One the best experience I had. The bartender was awesome and friendly. The chef was on the point with every dish that we ordered and he even came to talk us and make sure we were OK. Definitely recommend this place to anyone

The chicken and biscuits was awesome! They made alligator nuggets for a special and they were the best! And then for dessert there was bananas foster bread pudding out of this world. Highly recommend this establishment! Can't say enough.

Awesome place to belly up to the bar and chat to the locals or sit at a table....either way the owner, bartender and all the people there treated you like you’ve always been friends. The food.......EXCELLENT. We can’t wait to go again. This place is a go again and again kinda place.

Authentic New Orleans cuisine. Their cheesecake is made fresh and is soooooo fluffy. The service was great. The portion size was great, definitely had enough for leftovers. Can’t wait to go back.

Finally found my spot for Cajun style food! Everything was amazing. My only regret is I didn’t have room for dessert.

This restaurant was delicious and the people were fabulous. This is a hidden treasure in Philadelphia. The BBQ chicken was amazing, the buffalo chicken was beyond good, and the kids chicken fingers were the best ever.

Fabulous neighborhood restaurant in Queen Village. Everyone feels at home there. My favorites are the BBQ ribs & chicken! My mom’s is the oyster po’boy. We don’t miss the carrot cake for dessert. Don’t miss it...you will return again & again for that New Orleans style home cooking!

I found this place on Facebook and thought it was a good place to try, especially since we love Cajon food. We came on Thursday. My husband loves loves gumbo and jambalaya and I can honestly say he was not disappointed. Food was very good, crabcakes (yummy), Waiters/barmaid very nice. We will definitely be back, in a few days.. lol.. seriously.

- great brunch today! Everything was excellent - shrimp and grits was as good as you can get on the Quarter. Bartender was super friendly and made a killer Bloody Mary. Highly recommended.

My husband and I had dinner at Catanoula last night and it was wonderful. The food was an amazing food adventure, the bar was cosy and the staff very friendly. We started out with the fried green tomatoes. They were out of green tomatoes so we had fried red tomatoes. Very good. I had 'The big easy bayou' which was loaded with rich seafood and spicy sausage. It came with hushpuppies and cornbread. Both were a delightful surprise. The hushpuppies were light, flavorful and not greasy. The cornbread was very good. Instead of being too sweet, it was nicely corny and had a subtle brush of cinnamon. Lovely. It came with coleslaw which was really good too. My Husband had the 'Bourbon chicken', which was 'fall of the bone' tender and rich without being greasy. It came with a lovely veggie rice concoction and bacon fried cabbage. So good. We got a pulled pork po'boy to go, for our son, which he thoroughly enjoyed too. We shall return.

We came across this spot on Groupon and decided to give it a try. The "Girls" and I were out for the day doing our annual downtown Christmas tourist spot visits and after a long day we came here. What a delightful surprise. The food as excellent. Everything was fresh. Ashley, the manager, was right on top of things. We even got a visit from the chef. Will definitely be back here again!

Our local.... When you move to a city, the hunt is on for your local...and when you've moved to Society hill / Queen's village...you've got a lot of places to choose from. We started out trying to be regulars at a few of the pubs, but most were either too dirty, greasy, loud or just lacked that atmosphere that made you want to come back again and again. Unfortunately for my pocketbook, Catahoula has that atmosphere, hands down the best wings in the city, a killer gumbo, and an excellent selection of craft brew...current favorite is th Alagash black, trying to sneak in as a black IPA, more like a vanilla porter but oh so good.

Great atmosphere, excellent food, Kegs and eggs on Saturday is awesome...so happy to have this place in our backyard.

After actually being in New Orleans, I didn't want to see any more New Orleans style food. But I kept telling E about it and she wanted some. Now with months having passed since my visit to the big easy, it was time to trek through the snow to check out Catahoula . So I totally didn't think Catahoula would be where it is. I pictured it being near other restaurants, other nightlife, other shops. But it is really all by itself, except a funeral home nearby. Otherwise, it's just houses people, just houses. I also didn't know it would be so teeny! There are only a few high-top tables and then the bar. It's seriously small, or as they say, intimate. The gumbo and the crawfish bisque. This is considered a cup, but it sure looks like a giant bowl to me. It's really sizeable. I can't even imagine how big the bowl must be. The bisque was delicious. The gumbo was ok, it was a bit too intense for me. Here are the hush

The shrimp and grits are spectacular. My husband loved the crawfish. The hush puppies themselves are delicious, though I personally preferred them stand-alone instead of in the dip stuff they came in.

If it wasn't for the freezing tempatures outside, you would have thought you were sitting in a corner restaurant in the French Quarter. From the minute we entered we were made to feel welcomed and everything after was excellent. Food authentically delicious and great service. The menu has lots of great options to keep you coming back for more

Perhaps one of the best kept secrets in Philly. You will never have a bad meal at Catahoula. Highly recommend the shrimp & grits (best in the city, hands down). Top notch food packaged with a great "at home" neighborhood bar vibe. Staff is excellent and chef is an underated star of this joint.

Service was great and receptive. The gumbo had a sour taste to it but the beignets are good and draft selection is good

I have to say that the food and drinks here are phenomenal. Too bad it couldn't save the worst first date I've ever had in my whole life. On the plus side Adam the bartender was incredible and so sweet. He was full of suggestions and I highly recommend the Purple Haze beer (6.00) and the Shrimp and Grits (with egg on top if you go earlier then dinner time) and the chicken and waffles with cornbread. The cornbread was so dense and delicious it was like a heavenly cake of joy in my mouth. If you need any more proof of how good the food and drink are here- just make note that I left a 10 dollar tip. That's how good the service and meal was. So good I couldn't even take a photo before cause I was too keen to get into it. Oh yeah. It was THAT good.

What a hidden gem!! The BEST brunch menu in the city. The flavors are amazing and unique, clean dishes with real ingredients. We've been here a few times and it never disappoints. They get creative with the menu and will even make you whatever you want (within reason). Fantastic prices and bomb ass grilled cornbread- MUST get. Perfect ambiance for a chill cozy meal. Highly recommend!

Great atmosphere and definitely hands down customer service was on 10. The female waitress was like the best waitress ever!!! Anytime she was able to attend to the entire restaurant alone on top of remaining patient and attentive to ALL customers... I just think that she was superb. The food was awesome and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I could not think of one complaint at all. Even the cocktails were the best!!!

The place is very small when it's too cold to sit outside. But we were happy to wait for a table while having a drink. It was worth the wait. Been wanting to try this place for a while since my oldest and I have been to New Orleans a few times and LOVE the food. He and I agreed that the food at Catahoula was just like the food in New Orleans. We liked everything we tried. Drinks were very good too. Only issue is parking but that's just how that area is. My other kids and husband who don't normally care for creole food like everything as well. We will definitely be back. Wish they were opened for lunch so I can pop in when I go to IKEA. Highly recommend checking out this little gem on S Front St. Looking forward to sitting outside when the weather warms up a bit. They the St. Charles Martini and the shrimp and grits. I'm not a grits kinda girl but these were soooo good! Would love to tell you how the hush puppies were but my kids gobbled them up before I could try them. So I'd say they were pretty good.

Friendly staff, friendly chef, delicious food. The chef came out and personally told our table that he would "cook us a meal so good we'd be scared". The service was excellent and the food was spectacular - come here if you're looking for a home cooked meal with a Cajun flair.

The food and service in this establishment is in a word, EXCELLENT!!!! However there was one small issue thaty boyfriend and I had and that is largely due to how delicious the meal was, the portion of our jambalaya could have been a little bit more. Nevertheless, everything that my boyfriend and I ordered was simply yummy. So if you are hungry and looking for a good place to eat give Catahoula a try, you won't be disappointed!Special note ** the coleslaw was so good that I ordered a side of it to go.

My wife and I stopped in here before dinner for a quick drink and we were very pleasantly surprised. Catahoula seems like a fairly unassuming neighborhood bar, which it definitely is, but the bartender we experienced was extremely warm and welcoming, and we felt like regulars almost immediately. They have a decent beer list and the prices seem very reasonable. We didn't eat, but they have a good looking menu, and even have a number of vegetarian and vegan options. The New Orleans theme is loose, but present. They have a few New Orleans beers, a list of classic New Orleans cocktails, and the food menu also definitely reflects this theme. This is the type of neighborhood bar that makes me wish we lived in the neighborhood! It was great, and we look forward to stopping in again.
