold. The people are always a fun bunch. I didn't rate the food because I've never eaten here, but I always hear good things. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you haven't already. Definitely a must check out spot

Cool place that rocks when Philly sports are on live. Decent beer and whiskey list with traditional pub fare. Food was good and moderate to high in cost. The upstairs bar is a nice place for a more cozy feel. Just what you would expect and hope for from one of the 10 oldest pubs in the US.

Great Irish bar with plenty of beers to choose from and stacks of history (it’s the oldest pub in the city and state still open!). The staff are super friendly and helpful and also know their beers! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting an authentic feel of that part of the city heritage.

Highly recommend the muscles.. shepherds pie.. bangers & mash!! Hit it 2 nights in a row.. service, food.. all on point.. yeah, their wings are good .. but their Menu is awesome.. get the good stuff!! Correction.. 3 nights in a row.. The staff was VERY professional and friendly.. second night the bartender made beer runs for my stout.. apparently it’s only on tap downstairs.. I can’t recommend this place enough! And I grew up in the industry …

Philadelphia’s oldest bars and probably one of its best! If you come to Philly, definitely check this place out. It’s kind of hidden away on a side street alley so you have to know where to find it. It is very popular and you will find lots of folks in there especially at night. It’s just a classic, old-school bar atmosphere which has an upstairs bar area as well. Gets a little rowdy late but crowd is a mix of young and old. My wife got the Chicken Parmesan for a late lunch and didn’t find it to be particularly good, but I wouldn’t go there to eat anyway. Drink up!
