This is my second visit to The Little Lion, this time just before the Sunday brunch crowd really took off. The wait and host staff are welcoming and prompt. Interior ambiance is sharp and reflects historic Philadelphia quite well, excellent for anyone seeking a fully thought out dining experience. Now the food, I'm bias with a love of southern food, and on both of my visits, each with a different dining guest, and different selections (get the grits to share, they're exceptional!), everything is wonderful! I couldn't be more pleased with my dining experience...great after going to the new American Revolution Museum across the street.
The Little Lion is a great restaurant if you are looking for southern-inspired food and a good tap list. I have been here twice now and have enjoyed everything I've tried. I'm not usually the type of person that takes pictures of food, but c'mon check out that presentation! The happy hour is a nice addition, however, I'm a little disappointed that the appetizer portion size decreased between my first and second visits. Other than that, I would highly recommend visiting!
Had the chance to enjoy a nice brunch outside. Really good service! Food for the most part was good. I was a bit disappointed with the hash because the short rib was really dry. The pancakes we really good. And the buffalo chicken biscuits with gravy was really good. I'd pass on the fried green tomatoes.
Came for dinner around 4:00 p.m. While there were several patrons sitting outside, there was loads of space available inside. We were seated in the up stairs section which had its own bar. Our waiter was super friendly, helpful, and courteous. We both ordered the fried chicken entree, and split the fried green tomatoes appetizer. We each got our own cocktails because it was happy hour. Over all, had an extremely pleasant meal and would return .
This is a must eat at while in Philly. The service was amazingly friendly and the food was big and perfect. The buffalo chicken biscuits and gravy was perhaps the best brunch dish I have had in my life. But be prepared for a nap after.
The food was great and they had a good selection of interesting drinks. The short rib hash was fantastic. Servers were really nice, but service was slow.
Went for a nice dinner date. I like the location and atmosphere, the service was alright. The food is very good though.
Delicious food, great service. Can't wait to get back there!
Awesome for brunch! Cocktails were great, food was exceptional...wish I lived in Philly to enjoy this place more often!
Had the burger and was very impressed. The place has a nice, laid back ambience. The bar also had easy access to TVs to watch the Olympic coverage while having brunch. The service was average, but the good made up for it. The corn hoecakes were also delicious. Would definitely be a visiting again.
Great happy hour! Get their house made juices with your favorite booze! So yummy! I like the strawberry basil lemonade with gin. Chicken thigh sliders are great. Fried green tomatoes are awesome. Happy hour and dinner is better than the brunch. Servers are very nice !
First time there. We had a puppy with us who is going through some exposure to become a therapy dog. They were very good to us with having an animal along. Food and drinks were great! I don't remember our waiters name but he was very good to us with everything. Especially since we were not local. Only thing I did not like was the brunch going till so late in the day. But the chicken sandwich appetizer I had was absolutely amazing! And I love fresh cut french fries! Would def return!
My family and I came here on a Sunday afternoon and had a wonderful experience. The staff were great, our waiter was wonderful, and the food... let's just say delicious. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken with gravy and potatoes. I could of shared that meal with my son because it was so much, but no I ate it all. 👀 Overall great place to eat with family and friends.
Upscale Southern and comfort food in a soaring mission-style building, friendly service, and playful cocktail list. We stopped in for an early brunch and had some of their best dishes, the fried green tomatoes were generously portioned and delicious, as were the cheddar grits. By the time our chicken and waffles arrived, our appetites weren't as keen but we made steady work of them. If you can snag a table upstairs in the loft, go for that. There's a wonderful bar up there.
Wow - our experience here was fantastic. The restaurant is very charming, but acoustics aren't the greatest so it was a little loud (which didn't bother us). The brunch menu was awesome - we wanted everything on it. Our server was great and made some recommendations based on customer favorites. Our group of 4 got 5 different things and shared everything. All of the food was delicious. Next time I am in Philly I would love to come back here again to try some of the other items on the menu!
Went for Sunday Brunch with a party of 6. The architecture and atmosphere are a great touch. We sampled a wide selection of food and drink options and they were all great. The Beef Short Rib Hash was extremely flavourful and I recommend it. I am picky with my grits and I have to say the grits were done perfectly. I would recommend this place to others and the next time I am in Philly I would definitely go back again. Waitress was attentive and the experience was delightful.
