Really good service, drinks and vibe but the food wasn’t all the way there. Bread portion was kind of small - though the butter was good. Burrata with frisée was really good. We had to send the wings back due to a lack of salt and far too long on the grill - the kitchen did expedite another order which were much better. Crispy potatoes and friend chicken sandwich were both really good. Broccoli and rib-eye were really good, though didn’t come out together, which was odd. Tried several cocktails which were all good and the cheesecake dessert was a banger

I finally understood why this place was so popular and was all over Instagram! My boyfriend was living temporarily in the area and we would walk past this place all the time! We tried all the happy hour foods (no pics) and they were all very tasty! We also got the burger, wings, squid and oyster, and I will say that the squid was our absolute favorite! Just the perfect amount of char, would very much recommend!

Still amazing! Great staff, and delicious food! We love it here! Stopped in for dinner while in the city for a concert. What a fun and unique experience! Everything in the restaurant from food to cocktails is at least touched by the wood stove. We had cocktails (charcoal smoked old fashioned), Octopus, a beef shin, and charcoal cooked potatoes with spicy chili aoli. Everything was delicious! The service was excellent as well. Definitely put this place on your list!

My team and I were in town for a conference and chose Ember & Ash for dinner. We had the absolute best experience. Our cocktails were beautifully crafted, the service was attentive, knowledgeable and personable. The food was... perfect. We got the oysters, octopus, wings, burrata for starters. While everything was great, the octopus was cooked to perfection. For my entree, I had the ribeye and was very happy with the preparation and flavor. For desert we tried their homemade sorbet, cheesecake, and funnel cake. If you're in the area and looking for an intimate restaurant that takes great pride in their ingredients, I highly recommend Ember & Ash. I included a photo of the head chef, Scott in his open kitchen.

Amazing experience bringing in clients from out of town. Food, drinks and service were top notch. Beef shin is a must. Go to spot in the city.

The dish from Ember & Ash centered around wood burning stove and smoking ingredients from land and sea. We could even see the wood burning stove from the first floor dining area, which was fun. Seeing images of the restaurant interior, I was a little worried if the space was going to be little too tight, but it wasn't at all. Although the restaurant was fairly busy, all seatings were comfortably placed. I would recommend coming here with larger group like four to six, as their main entrees were impressively large family styles. In their menu, it almost didn't seem to have a clear boundary between appetizers and entrees; Instead, portions for the first half were much smaller, which would be suitable to share when you were dining in for two. We were just two of us, so we didn't try fun-sounding-dish like "Pig's Head" and "Whole Fried Fish", but they all looked really exciting. Amongst smaller plates we tried, "Octopus" was our big hit with its unique taste with the twist from turnips. "Mussels" were also interesting and worth trying. Lastly, I loved less sweet and slightly more bready "Basque Style Cheesecake" with strawberry syrup-- It reminded me of cheesecakes I used to eat.

OVERALL SCORE AT THE BOTTOM! Let’s just start by saying they have one of the biggest cheesecakes I’ve ever had! The drinks were on point. We had many old fashioned drinks in Philly and this one was one of the only ones that was up to par. The ribeye steak was unreal, melt in your mouth unreal. It was one of the greatest ribeyes I had part in eating. The blackened wings were super delicious. It’s super charcoaled winch I loved I think they use some type of black seasoning because the flavor was awesome. Zucchini pasta was awesome. Pasta was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Ambience was awesome, great date night spot! The lights were super dim so it was hard to take pictures so I apologize for the low lighting. My overall score I give this spot is an 8.7! Definitely need to make the reservation. It was worth it. Staff was awesome and kind, you won’t regret trying! Osca Lobsta Out!

I liked the idea of the restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. Each dish was unique, simple, but full of heart. It stood out of their own and you would be hard pressed to find similar dishes elsewhere. The chicken was a cooked to perfect with an excellent crispy skin, but a little bland. Although if you combine each bite with the pickled lettuce, it was a bombshell. The service was average, edging towards the low end. I was looking forward to the octopus dish I ordered which was clearly forgotten but no amends were made. Overall, promising with room to grow.

Everything that came out from the kitchen was exceptional. Standout was the octopus, Roasted broccoli, Gemelli with an oxtail ragu, and the crispy pork cheek. Wine list is small but each offering is thoughtful and delicious. Highly recommend!

As of Sept 5th, 2021, this is my favorite Philly restaurant. “Peasant food” is the concept, which means they make awesome tasty food with ingredients not too commonly used/consumed by the mainstream public (liver, tongue, skate, lamb, etc). Everything tastes good and the presentation of the food is top class. AND, the staff is super friendly. Final verdict: 10 out of 5 stars.
