Food was fresh and neatly served. Enjoyed the experience and would 110% recommend visiting.
They mixed up our order slightly and the lentil soup was tasteless. Everything else was amazing. Great appetizers! Additionally, I asked for food so spicy that I would cry, but the tears never came.
The dosa was raw, and should be told to make crispy. There is an extra charge for sambar, which is not mentioned, but all in all, a good experience, with lovely South Indian food.
Amazing authentic Indian street food!! ❤️ My go to place whenever I miss India. The owner is really nice and funny.
Fresh and tasy
Food is great just like indian Street food or dhaba style. Service and location is also positive.
I had their chicken tikka masala, never had it before and it was really good. Hit the spot. Lots of rice to chicken ratio though.
Where do I begin; the food is amazing with gluten-free and vegan options...together!!! I think this place is now run by a different chef, who has designed NEW dishes that are fresh and flavorful with some unique Western twists, leaving your mouth watering for more! My favorites are the Idili (steamed rice cakes) that is served with a dairy free vegetable/lentil soup, a small salad and delicious chutney AND the Dosa-thin rice paper filled with almost anything you desire(I like the one with potatoes) and also served with the dairy free soup, chutney and salad. If you're worried about the dish being too spicy or not enough; you can select the heat range to what you prefer and it comes out spot on. Number 1 reason why I'm giving this place 5-stars is the friendly service; you can have great food but if the service stinks you likely won't frequent it---the service was great and the staff super helpful, warm and welcoming. True story-tonight was a very cold evening and after working 12 hours I finally left the office around 8:45pm. I was completely fried, tired and just spaced out after ordering my meal to go. The owner/chef likely recognized this and offered me a cup of homemade Indian coffee and to two other customers--it was the perfect pick me up I needed and also soothing from the biter cold I had just come from. Now here's the best part...the coffee was amazing!!!i You could tell it was definitely homemade b/c I tasted fresh cardamom and a bit of ginger...not sure, but it was so good, almost like it could be its own dessert!!! I immediately said out loud, you have to put this on the menu and the other two customers (who weren't Indian--I make a point here b/c most non-Indians I've met aren't fans of Indian style coffees) also agreed!!! I don't give a lot of reviews but when I'm in a place that goes above and beyond like this one, and has amazing food/friendly staff; its important to give thanks and appreciation by sharing the positive experience. Wishing this place great and continued success--I highly recommend it!
Quick, cheap, and authentic Indian food. Great place to pop in for a quick bite. Service is attentive and fast. The establishment as a whole is very clean and well lit. The food is top notch in my admittedly not expert opinion. Would definitely come here again.
This is THE place for high quality and authentic Indian food, specially DOSA!! The recent menu additions of north Indian food is mouth watering too. Specially the owner gives such a personal touch and helps you chose the best item of the day makes it super easy and quick. I work at least a mile away but never hesitate to walk that long when I crave for good Indian food.
Highly recommended 👍🏻
Yummy food at a fair price. We went there on a winter evening about 7 and there were a few patrons, but not lines. My husband requested extra spicy Goat Saag and loved every bite. (Even sweating through them.) I enjoyed my Chicken Korma. Both dishes came with rice and plenty of sauce. My naan was also good. I liked my dish, but my husband loved his. He was thoroughly satisfied at the end of his meal. I kind of wish we lived in Philly so we could visit there again.
I love love love this place! It was one of my favorite places to grab takeout during my lunch break. The guy at the counter is so friendly and I couldn't get enough of the Dal Tadka (great option for my vegan friends). I would actually get cravings for it. Highly recommend!
Delicious Indian food. It is hard to find good Indian food and Philadelphia Chutney Company has proved themselves to be worthy. There is another place in Center City called Veda or something like that which does not taste like an authentic Indian food. Indian food in US is expensive anyways so you want to get it from a place that is worth your money.
I entered this with less expectations. Ordered Goat biryani and it was really great. Friends ordered other veg items and they had mentioned that the items are great and spicy too. But it took long time to get them. Other than that, no other compliant.
I work a few blocks away and eat here frequently. 10 stars if you ask me.
I've tried multiple dishes from the menu and I always leave happy and full. This is by far the best Indian cuisine you will find in Center City Philadelphia.
Ignore the knit-picking comments and try the place for yourself. Service might not be 100% all the time but it's only because they cater to such a large crowd (due to popularity). Management is always pleasant and will correct your order if needed.
DELICIOUS!!!
Philadelphia chutney company has the best flavor of the Indian restaurants around.. Any item you order of the menu has “THE” unique taste that you expect for that dish. Service is always quick and the restaurant has a homely ambience.. A must try , if you are looking into Indian food..
This place is excellent, even if confusingly named. I first went in fully expecting to walk out with a few jars of some amazing chutney from Philadelphia, only to discover that there was zero chutney on premises, or at least none that I could see (and I was too chicken to ask about it). There was, however, first class Indian food. As a recent vegetarian I was pleased to see a variety of vegetarian menu items, and V5 - my favorite so far - smoky eggplant with onions - was amazing. Food service is great too, although expect it to be a little slow during busy hours. Food is served in to-go containers, making it easy to grab the stuff when you're done, although how I resisted not eating everything I'm still not sure. Make sure to get some poori (bread) with your meal and dip into the main dish. Rice is served with the meal as well, and plenty of it, but using poori as the vehicle for the curry adds a certain roundness otherwise absent. It's a favorite lunch spot now, whenever I'm in Philly.
Deliciously Dosas in Philly Center City. Been going here for 7 years now and our office has catered parties from them . Food is always fresh and quality and quantity has been consistent over the years
In recent years they have added fusion and North Indian food to their South Indian menu . IMO South Indian food is their forte and they should add some more traditional South Indian dishes to the menu.
