We had dinner on a Saturday night and what a special, intimate and delicious experience. My husband and I follow a mostly vegan diet at home and eating out can be no fun at all. Here, everything is completely plant based and each course will blow your mind. We enjoyed each of the five courses but the favorites were the cashew ricotta stuffed pasta with chipotle cream corn and pickled radish, the coconut and ginger bisque and the dessert...amazing. The food quality was superb, the service was efficient, warm and friendly. Each plate was a work of art! Go, whether you're vegan or not...if you love fine artfully-prepared food and a true dining experience, you will love it.
Miss Rachel's Pantry was somewhat of a home-away-from-home for my husband and I when we first moved to Philadelphia. The friendly service, the quaint vintage decor and, of course, the comforting, flavor-packed food helped us to muster up the courage to go out and explore the new city we moved to. The constantly rotating menu items suited my terribly indecisive and picky appetite. Every weekend we would make a trip to the "pantry" to treat ourselves to a decadent breakfast and a friendly chat with our favorite counter-person. We were very disappointed when we found out the market and daytime restaurant were to be closed. We have yet to attend a dinner but we're still secretly hoping that one day, the pantry will open back up and we can once again have a good breakfast.
As a vegetarian, this is my FAVORITE restaurant in Philadelphia. No kidding. We used to place Horizon's as our top choice, but Miss Rachel now holds that spot. Yes, we can get great Asian food, or great pasta (occasionally) elsewhere, and there are thankfully several other fun vegan restaurants in Philly. These new ones are good, but we are not fans of the tapas/small plate approach. Miss Rachel provide an inventive, inspired, menu that leaves you full at a reasonable price. We also love Miss Rachel genuine sense of warmth and hospitality. Given a choice, when I am looking for a really good dinner, I would go to Miss Rachel's any time over her direct competitors and certainly even before the big name multi-star restaurants who just don't cater to vegetarians in a stand-out way.
I had to get a breakfast last minute for clients of mine that were coming in for a meeting from California. Miss Rachel was so accommodating and I lucked out since it was a day after they had a big event, so they had all the ingredients ready. The bagel spread platter was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Everyone (including the non-vegans) described it with those same words! (and you know how great the vegan options are in Cali! They were all blown away by the food! Now that's an awesome pat on the back! haha) I will definitely be getting that again in the future! It was cucumbers, tomatoes, fresh dill, and the "Whitefish" Spread and my personal fave was the Cashew Cream Cheese and Carrot Lox! Oh my gosh. I could eat it every day. Thank you Miss Rachel! I will be attending your next cooking class for sure! :)
We celebrated my 40th birthday last night and everything was just perfection! A five course meal for 20 people...the atmosphere, the delicious food, the friendly service...thank you for everything!
Highly recommend for Amazing Food & Service! Great experience 🖤
Miss Rachel's Pantry recently catered a small wedding reception at Old City Collective and they were incredible! The guests raved about the food, the staff was so professional and courteous. We look forward to working with them again soon!
Following our Son's wedding we were so thrilled that our new daughter chose Miss Rachel's as our dinner at night. The restaurant is adorable, comfortable and warmed by Rachel's beaming smile and welcoming personality. The food is gourmet, fabulous, beautiful etc!! I wish we didn't live so far away so we can't come in all the time to taste other treats. What a perfect evening to end the perfect day. Thank you Rachel and our amazing waiter, Kate. Everyone behind the scenes in the kitchen, thank you for your brilliant 6 course meal. <3
Loved the Baked Ziti (Semolina pasta, housemade meaty seitan marinara, tofu ricotta, garlicky spinach and melty vegan cheese. Topped with fresh basil.)
After attending the Women's March today, back home with a glass of wine & your food is much comfort after a stressful few days of politics.
Miss Rachel's is a wonderful place to eat and enjoy others company. The food is out of this world, the sticky buns are legendary and the staff and patrons are all the friendliest people you can ever meet.
The cheezin it night was great food! Always good food when we go here to eat!
Some of the best food I have ever eaten. A delight for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike.
Catered our wedding, phenomenal! Lots of serious meat eaters ate it so happily. Meal delivery is a lifesaver when family is in town or life is just busy. Yes, please!
There is no words in my vocabulary- what to say ? it's just perfect - excellent vegan food .I enjoyed every bite of all the food I tried !!! Miss Rachel you are the pioneer of Vegan female chefs in Philly ,Period .The six course dinner is a must .Way to go.!!!
Aaahh-mazing! Every course was top notch! We made friends at our communal table and will definitely be back!
Went to Miss Rachel's Pantry for the first time last night. I have been wanting to go for a while and I have to say it was absolutely worth the wait. The ambiance, and the service by the staff were absolutely incredible.
Now, when we talk about the food, that is another story. The food is on another level!! Every course of the 5 course meal was absolute perfection!! Everything was well seasoned, perfect temperature, with great flavors and textures.
If you get the chance, actually, I would recommend you make it a priority, to book a reservation and try Miss Rachel's Pantry. You will not regret it.
The best food from the sweetest people! Delicious, creative, and cruelty-free. Never a miss! I’ve been eating Miss Rachel’s food since I moved here a decade and a half ago, and she somehow just keeps getting better. Amazing.
There's a reason an entire month of reservations sells out within an hour: it's worth the wait! Every single course exceeded expectations (even my omnivore mom was impressed). The herbed chevre cappellacci was one of the best things I've ever eaten. With its warm, intimate setting and welcoming waitstaff, Miss Rachel's Pantry is one of the best restaurants in Philly—vegan or otherwise.
I booked a table for two and this was the most amazing experience as always.
First things first you must book ahead of time, I recommend signing up for the emails on the website. They are not a walk-in restaurant and while that may damper it for some, this is an experience, not just a meal.
Second, come ready to eat. You are coming for a multiple course meal and you will want every bite. They will also give you amazing rolls and butter at the table. BYOB with no fees! Plus, your meal comes with water, coffee, tea, and sometimes lemonade.
Third, you are coming to a restaurant with atmosphere and ambience. Keep that in mind, it's great for a date, or anniversary, or a great meal with a person you really like. The atmosphere with the other guests has been nice several times when I've gone.
I would recommend this place to anyone, it doesn't matter what you eat or don't. It's amazing quality and delicious food that will leave a lasting impression.
By far the best restaurant in Philadelphia, and (in my opinion) one of the best vegan restaurants in America. I’ve had multiple meals here and am always amazed by how creative and well-executed each one is. The menu changes regularly, but it never misses. What Rachel does with vegetables and other plant ingredients is other-worldly.
Amazing! I was planning a baby shower in Philadelphia while in Washington State. I did not know any restaurants and had guests with very specific dietary requirements. A real challenge. So glad I found Rachel's Pantry. They were so accommodating and filled me in on all the ingredients. We ordered charcuterie boxes and it was the perfect way to go. Most of us had not had a lot of vegan food and were a bit reluctant. But everyone was amazed! Loved all the cheeses, the biscuits, the bread. We were especially fascinated by the spicy "meat". So delicious. Thank you to Rachel and the staff!
Our experience at Miss Rachel’s Pantry was incredible. I have a few food allergies and they graciously accommodated me. I typically can only eat 1-2 things on the menu at most restaurants due to this, and was grinning ear to ear when they assured me I could enjoy each course that was prepared. Not only was the food amazing, but the experience was top notch. Such a cozy location too! We will be back.
Wonderful setting for an intimate evening wedding. Miss Rachel and staff were a delight. As for the food...WOW. Four course meal (see menu picture for details) capped off by a blueberry lemon with lavender frosting wedding cake. Sublime.
Rachel is a class act. She graciously accommodated my clients who had booked (and re-booked) their Covid-wedding four times! She was sincerely willing to pivot when their big wedding became a smaller cocktail party reception. And that’s just Rachel the person. The food was out of this world, and I’m not even vegan! Everything was generously portioned and absolutely delicious - my favorite was the gnocchi and the “salami” made from beets - wow, I had no idea how delicious vegan food could be. Can’t wait to dine at her cozy restaurant in Philly. Thank you, Rachel, for your kindness, flexibility, generosity and serious foodie skills. I’m a fan!
One of the best restaurants experiences ever. This was our second time here, and I can't wait to come back. Amazing food and very kind people.
