Hands down, the best Thai food I have had (outside of Thailand). The flavors are perfect, the vegetables are fresh and hearty, and the portions are incredibly generous. You can taste the love and care that goes into each dish being crafted. Do not judge this place by the exterior look and logger decor inside. It all just adds to the charm of the experience and I promise you'll go back and see it in a whole new light after having eaten there once. Plus they have a good selection of draft beers! It is a 2-hour drive round trip for me to go to The Woodsman, and worth every mile.
The Pad Thai is amazing. If you have never tried it, you are missing out. They have several Oregon Trail beers on tap, and I heard they make their own ice cream. The American food is good, but the Thai food is exceptional, and you get a lot of it for the price. Can't wait to try the Nectar Creek tap room that's opening across the street either. I wouldn't complain about having a few meads before or after a meal at The Woodsman. Also, I like the service here. It is on point every time I go in for a meal. They don't pester me when I'm talking and eating, but they are around if I need anything.
Best Thai food restaurant around, period. Dinner prices are a bit high, but the portions are large. I've tried the pad thai, drunken noodles, fried rice, curry. All good - I recommend!
The mango curry (spicy) was so delicious! Even with the spice you can taste all of the sweet and yummy vegetable flavors. The portion is large enough for two meals, which is the same for every other meal! Lastly, the mango, sticky rice, and homemade ice cream hit the spot at the end. My favorite Thai restaurant in Oregon!
Absolutely the most fresh and flavorful food I have eaten in the valley! We love the yellow curry and Thai peanut stir fry. The dishes aren't salty or greasy, and portions are huge! We always have leftovers. Friendly staff too.
Stephanie made our meal special! Than you so much for taking such good care of our party of 15 Stephanie. Food was great - service exceptional!
What a great place for dinner. Thai cashew chicken is awesome! When they say spice on something believe it!
great service,amazing food
absolutely love all the gals that serve there.
I'm never disappointed
The food is exceptional and so is Nang she is so sweet and a perfect host!
Terrific food, genuinely friendly, prompt service everytime.
The food was amazing! Does their building look a little run down- yes- but once you take your first bite you don’t care anymore. The service was great and I can’t wait to go back.
A great place!. The Woodsman is one of my favorite places! I love their curries, the thai sweet basel, the deserts, the thai iced tea, and the helpful service!
Massive Menu!. I had heard many good things about the Thai food being served here. I personally found the menu to be somewhat overwhelming. Don't get me wrong I enjoy a nice selection but sometimes a restaurant can be overreaching as (in my opinion) is the case here. We were greeted and seated right away at a window by the highway. The area is basically 1/3 bar and 2/3 family restaurant with (obviously) a logger theme going on. As mentioned the menu is massive and our patient waitress had to check back 3 or 4 times before we had made up our minds. Oh and the menu had various laminated "specials" tucked in here and there.
Eventually we decided and placed our orders. I failed to take good notes here but my shrimp and vegetable dish was good just not remarkable. I did count nine shrimp which I thought was fair for the price. What I really did like was the tangy dressing on the side salad strangely enough. My girlfriend got the crispy duck which again was good but you can do better in Albany. We finished with the purple pudding and I was looking forward to this. Alas this was actually a letdown. It was served hot. Almost too hot to eat and when it cooled it wasn't all that sweet. My gf had just two bites and made me finish the rest.
I know one visit isn't the end all do all and I've heard the food varies here depending on if the owner is cooking or not. I had a decent experience and I would like to go back again if not only to try the American side of the menu. There is SOOOOOOOO much to choose from here you're bound to find something you'll enjoy.
Consistently good and hot food. They have great Thai food, and they also serve burgers, which is nice, if you've got family members who won't eat Thai food. I love it. The place looks like a typical bar, but as far as the food goes, they have everything down to perfection. I get hot food, with fresh vegetables every time. The owner is really sweet too. She's an expat, from Thailand I assume, which might eplain why there is a great Thai restaurant in Philomath. We stopped by on a slow night, and she came over to talk to my kids (12 and 16), and told them they should eat more vegetables! My 16 year old said, "Oh my god, it's like I've got another mom now."
Beautiful day for a drive.. Having heard its praises sung from several quarters, it seemed time to give the storied Thai menu here a try.
Philomath Oregon was born of the, once thriving, timber industry carved from the stately Douglas Fir forests which once carpeted untold millions of acres in and around the Willamette Valley. Its name suggests that the Woodsman may have been a favorite watering hole of those long ago loggers and mill workers who made up a large portion of the area's population before the bunny huggers decided to save an owl of questionable value.
Nothing in its appearance, inside or out, would tip you to the fact that it's one of the best Thai places in the area.
Barely had I closed the door behind me when Patty, server, bartender and all-round cheerful person, greeted me from across the room. I helped myself to a cozy table by a window.
I ordered my usual first-time-in-a-Thai-place; Seafood Phad Thai. Soon a small mountain arrived in a sprawling Soup dish. On its edge were large portions of Shredded Cabbage and Junienned Carrots. I first tried the thin, flat Saucy Rice Noodles. So far so good. Then I worked my way through the Mussels, Shrimp, Squid and Scallops. Apart from the Scallops being miniscule, all gained my seal of approval. I dug in. And dug in some more. Good as it was and try as I might, I couldn't get around it all!
Though it will not bump Red Ginger from the top spot on my list of Thai places, it was very good and rates a very respectable ranking in my “Best Thai you gotta try!” guide.
Good Suprise. After a strong recommendation from the gal working the Myrtle wood shop, I headed to "The Woodsman" for a bit of Philomath Phad Thai.
I'm no expert on authentic Thai foods (I don't think the chainsaw is Thai decor) but I can say I was very pleased with the restaurant, the service, the drinks and the food. I'm going back soon!
Good food, prices reasonable. Not a lot of options in Philomath. The Woodsman is a welcome addition.
Good Thai food and American options. Not going to win best of the nation award, but is certainly good food at a fair price.
Great Thai food, pub food too. This former biker bar is now family friendly and serving great Thai food along with the usual pub stuff. Disclaimer: I love their Thai menu so much I've never ordered off of the pub food menu. Homemade coconut-mango ice cream during mango season: really yummy! Good pub-ish atmosphere (not Thai) with a Philomath logger sort of appeal. Its amusing to see the mix of local timber folk with Thai food addicts.

The Woodsman has been recommended to me for awhile and I now regret not going in earlier.
Amazing Thai!
I tried the 4K and my buddy had the Lemongrass chicken. He couldn't get all the way around his a he isn't exactly a lightweight.
I've moved back to Portland but still miss their Thai food regularly! They're the only Thai restaurant that actually makes their curries extra spicy when I ask for extra spicy. Before I lived down the road from them, i'd drive over here from Corvallis just to get their take out! Love this little restaurant.
Ya know, I probably should have taken a picture of the beautiful food and appetizers... But my stomach didn't even let me think about it.! I've eaten at many Thai restaurants, but this little gem is truly my favorite.! It's hidden at the end of a tiny little podunk town, concealed by the facade of a good ol' boy, honkeytonk bar and grill.! (I still live in a smaller town, about 20 miles away, and this is the closest restaurant, other than Debs Cafe.) Now that being said, the food here is absolutely spectacular.! You want Thai.? You're gonna get freshly cooked, hot and steaming, delicious Thai.! For some reason, unknown to man, you want a burger and fries.? Hey man, they got you.! They usually have some pretty good beers on tap, and a decent variety of bottled and canned beers, both foreign and domestic. My wife has ordered a few cocktails there and was not disappointed either. She prefers the thai tea. Check this place out, you will not regret your decision.!
This review is for Take-Out only. Ordered the Home-made dumplings and the Panang Curry. Both were really delicious and the portion of Curry was enough for 2. I wish they served Naan but I Would order take-out from here again.

Great food every time. If you want it hot, like street food in Thailand, you'll get it that way. I stop in for a plate of food and a cold beer every time I pass by.
A very UN expected pleasure! To find high quality Thai food out in the countryside was exciting. Very high quality preparation of the dishes and extremely flavorful. Highly recommend that you stop by this place and enjoy the food.
