Went to try their famous and recommended vegan chicken cheesesteak because when in Philly... Was definitely not disappointed, it was excellent and I would recommend you give it a try. Can't comment how close it is in taste to the real thing since being vegetarian, I've never had one but definitely this sandwich is something I'll be craving in the future!
Stopped in to check out the desserts I had heard about and boy am I glad I did! I had the brownie cheesecake and the peanut butter chocolate cake. Vegan desserts TO DIE FOR! Super friendly and helpful staff as well!
Ok so I'm not a vegetarian, or a vegan, and while my real estate office is very close to here, I had never considered eating here before a client recommended it to me. I was very skeptical, and ordered a chicken cheese steak to go.
It was fantastic!! I wouldn't say it was identical to a chicken cheese steak, but it was really good! I was actually picking up pieces of "chicken" that fell out to keep eating.
Will definitely go back, and my views on vegan cuisine are forever changed.
Food was good. Service was..not. The first person to ring us up clearly didn't want to be there. He took our order then as soon as the oncoming person came, he left, and we had to give our order all over again. The staff didn't seem knowledgeable about the ingredients and it was hard to distinguish what was vegan and what wasn't. Food was great though!
One of my favorite veg spots in philly. Almost always go with the chicken cheese steak with vegan cheese and mayo with a side of sriracha. The pepper steak is also pretty amazing.
I love Govinda's! It's become a tradition to get this every New year's day. This year I got the meatball sub that did not disappoint
Got veggie chicken cheese steak was good, bread could be better... great service
Vegetarian/Vegan take on Philly style sandwiches. It did taste a little different but my sandwich was cold and I was expecting a little more given the hype.
This place is amazing. They're vegetarian chicken Philly cheese steak is amazing. It's one of the best things I've eaten in Philly.
The staff is also super nice. The food came out quickly, correctly, and at a good price.
If you go there, do yourself a favor and get one of their teas. They're very refreshing
My grandmother has been going here for years. I ate here with her in middle school and with my friends in high school. She and my mother love it. My mother is not vegan or vegetarian. She just loves the food. And whenever my family from out of town visits, they love it as well. I haven’t tried everything but what I have eaten was always delicious and filling. The soups are delicious. Their “chicken cheese steak” is bomb! And the service is always polite.
Vegans and vegetarians would absolutely love this place. Taste just like a chicken cheese steak.
If you're a vegetarian you definitely should go here for lunch. Great "chicken" that's super tasty and chewy. They have a decent amount of other stuff too but I always end up getting the chicken tender or chicken cheese steak. All the reviews about this place taking forever are sadly true though. Sometimes on a good day I'll get my food in 5~10 min but other times I'll be waiting 20 ~ 25 min. However, if you have time to wait definitely check this place out!
My bf and I went to Govinda’s on our way out of town. Pros: Food was incredible we got the chicken cheesteak that was out of this world
- Service was very friendly
- place was clean and well kept
Cons: we arrrived at 11:15 and they were still opening up. Register had no cash, they were mopping, chairs were up, and they didn’t have any pizza because the oven wasn’t ready. In my mind when you open your doors you should be ready to serve your entire menu.
I still 100% would recommend but maybe get there for a late lunch so they are ready.
