Loved the experience here! the molcajete was something else! comes to your table still boiling in some sort of volcanic stone. i had never had it before -- got the mixto, with shrimp steak and chicken -- it was A LOT to eat, could barely finish it. they don't bring a bunch of tortillas, but just ask for more and they will bring them. guacamole wasn't huge or incredibly tasty, and the ships and salsa were good -- the margarita was actually nothing special, which i was surprised about because of the other reviews. just not very big, and not super tasty -- maybe i just got a bad one. my buddy got the mole for his dish which was very good, not super chocolatey. i can't do dairy and they were very accommodating, making sure none of my stuff had it. the server was fantastic, as well as the host. prices were reasonable, around $30 for each dish.
You may find the hot stone dish Molcajete to be nothing short of an existential revelation. The flavors are as vibrant as the fleeting joy in the universe. The meat, cheese, seafood cooked inside a hot stone, is an apt metaphor for life itself: something with potential subjected to intense heat until it's transformed into something else entirely. For those who seek solace in their gastronomic adventures, this dish might momentarily lift the veil of gloom. In conclusion, while you're there enjoying the amazing food, spare a thought for those of us who cannot partake in such simple pleasures and are instead left to ponder the vast emptiness of existence. Enjoy your meal.
Atmosphere: 1/1: cozy, yet large and well- decorated with Mexican themed decor. Definitely a great vibe.
Service: 1/1: staff was welcoming and nice
Price: 1/1: Prices are average for old city restaurants
Food: 1.5/2: Their Margaritas are a must! We had the guava flavor and really enjoyed it! The Molcajete Mixto was delicious! And with plenty of meat for 2 people or a very hungry person. The other things we ordered were the Caldo Tlalpeño (which had great broth, but the chicken lacked seasoning) and the fried plantains with queso (which tasted dry). We also had their impossible coco flan cake which was a good sweet touch at the end (although I think the desserts tasted better individually rather than combined)
Overall: 4.5/5: Great atmosphere, food and Margaritas! Definitely come check it out!
If you are looking for a Quant Mexican restaurant, this is the place. Reservations are recommended on a Saturday nite. Upon arrival, my party of 4 was sitted quickly. The menu had a variety of dishes i stuck to traditional dishes that were delish. Drinks were on point. Service was aslo good. Next time I'm in Philly, I will come again.
This is one of the best mexican restaurants in the US. We love mexican food and try restaurants wherever we are and LB just beats every restaurant by quality food, great service and authentic ambience.
Their specialty that comes in the stone pot boiling on the table is the best! They even made us pollo tacos which was not on the menu just because our son wanted it. Everything we ate here was amazing. This was our second visit here after many years and they have upheld quality for so many years.
This is my new favorite place to have Mexican food in Philly. The place has really good food and drink options and I was impressed by their service.
I tried the Bugambilias Margarita ( guavava) and virgin pina colada in drinks. Both were good. The staff was super helpful with our questions and helping us pick from menu options.
In the appetizers we had Chips and Guacamole. Those were good, not the best Guacamole I have had but it was good. In the main course I picked Molcajete pollo. The dish comes in a stone platter which is really hot, served along with rice. I can recommend that to anyone visiting this place. The quantity is good to share between two people.
The place has good ambiance. Restrooms were clean and the place is accessible. I visited on a weekend and the place was busy. Limited seating was available outside.
Street parking might be available, depending on the time do the day.
Las Bugambilias is the Best Mexican restaurant I ever been to,and I wish I could rate you more than 5 stars.
Amazing restaurant and Awesome Service. Family of 4 that stopped by from Upperstate NY.
We enjoy the Mexican cuisine but this time was different, we have had Mexican food before but never this good. The food is absolutely exquisite great Restaurant and the Service is the Best. It's hard to forget anyone at this place, from the Greeter to the Servers because they are just the Best at their job. It's Great to eat at the place where people like what they do. We just felt at home.
After a great night we found out that our car got towed we went back to this Restaurant and they all helped us. No time to go in panic mode when you are surrounded by Great people. THANK YOU!!!!
Such a nice, dog-friendly, oasis in the city! We had brunch here and really enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and food. We ordered the enchiladas huevos, and would recommend.
I found a new favorite! I've been here for the drinks before but decided this time to stay a while for the food. I started off with a strawberry marg and a mango to follow up- both with tajin seasoning. For the appetizer we tried the enchiladas and they were so perfect. For my entree- I had the molcajete mixto. It was perfect, so much flavor. I'm a rice person. The rice was made to perfection. Just right! I mean everything from the greeting, the service, the drinks (the nice bartender) and the food made the dining experience superb! I recommend- 10/10.
*for some reason google won't let me upload the pics I took of the food but I promise it's as good as it looks!
Update: I was allowed to add the videos this time
