They made the best general tso chicken I've had on south st. And I've lived here for 20 years. The fried rice was also way better than most take out spots, they actually put veggies and stuff in, just like it's supposed to be. If I could rate this place 10 Stars, I would.
It’s not a five star place - but for years I’ve been getting 2 things- large Won Ton soup- like $4.50 and chicken curry.
Stick with those 2 things. The curry is spicy with LOTS of vegetables. So to me it’s cheap, filling and good - I always call and go pick it up. Not so nice to eat there but hey....
Came here the other night for some food. The General Tso’s chicken is honestly the best I’ve ever had - spicy but not overwhelming. The prices are low and it’s very clean in there, definitely making this my go-to restaurant while I’m in the area.

Honestly, the food is good quality. I'm from Hawaii and we went in to do take out and it was busy, I was surprised. Their prices are spot on for their quality n timing in food they produce for their customers. After ordering, eating, I was full and satisfied. I will be ordering again when I return to Philly. Much Mahaloz.

They are efficient and reliable. I've read the posted reviews here, and some people will complain about any and everything. I think we are lucky to have New South Chinese Restaurant in our neck of the woods!
Such happy friendly people working there. For Chinese food, it's the best quality I've had so far in Philadelphia. Great options. Very clean restaurant. I live in Passyunk and walk there for Chinese food.
Lady on the phone is the best ! Straight forward and simple ! It’s American Chinese takeout I rarely eat but I would choose new south over any other local American Chinese spots !

Typical Chinese takeout, not every dish is a winner but overall I enjoy the food and friendly staff.
Decent takeout and they use an app for ordering which is always nice.
