SO GOOD! Came here for a bday dinner and everything we had was incredible. they are also very flexible and many of their menu items can be made several ways (e.g. spicy tuna roll can be made with minced tuna or chopped tuna, etc...). Server was also super friendly and bubbly and seemed like she could predict what we needed before asking for it.
drinks were great, fish quality was top notch, service was fast.
Expect to be in and out fast though, this place forms a line quickly and they may ask you if you're done ordering new items so they can ring you out while you are still mid meal. No problem for us!
I was visiting from California and have to say Hana Japanese Eatery was one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to. (When I think of sushi in the desert there is always doubt about freshness) Everything we ate was delicious. One of my favorite dishes was the seared tuna salad was delicious, the fish was perfect, the layered flavors were delightful, I wish I could duplicate the combination of acidity, creaminess and sweetness.
The show stopper was the seared scallops my brother ordered. All I can honestly say is ....oh my goodness. Seasoned and cooked to perfection, man I could have eaten more than the 1/2 of scallop that was shared with me.
If you love sushi, you won't go wrong with ordering a yellowtail roll, such a perfect combination of flavors.
Hana Japanese Eatery will be on my list to visit next time we are in Phoenix, so amazing...thank you for making our birthday celebration so special.
Excellent customer service. Good food. Wonderful ambience.
We used to come to this place back when I lived in central Phoenix but it’s been at least 5 years and boy are we glad we made the trek back!! The sushi is SO good and the service is fantastic. Anytime we finished a plate someone was there to remove it. Anytime my water was half empty someone would refill it. It’s great quality food and very friendly service. We will be back to try the Japanese beer and whiskey selection! Definitely recommend checking this place out.
O! M! G! I haven’t heard much about Hana other than, “you gotta go”. I finally went!!!! Loralee, her brother and myself had dinner before our show at The Phoenix Theater Company. It was so good, I can’t wait to go back for more. I really want to leave room for dessert next time.
I absolutely adore the staff here and the food and freshness is unmatched to say the least. I would frequent this establishment everytime I had the opportunity and that would sometimes be 3 times a week. Now that we're out of state anytime I find myself back in AZ Hana is definitely a part of my itinerary. Lynn (owner)Luke Shana and the whole crew are like family and will treat you like royalty.
This place has never let me down. I love how there is fresh wasabi here. Very few places have it. We have never had anything but wonderful sushi, ramen, and udon here. Tonight we had a myriad of things from the menu, but it was so good I forgot to take pictures of everything. Definitely one of the best local treasures! :)
Amazing food and authentic experience. Fresh grade A fish and lots of choices. It's really up there among the best. You are laying for the quality.
After reading the reviews, we decided to come check this place out. We really enjoyed everything we ordered. We had ikura with quail egg, okonomiyaki, spicy tuna roll, and a rainbow roll. We have never had okonomiyaki before so we can't compare it to a previous experience, but we loved it!
Everything was fresh and properly rolled. Nothing fell apart on us. Service was attentive. It's no wonder this place is BUSY. We will be back!
Service and food was great. We had a large group of 22 people. We had a room all to ourselves and there was always somebody serving us.
Some serious Japanese food served by loving people. My new favorite when craving Mom’s cooking. This is the best Japanese food in Arizona. The real dealio. The okonomyaki is over the top.
Hana is a wonderful Japanese Eatery nestled in the northern part of Phoenix, near Camelback. My wife and I were searching for some good sushi and we found this magical place. The atmosphere is quite relaxed. We were not dressed up for any particular occasion as were driving in from out of town.
We started off with a chef's special, roasted eggplant in a ponzu broth with Bonito flakes on top, and seaweed salad. The broth on the eggplant was so good I could have drank the whole bowl! Both appetizers were incredibly flavorful, yet not too heavy for a first course.
The next course was sashimi - tuna, uni, and Toro. The tuna sashimi was very light and delicate The uni sushi we tried for the first time, it was not our favorite but not because of the preparation--my wife and I just don't like uni. The main attraction, the Toro, was absolutely fantastic. It was our first time having Toro, and it was well worth the experience, even more delicate than the regular tuna sashimi with a melt in your mouth buttery texture. I highly recommend the Toro if you are willing to splurge (market price ~40 USD for 6 pieces).
The main course was the fish collar. This is while supplies last. It was exactly what I was hoping for. Delicate texture, fatty and light flavor with nice crispy skin! The dipping sauce was the perfect accompaniment.
Finally, we had mochi for dessert. My wife had the mango and I had the green tea. My favorite was a mix of both flavors. The green tea is a stronger "green" flavor, which I enjoy, so if you don't like green tea that much, I would go for one of the other flavors.
The service was also excellent. My wife and I will be back to support this business. Overall, this place had won my wife and I over and we will definitely recommend to anyone wanting sushi or Japanese cuisine in the Phoenix area! @foodbrawl
My experience here was great! The waiters were very nice, and even though there was a bit of a wait, it was worth it for the great food. It's very clean inside too.
Some foods my table got were the okonomiyaki, and the green tea mochi. The portions are fairly large for a good price!
I would definitely come here again!
Hands down favorite Japanese restaurant in town! Our favorites are the Philly roll, unagi, chicken karaage, tonkotsu ramen. Try the flying IPA, the sparkling sake, and the fried Twinkie!!!
Delightful spot with incredible food! Great way to follow up a visit to the Japanese Friendship Gardens. Menu is full of house specialities and each dish has incredible flavor, bit pricey but nothing outrageous. Would highly recommend!
This place is awesome, I was getting inpatient for a bit, but the good was delicious.
This is a great little BYOB sushi place. Fun atmosphere, good staff, and great food. It is small so get there early to make sure you get a seat and kind of tight seating. But this is one of our favorite places for sushi. The food looks amazing then you try it an realize it is. Can't wait to go back.
