Love this place! My husband and I went here for dinner with our two toddler boys. They enjoyed the decor and the duck fat fries! The grilled octopus was so delicious and tender. The duck fat fries are to die for. The crab cakes were delicious and you can see and taste the crab meat! The short ribs with mash just melts in your mouth. Their fried oyster was nicely battered and mouthwatering! Oh not to mention their raw oysters were very fresh. Writing this review is making me want some duck fat fries! I highly recommend this place to everyone!!
A mother's day gift from my daughter landed us at Pine Fish, in center city (1138 Pine Street) for happy hour drinks and apps today. The place had a cozy feel with almost a Bohemian decor. Tables, and even a couch and ottomans surrounding a coffee table in the front of the restaurant, so different seating options. The happy hour menu (pictured) features $5 wines and martinis,( You had me at $5 martini). We had the following:
(4) clams on the half shell, Huge and fresh
(16) oysters on the half shell, sweet and delicious
**mignonette, cocktail sauce, mango soy sauce
Buffalo Shrimp (3) dusted with almond flour and fried, on a sweet buffalo sauce with a mound of blue cheese as a base
Soft shell sliders, good, not outstanding
Scallops, watermelon ceviche--plump scallops, with a base of small slices of watermelon salad--wonderful.
Crab balls, (3) with a remoulade sauce
Smoked trout croquettes (3) served with a creamy flavorful sauce
"Fried" cauliflower with raisins and pine nuts--not a fan favorite
Our server, Jessica was delightful and friendly. My daughter noted that she didn't care for the way the manager (or owner?) spoke for his staff.
As I was my daughter's guest, I didn't look at the bill but my guesstimate is $70 before tip. We will definitely return!
A great, cozy, little neighborhood gem. Our new favorite place for an early Sunday dinner. Personable staff. Affordable and approachable wine list. Excellent food. Try the grilled octopus, mussels in red thai curry, clams casino and whole fish special. You will not be disappointed!
I visited Pinefish for the 1st time and I absolutely enjoyed everything! My food was delicious! Loved the happy hour menu.. That is the reason I decided to go. My oysters and clams were fresh and served on a cute, fun little plate. My shrimp and zucchini skewers were excellent and my martini took me where i wanted to be. The decor was intriguing, my server Jessica was awesome and made my 1st visit pleasant. I will be back!
Thank you Peter and Ritchie for your hospitality! Awesome food! Each dish better than the next! Fried jumbo oysters with smoked mayonnaise, delicious. Ritchie' s famous carrot cake a perfect ending. Great wine and beer selections as well. No Anheiser horse piss here!
Went for the happy hour stayed for dinner. There was one issue with an oyster that should not have been served, it was quickly replaced. The small plates were very good especially the seared tuna and foie gras. We also enjoyed the crab cake and the octopus. Great service from a friendly staff.
The ambience was cool. Shabby chic and comfortable. The food was out of this world good! (Crab balls were great just be careful of shells) and our server was so kind, informative and attentive. This is now one of our new favorite spots. We will definitely be back and recommended to our friends and family!!
Outstanding food - so fresh and flavorful, stellar cocktails, superb wine list, impeccable service, and enchanting decor. A must visit restaurant for all, especially foodies. I was ultra impressed to learn they use an immersion circulator to sous vide the octopus and steak dishes. They have a great happy hour and weekly specials that are not to be missed!
Fabulous festive meal.our server, Issac was terrific and right on point. Every dish was delicious, we're going back!
Awesome happy hour. Shrimp and zucchini skewers were off the hook. Won’t be disappointed with the small plate Salmon and
Slice Sirloin steak. Leslie the bartender was super friendly.
Top notch meal. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and I want to pretty much order everything on the menu.
Highly recommend!
This place had an happy hour with really good small dishes to share with friends. The servers were great, the food was great and if I lived in Philly, it would be a go-to place.
Went for brunch with the Prince of Zumundah and had the scallops Benedict. Every drop of that plate was EXCELLENT! Kudos to the chef.
This was my first visit to Pinefish and I greatly enjoyed it. The decor was warm & welcoming. I started with happy hour duck fat fries and oysters which were both absolutely delicious. The restaurant week menu had a great variety of menu items. I enjoyed the ceasar salad. The short rib was absolutely amazing. It was delicious and incredibly tender and the mashed potatoes served with it had a perfect velvety texture and creamy taste. I didn’t care for the desert but overall had a wonderful experience. The whisky cocktail on the RW menu was delicious as well. I definitely enjoyed my visit and will be back in the future

Highly recommend this fabulous dining experience! Great Bang Bang Shrimp followed by Scallops and Polenta . Delicious. Lovely atmosphere. Good food, loads of choices, Happy Hour until six o’clock! Lots of activity with guests enjoying foods and sharing the high notes of their selections. Signing off for dessert.. I heard the carrot cake was fabulishious!
I absolutely adore this place! Great hospitality, good location! And GREAT FOOD! My friends and I come here all the time. I think I might have just ordered just about everything off the menu! From the scallops to the mussels, or Pan seared salmon. to the Brussel sprouts! Everything has been delish! Oh and let’s not forget the blueberry pie! YUM🤤
Enjoyed Happy Hour yesterday! A little bubbles, some pork belly, oysters, clams and shrimp. The garlic butter sauce on the skewers was delicious
And a great spot for a quick bite if in a rush - quick, friendly service
What a lovely restaurant experience from before I arrived til we left. We had a reservation at 7:00, and last minute I needed to change it to 8:00. There were no reservations left online so I called and spoke with Leslie. She was so understanding and kind and told me to not rush (had to pick up my son from airport and bring him to dinner with us). The arugula salad was fresh and delicious; clam chowder was chock full of clams; the surf and turf came with twin lobster tails and filet mignon that was cooked perfect to temperature; the crab cake had scallops and shrimp and lump crabmeat in it so it was a bit different than a traditional crab cake, but very tasty nonetheless and I loved how the edges were crispy; even all the desserts were delish: we got key lime pie, chocolate cake and the standout dessert was the blueberry pie (get it, you won’t regret it!). The staff was attentive and all so nice. It was our first time there and Can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu, especially the whole grilled branzino!
OMG...this was a GOOD surprise. You definitely need reservations. Very cute and rustic atmosphere. The food was AMAZING and very reasonably priced. Would definitely come back. And then we tried dessert....WOW!!!
The Pinefish in Philly is a quaint little restaurant dimly lit with great food & service. We had Lobster Benedict w/potatoes. It was seasoned perfectly, the chef allowed the Lobster to stand on its own. I highly recommend.
Awesome happy hour with delicious $1 shrimp which you peel yourself, and more. The oysters were a little grainy, but the drinks were a good deal and the food overall was great.
Wonderful atmosphere and beautiful decor. The food was incredible from the oysters to the grilled seabass and seared tuna. Emily our waitress was friendly and attended to our every need. Overall a fantstic evening.
Unique little brunch spot! The inside was a little dark for brunch time though. The service was great and the food was delicious. I ordered the BLT Lobster, but asked for no bacon. The lobster was very fresh and the sandwich overall was great. The only reason I reduced a star is because my friend tried to order the Lobster Benedict, but was told she couldn’t because they were out of the lobster they use for the Benedicts. It was confusing considering I ordered a lobster sandwich and they were able to make it. Not sure why they couldn’t just use the same type of lobster for both items.
I went during restaurant week. We sat in the back. It's a small restaurant, so call ahead may be smart. The decor was charming, antique as if you're visiting an Italian grandmother. The food was good. Lobster tasty and 4 ounce steak was cooked. It's only 4 ounce (small). I would come back.
OMGOODNES, I had the most wonderful time. The Happy Hour was 🔥🔥🔥 Oysters, Duck Fried Fries, Bang Bang Shrimp and Dirty Martinis. The Bronzino and the Couliflower will make you slap somebody's Momma.🤷🏽♀️
The restaurant is clean, friendly, happy, quite and comfortable. I had the pleasure of meeting the owners. They were so down to earth and care-free. The energy is exactly what you would crave after a taxing week. I can't wait to go back🤗🤗😀
I went there during restaurant week. The food was good. The staff was very nice!
Dining at Pinefish is an experience. The front entrance opens up to sultry, cozy sitting area with great funky lighting and small tables near the window. The back room is complete with string lighting, a chandelier and comfy seating. We felt welcome, everyone was enjoying themselves, the mixed drinks were incredible and are prepared by a Hopsing Laundromat trained bartender named Leslie. She's a doll and a pro!
Now let me tell you about Pinefish's food. Their chef is a pro, he absolutely doesn't mess around and his team hussles. We enjoyed a crisp, clean and flavorful starter of gazpacho covered in lump crab meat and loaded with fresh vegetable. The muscles were delectable, each one. The shells were clean, the muscles were tender and delicate and there was not a grain of grit amount them not to mention the broth!! I ate them so fast. My husband had their crab cakes, and there was not a ounce of filler in those cakes. All lump crab meat baked to perfection seasoned perfectly to let the fresh flavor come through. I will dine at Pinefish monthly, and I hope you go see them too! They have adorable outdoor seating, and a friendly vibe.
Great fresh fish in downtown Philly. The portions weren't huge but that's okay. I ordered the stuffed flounder and it was fantastic. They had great music softly playing and a cozy bohemian seating area in the front in addition to traditional tables in the rest of the restaurant. For desert I'd recommend the Key Lime pie. It was better than I had expected. If you like seafood a trip to Pinefish is definitely worth the try!
Excellent.. small intimate setting .. hidden gem
Waitress was great also
