Wow. What an unexpected surprise in an unexpected location. I have never been blown away by a place here in Arizona; That is until I tried Tommy's Place. The atmosphere is super cool, trendy, artsy, and interesting. Tommy (the owner) scours Craig's List for interesting items to display on the walls, which he does with such style. From Vespas, to umbrellas, to cheetahs, to Steampunk hats, this restaurant is like a museum of cool stuff! It feels like a restaurant you'd experience in a cosmopolitan area, not on 28th street and Bell. The staff is the nicest, most attentive staff I've ever experienced in my life, from the host to the busser, to the servers. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, enjoying ourselves, and having a good time. The service was impeccable and we never had to wait to order a drink or have our questions answered. Tommy is there 7 days a week, and makes a point to chat with all customers. He came up to us several times to check in on us and to make sure everyone was taking care of us.
Then there's the food. I've been to some amazing top notch restaurants in some top notch cities (London, Tokyo, Sydney, New York to name a few) and Tommy's Place trumps them all and is now officially my favorite restaurant in the world. My favorite restaurant used to be in Sydney, now it's in Arizona. Who would have thought?! We started with the braised pork belly appetizer that literally melts in your mouth. The owner then surprised us and bought us the antipasto salad. Artichokes, an array of meats, pepperoncinis, this was one of the best salads that has ever touched my lips. We then had the King Crab Ravioli. I'm typically not a fan of ravioli but I am now. This was truly outstanding. We also had the clams in the garlic and white wine sauce, which were DELICIOUS. The owner then wanted us to try their cannoli, so bought some for us. Again, these didn't disappoint and were delightfully delicious. Tommy was telling us stories of his travels, and came out with two glasses of Italian liquor that he received as a gift. We LOVED how it really felt like a neighborhood restaurant where the owner really takes an interest in his guests and really wants them to feel at home and have a good time. He had mentioned that he doesn't do coupons or promos, he just takes really good care of his guests so they rave about him and the restaurant, spread the word, and so that they return. Well it worked. We WILL be going back and here I am raving about the place!
In summary, of any restaurant in any country I've been to (and I've lived in over 10 countries and visited many others) Tommy's Place blows them all out of the water. The best service, most delicious food, and coolest atmosphere, this place really did surprise me. I always used to make fun of people who claimed Arizona has good food. After experiencing Tommy's Place, I must admit, I now agree with them. And I never thought that day would come! Tommy's Place is a MUST.
Local gem, if you haven’t been here you must give it a try! Seriously I wish it wouldn’t have taken us so long to find it. The owner Tommy is amazing, the food is authentic and live music.. so much fun! Perfect combo of atmosphere, genuine pride in good food, and amazing customer service, Juan was a fabulous server. We had the porcini ravioli special (house made), penne vodka with chicken, delicious bottle of Malbec and for dessert wow tiramisu is the bomb.
A hidden gem! Whether you stop in at the bar for a quick drink and a bite, or a full on meal, Tommy's won't disappoint. A true fine dining experience!
Wow. The hubby and I ventured out to the greatest food and fun. Crab ravioli was off the charts yum and the fettuccine alfredo with chicken was to die for. Best service and thanks to patrons Tina, Piper and Mike for the fabulous dinner conversation and great time. See you in two days! This is our new place. Tommy, you rock! The aura is perfecto!
We popped in after a movie on the Sunday evening of Labor Day weekend, and the place was packed. We didn't have a reservation and were about to leave when Tommy came outside and told us he could squeeze us in. So glad he did! Cozy place with old-fashioned East Coast Italian food (all the classics) and excellent service. Cloth napkins, a "mature" friendly waiter straight from the Bronx, mouth-watering bruchetta. Very reasonably priced, too. Last time we were in that same building it was cowboy BBQ and fried chicken. This is an impressive improvement - we wish them all the best!

Dont judge a book by its cover! My husband and. I were expecting a neighborhood joint, however we walked into this gem! Hubs had the cheese steak and I had a turn over-both amazing! The owner, food at atmospher were top notch!!!

Had a really great dinner here last night. The atmosphere was superb. Perfect music volume, and it was not too busy. Lots of stuff to look at on the walls. The bartender Kendra was great, very attentive and quick as was the rest of the staff! The food came out in a timely fashion and it was hot and delicious. Good wine, good food, good times. I would reccomend this to anyone visiting Phoenix and I can’t wait to go back next time I’m in town!

My fiance and I met a friend here for dinner and we were not disappointed. we each got something different and everyone's food was amazing. And their cocktails are very potent... The inside is eclectic and fun and the employees were very knowledgeable and very nice. The area outside is a little rundown but it's definitely worth a stop by, you have to try it
I read all the reviews before deciding and every review was dead on. It's a friendly place, great atmosphere, mouth watering food. Fantastic and attentive service. Loved every moment of the dinner. I will definitely be back!!!!
I cannot be superfluous in my praise for Tommy's Place. My wife and I have been there dozens of times and we've never once had anything less than a 10/10 experience... The food is always incredible, and the specials they offer change each time we visit. The specials are so incredible that we don't even bother with the menus anymore. Service is always top notch and each visit we feel welcome. Highly recommend.
Tommy's Place is the Best for quiet, adult dinner atmosphere. The Bacon-Wrapped Scallops were amazing and the Service is Top Rate! Tommy's will always be our #1 Choice for Date Night. :)

All of the main entrees were delicious - particularly the penne alla vodka and the fettuccine alfredo.
There's something different about this place. It's not your average olive garden type Italian. The dishes didn't seem as sauce laden, and the food was a little more east coast authentic. We were greeted and seated by a guy who seemed like he might be Tommy. Our waitress was a nice lady, but she seemed really quiet and unsure of herself, and had to have us repeat everything. We also had to send her back several times as she forgot some of the items we originally asked for. All in all, my family enjoyed their food, and I really liked the atmosphere. Very unique, dark with candles. It was a fun night out. 3 thumbs up.
Tommy's Place. When we first came here we were amazed. When u drive by this place you wouldn't think anything off it. When you walk inside, wow. This place is lively. Atmosphere is very warm and the staff is great.
Our first and second visit, where amazing our waitress was fun and very down to earth.
Our third visit, was still amazing the food is great like always. We had a mishap happen and Tommy came in and fixed it really quick. I highly recommend this place.
I wish there was a way to give this place six stars, because they deserve it. The food is absolutely amazing, the establishment itself is gorgeous, and the staff is unbeatable. We live in the neighborhood and have gone here on numerous occasions and I have yet to find something that isn’t delicious. The specials are always fantastic, Tommy himself is the nicest man I’ve ever met, and the drink menu is fantastic. The live music Wednesday through Saturday can’t be beat. If you want delicious Italian food there’s nowhere else in town you should be going!!
This place is amazing. A diamond in the desert. The service was stellar only outperformed by the wonderful dishes and dessert.
We had two of the specials which were out of this world. We happened across Tommy's by luck and will be frequenting for dinner from now on. The menu is filled with Italian favorites and I look forward to trying each one of them.
Brian was our server and was quick to make us feel like we were special guests and treated out children like family. He was spot on with his wine and food recommendations and we hope he's our companion every time we are at Tommy's.
You'd never expect this place to be in the neighborhood it's in, but, when you walk inside, you know you're in a fantastic restaurant. Wish I could give more than five stars!
We were going to go to the German restaurant down the street for Oktoberfest but they have a long wait so we went to Tommy's place and boy are we glad that we came here. They have the place really decorated nicely with lots of reminders of New York City. the service is great. The food was outstanding. We tried about everything including Pizza, Wings, a salad and several different pasta dishes between the four of us and had no complaints about any of the food. Would definitely go back
What a great place! Not what you would expect on Bell Road. The food was so very good. The meatballs are wonderful. We had two great entree's and ended up with the home made Tiramisu. YUM! I can't say enough about the staff there. Our server was just awesome!! We got to learn the history of the place, which was really cool. She really was delightful, as was everyone there. They had live music, which was really nice and they had the volume down enough that you could enjoy the music and still have a conversation. We are looking forward to being regulars here!!
Some friends came from out of town, and we decided to come here for dinner. The atmosphere was warm, the people were friendly and helpful, and the food was great. We ate outside, which was right next to a fairly busy road, which took away from the nice atmosphere a little. But our friends said that they would want to come here again next time they visit. So over all a great experience.

What an interesting Italian restaurant. I loved the setting. Nice selection on food. They also have hamburgers on the menu if your not feeling Italian food. They have bar service if you just want a nice setting to have some drinks with friends. I know I'm keeping this place in mind. I highly recommend to you!
Have dined at Tommy's Place several times now. The food is always excellent, I usually get one of the Veal dishes, this time the Veal Piccata and it was awesome. My wife had the Salmon with sauteed veggies instead of pasta and said it was excellent. We had the mussels as an app and they were great. The restaurant has a cozy feel and the servers are always on point. If you like Italian food, you need to try Tommy's Place.
