I had prickly pear, and avocado gelati. The two flavors are a great combo. The iced coffee is wonderfully strong.
At this place you can try any Ice Cream before making your order. I tried the pistachio ice cream which is delicious and has low fat. I recommend it. The others Ice Cream were too sweet for me since I prefer low sugar desserts. The staff is very friendly and the place has an old feeling attached to it. Overall decent place
My review is biased. I only tried 3 flavors.
Decor: 4/5
-lots of seating
-some of the tables might be sticky from gelato
Service: 3/5
-only one guy serving gelato and checking out.
-Expect a wait especially when you can have samples
Gelato: 4.5/5
-There are just so many flavors that I wanted to sample them all
-Jamaican coffee caught my eye and it had a strong coffee taste. If you're a coffee lover, I'd recommend the Jamaican coffee
This is the best gelato place I've been to in Philadelphia. They have a great variety of flavors. Some are consistent while others are rotated. You can try as many as you like before ordering anything. My favorite is the pistachio flavor.
They also have other café fare, though I've only tried the coffee, which was good. The prices are competitive.
AMAZING gelato. So many different, creative flavors (Thai Coconut Milk, Amish Sweet Cream) as well as tried and tested favorites (Dark Chocolate - my favorite, Hazelnut, Coffee). Cookies/brownies and coffee are great as well. Service is friendly, and they let you ask for as many gelato samples as you want (get as many as you can!). Environment is cozy, comfortable and quiet, great for studying or coffee breaks.
Capogiro is the culinary highlight of Philadelphia, and it's at the top of my "must do" list for friends visiting the city. I've tried ice cream and gelato at plenty of other places touted as outstanding but none come close to Capogiro. What makes Capogiro so amazing is the depth of flavor that they achieve, and the flavors themselves are amazing as well. Fig, dark chocolate, and chocolate hazelnut are some of my all time favorites, but be sure to ask for a few samples when you go. They're always coming up with great new ones.
The baristas here are very nice. Got my coffee refilled then someone asked me if I'd like another one. Sometimes the music can be a bit loud especially at night, but overall I quite like it here. It's also open till midnight and has a nice broad glass-wall view.
The service was OK and the gelato was amazing! It was crowded when I went on Sunday night. There were people just sitting there I assume enjoying the Wi-Fi. I wonder if they're OK with people sitting there for hours if they don't buy anything. We had to sit in the last three seats at the bar. It looked the people behind us had to leave to eat the gelato since there weren't seats available. There were lots of college students here because of the university across the street. The parking is street parking with an expensive lot nearby. It's quite expensive, but I hope to come back in the future to enjoy another flavor.
The Gelato has always been good but recently I've discovered the La Colombe coffee is also fantastic. Really no reason not to visit if you like this sort of thing and your in the area.
you couldn't find a more crowded place on a summer's night and for good reason. the constantly changing flavors are to die for and you might die waiting in the line that seems to have no organization or starting point. don't forget to taste a couple flavors before making your final combo of scoops. the servers are more than happy to oblige.
