I was staying at a hotel around the corner and found this place by accident. I walked in and it smelt and looked great! I ordered a 14” pizza and it took 15 minutes, and I took it back to my hotel room. Food was very good, staff was friendly, and I was extremely pleased. I’ll be back in the Best Western in two weeks and will likely order dinner again from this place.
Food is fresh and hot. Stuffed mushrooms are the best I've had in a long time. 18inch pie for $16 bucks, highly recommended pepperoni/bacon
Killer pizza!!!! Delicious crust, great sauce, quality cheese
Amazing Food, With Super Customer Service That Went Above & Beyond! So Glad We Stopped Through. Don't Miss Out On The (real turkey) Turkey Sandwich!
Great food! Everything was fresh and delicious. Highly recommended.
Great friendly service and staff. Really cool atmosphere. Beautiful plants all over. Neat seating arrangement. The slices are quite pricey but very delicious. The crust is unique and notably flavored. The sauce is very good. Highly recommend the grandma style slice. Or actually it's a white slice with tomatoes or something. This pizza is very very thin and the crust is quite thick. I really like how they use the high quality pepperonis. I like thin pizza, but this is really really thin. Floppy and poor undercarriage. Light on the cheese, but not greasy.
Excellent Philly; some of the worst fries ever.
The bread for the Philly had a nice bite to it. The meat was cooked well. I went a little non traditional with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and provolone. Was wonderful.
Fries. I get they tried to use fresh potatoes. Probably is they do not seem to know how to make French fries from fresh potatoes. At a minimum, they need to be boiled with some vinegar in salty water and twice fried. There is more to great fries but you can go from cut to single fry. You get browned/burned sugars and soggy fries.
Saw several eating pizza and that looked great. So lots of good. Just skip the fries and save the $6.
I don’t leave many reviews, unless i find it spectacular. This pizza / slice shop fit the bill. Awesome pies, made from scratch in a clean clean space. In from out of town and I'm glad we made the short walk out of the busy area to give these guys a shot. Highly recommend!
I ordered a whole pie to go. It looked and smelled delicious. Which was tasty for the most part. The flavor of the dough was good- the crust was baked perfectly. However, the pizza was way too thin! I wasn't a fan. To me, it took away the enjoyment of the slices.
Came in for a quick slice. Ordered the grandma 🍕 and it was really good. Staff was friendly and place was clean. I was definitely come back and order a full pie.
Wood Street is a classy neighborhood corner pizza shop. It's not pretentious, it's clean, the pizza is great and everything else they have is too. With new weekly specials every single week, pizza and sandwiches, you can't get bored with their menu.
You can tell that they're willing to experiment and take risks and for that, I commend them. They're open late and they're fairly priced. Dean, the owner, is also genuinely one of the coolest people I've ever met and is a gift to the neighborhood and community.
They're also really big on their crust. If you think crust is the best part of the pizza this is the place to be. It is deliciously crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
I love Wood Street Pizza and it has been my go-to pizza place for years since I moved to the neighborhood. Not only because the food is stellar, but because the people that work there make the experience that much better.
The pizza here is very good but can be on the crispy side when compared to other pizza restaurants. However it is a little overpriced . I will still come here but not all of the time. I would still recommend coming here to Wood Street Pizza ,because the food here is of excellent quality.I can't wait to try out everything on their menu.
I want to come back and try the pizza. Everything I had was really good and could tell homemade. These French fries are top 5 in Philly. The mozzarella sticks were huge. The cheesesteak is worth it to try.
These guys had the best pizza in Philly. It was thin, crispy, and delicious. Wish I had more room in my stomach by the time I got there to order a large pie.
The area itself is a bit grim and they don’t allow indoor dining (understandable from some of the people I saw lingering outside).
However there are standing tables outside where you can eat if needed.
Can’t wait to go back!
This place has some of the most delicious food in my neighborhood. Happy to have it so close. Their pizza specials are amazing. Very friendly service.
Wood Street is the definition of “you get what you pay for”, and I mean that in the most positive way possible. You can taste that they really put love into their pies.
This is one of the few pizza joints in Philly where I have actually tasted the freshness and quality of the ingredients. No overwhelming grease, just really, really good flavors that come through in each bite. And these are *hearty* pizzas. I’ve had 3 pies so far from here, and you couldn’t make me pick a favorite. 🧡
I can't say enough great things about this spot. Their pizza is top-tier. There's an italian sandwich on the menu that makes me emotional just to write about.
You can tell that there's a lot of intentionality and care put into the food that is served here and it comes across in your palate. The photos attached honestly don't do the food enough justice.
Great spot close to UA and other clubs. Definitely recommend for a quick bite before a show. The pizza was delicious but the meatball parm was the show stopper. Best meatball sub I have personally ever had.
Came in looking for a Philly Cheesesteak and found a great sandwich, awesome and friendly service in a cozzy and warm restaurant. Owner is friendly, making sure everyone gets their order correctly. Ordered the cheesesteak with mushrooms and loved it! Totally recommend it! The side of fries with bacon is enough for 2-3, and the brussel sprouts were ten times better from what I expected. If you aren't a big bite, a sandwich with a side will be enough for two. Make sure you pass by and try this restaurant!
Was visiting a local venue on a Sunday early evening after taking the train into the city, and I'm incredibly grateful for your location being among the few open for a quick bite to eat. Pizza was pretty scrumptious, too. Did not feel bloated after eating a large slice! Thanks :)
Solid neighborhood spot - Creative twists on the standards. Pizza is super-thin crust but still has a chew.. All ingredients are top-shelf from the sauce to the cheese to the toppings. Seeded roll was killer on the cheesesteak. Seemed less crusty than a Sarcone's .. maybe a custom Liscio's? Anyway, with high-grade beef, chopped JUST coarsely enough and blended with tangier-than average American, it is a high-end example, and goes in my top ten. Someone had called the fries "limp?" Ours were outstanding. Best in the city, as far as I can remember. The only fries I recall competing are the Montreal poutine versions that these remind me of.
Indoor seating is limited. Food is still top-notch.
The pizza here is excellent. Recommend the the meatball special. Owner (I think he was the owner) super nice guy, told us where the closest place was to get beer. When we came back he brought our pizza outside to us. Will be back to try other menu items.
Excellent pizza. I got the margarita twice. This time I got the Grandma slice. Even better. Getting a whole pie next time.
I had like 15 mins left in my parking meter so needed a quick lunch. Stopped by and oh boy I’m glad I did. I got the cheesesteak and pepperoni pizza. The crust was so crispy but not burnt. The cheesesteak one was my favorite. The steak was so meaty and overall just a great bite with the cheese and crust. Pepperoni was also great. Will come back if in the area.
