We had a reservation for 6pm, and were seated about a minute after checking in. The atmosphere reminds me of somewhere in the South, so great name. We ordered the cornbread & mac and cheese, to start off; both were delicious. For my entree, I ordered the low country catfish and shrimp: 10/10, I would definitely order this again. Not pictured, I ordered the strawberry jam cocktail, and it was also good; strong yet sweet. The service was also good. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Overall, this was a great experience, just be prepared to pay about $150+.

Highly recommend. Every staff we came across from the moment we step foot in the door was professional and delightful, very attentive. All the food we ordered was really really good. They were buttery and naughty but also light and fluffy so you can eat more. Very well balanced. We went for the live music show as well and that was wonderful. Cute place for date night. Bravo SOUTH restaurant and jazz club.

I had a very nice experience at South Restaurant and Jazz Club. Our server was very pleasant. The food was good and didn't take long to arrive once we ordered. I would like to give the cocktails another try. What I ordered wasn't great in the first round. Even after I ordered another one with some adjustments. It still didn't impress me. But I'm willing to try some other options the next time I visit. South is worth visiting if you have never been before.

We had a great time at South! We came here for dinner and the live show for my birthday. The atmosphere is great, we loved the decor and the outdoor seating area is beautiful! The staff was very attentive and friendly, and the food/drinks were perfectly timed with the show. I got the bourbon strawberry jam drink which was delicious! We also got the shrimp deviled eggs, the sea bass, and the short ribs with a side of collards. I thought the collards could have used more flavor, but other than that everything tasted great, and we will definitely be coming back again to try the mac and cheese and cornbread!

This place was outstanding, we came into to town from New Jersey for a event later on in the evening but wanted a nice dinner beforehand. Let me tell you something, this did not disappoint !!! From the moment we walked in the Gentleman Derek greeted us with such warming and professional hospitality, the ambience was inviting and awesome décor. The Food was one of a kind, my girl and I got corn bread, mac cheese, ox tail grits for apps and all were delicious. Entrees we got the fried chicken w/ hot honey and I got the catfish and shrimp ........ Out of this world!!! Get a extra side of hot honey and dip your catfish in it, its next level eating. We did not do the live Jazz band show but it was perfect because we could still here the live music. This place was incredible our waitress was so cool and personable, this will be an experience we will never forget and hope to be back again in the future. This was a Date Night for the books, Thank You :)

South by far is one of the best experiences in the city of Philadelphia I’ve ever had. From the ambiance to the food and l the amazing lineup of jazz events they have this is a necessary visit whenever you’re in the city. They’re open Thur-the weekend and I highly suggest making reservations 1-2 weeks ahead of time. You will not be disappointed. The service and management team is top tier! Ask for Mike when you stop in and tell him Janiro sent ya!

If you’re thinking about going to a show, DO IT! It was a fantastic experience. The food is delicious. We also had gone for a last minute dinner date, where we sat at Chef’s counter and it was plenty of space. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Great. Great. Great! I was seated 10/15 minutes early because I was there. The setting was very calm, cool and collected. The server was A1 on point! The food was fresh and tasty! I loved everything about it. The music was soft, it was too much noise for a date. I also happen to find parking out front so 10’s all way across the board! I will be returning back!

5 star experience and service. I was very excited to come to this black owned restaurant in Philadelphia. It was me and my partner 2 year anniversary so we thought we would enjoy the live Jazz show as well. As soon as we walked it we were greeted with by warm smiling faces which made us feel very welcome. The ambience was amazing and decor was very unique We arrive about 30 minutes before the show and headed over to the bar to grab a drink before the show , the cocktails were very good and the bartender was very friendly and attentive. The bar is very small , all the seats were taken so we had to stand. Once we were seated in the jazz lounge area by our waiter he suggested somethings and went over the specials. We started off with the devil eggs and cornbread. For our entrees I had the Fried Chicken and my partner had the prime rib. Everything came out quickly and at the perfect temperature. The manager, host, waiter, and the band were phenomenal. They were even nice enough to give us a shout out and complementary dessert for our anniversary. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. The hospitality here is exceptional.
