Reviews Sakana Restaurant

The ambiance of the restaurant is quite pleasant, creating a favorable dining atmosphere. The selection of sushi is moderate, with most rolls being of the American-style sushi variety. The overall menu design and choices resemble more of an izakaya, featuring dishes that are primarily meant to complement alcoholic beverages. If you're a fan of drinks and wish to enjoy fried items along with beer or sake paired with sushi, it would be a decent choice. However, if you are seeking an authentic Japanese culinary experience, this may not be the ideal option. Reservations are necessary for the grill section, and unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to experience it, so I cannot provide a review. The quality of the sushi is satisfactory, but the rolls are average, and the fried items tend to be quite thick, potentially causing a sense of heaviness when consumed individually.

I’ve eaten at Sakana just shy of three decades. Why? Quality and consistency. Every time I’ve been in their fine establishment, it’s packed. Wait staff is prompt and usually knows the menu well. The food is delicious and always fresh. You can sit at the sushi bar and watch the cooks prepare your plate, sit at a table, or at the teppanyaki if your party is large enough. One amazing plate is the half tuna, half salmon sashimi. This Sashimi is very fresh! My other standby is the spicy tuna roll, as it the deep fried calamari jalapeño. They have every sushi roll one could imagine. The restaurant is very busy, so don’t expect to get in and out quickly. However, your wait is compensated with wonderful culinary delights. So relax, order a drink (or two) and experience the best in Japanese cuisine.

Delicious sushi and great deals! Buy a beer and get an appetizer half off. Server was super attentive, left full and happy. The Cali roll in my taste had a little too much Mayo, but that is just my preference

Bluefin Toro for starters. Unbelievable how tasty and fresh is the sushi at Sakana. 2nd round was oysters on the half shell. OmG those are to die for and do pour some of the homemade spicy sauce on them. Round three were three rolls. Of the three ordered I recommend the Yum Yum the most. Great sushi chef Chris!!!! Ben's service was outstanding too. The sake bomber was a great topper!

Some sushi joints make a bunch of rolls using the imitation crab but then they all taste the same no matter what you order, right? Well Not This Place! Every roll was delicious and unique. Beautiful to look at and to eat. Our waitress was amazing too. Very laid back with our party of 11. We have big family.🙂

Sakana used to be a hidden gem for really good sushi at a cheaper price than most. But the restaurant hasn’t really recovered from Covid. The baked scallop roll is still great, and sushi is good. It’s just not as good or as cheap. I recommend skipping those things made in the kitchen. Not so hot.

Sakana is the best in the valley for fresh fish at a reasonable price. Their portions are large, the food is delicious, and the prices are great. Add to that great service and it's a can't miss!

The service is always amazing and the quality is even better than that. It's still the best sushi in Arizona. One of the places I truly look forward to going out to eat. As I know it's going to be quality every time. And it's really not that expensive if you go during happy hour. The pictures tagged below we want a little over the top but damn it was good.

I ordered my sushi to go since I was on my lunch break. The “Host” or “cashier” was not very friendly and he seemed irritated by my order “to-go” . The sushi was tasty and the gyozas paired well with the sweet and sour sauce. The only thing I would change is to have a larger shrimp in the sushi. Seems as though more crab mix than shrimp. Overall will return. Loved the honey habanero sauce.

I normally go to another location on Indian Bend & Hayden. Alway have an excellent service and good size of sushi. Here I ordered two rolls, both of them were ok, 3+. Blood orange roll size was too small and the salmon on the top of the roll was paper thin. Second Las Vegas roll was even worse. The pieces were very small and had nothing in it but rice. Plus they didn't want to seat 2 people on 4 seats table, even though they had bunch of them available when we came. I think that is ridiculous!

The perfect Mix , MUST HAVE!🤤 .azsakanasushi has mouth watering sushi! From just an ordinary sushi OR you can try their specialty sushis’ which you can’t go wrong with any! They also have other plates and appetizers for example one of our favorites is the Jalapeño Boat! It is stuffed with cream cheese, Krab Mix & Spicy Mayo! INCREDIBLE. The perfect mix and you MUST TRY. This roll has tempura soft shell, cucumber, Krab Mix,Massago, Eel Sauce! .We also had the SALMON DYNAMITE it has Crunchy California Roll with Mixed Baked Krab Meat & Salmon on Top ! Everything together with the sauce on top , delicious ! Definitely stop at @azsakanasushi & try out their incredible sushi menu 😍 Another incredible plate from is the Half Tuna Half Salmon Sashimi ! This Sashimi is very fresh ! You can sit at the sushi bar and watch the cooks prepare your plate! It tastes very refreshing & clean & almost melts in your mouth! You can get their sashimi seared or not seared either way you can’t go wrong! & make sure you grab some mochi for dessert, YUM!

Amazing service, super busy and glasses always full. The sushi variety was amazing, variety of chu and toro from multiple fish. Clearly they break down alot of whole fish. The spicy edamame was so good, just kept my mouth on fire until it was empty. They had Blue Fin and it was great, but the Salmon nigiri was like butter.

Went there on Friday bout 6ish and it was moderately busy in dining room but no one at the hibachi tables. Ordered a bunch of sushi and maki to go rather than dine in. Sat at bar while waiting for food and their liquor and beer selection was extremely limited. Bartender said they are revamping their menu so inventory is light. Started out with a combo salmon and tuna poke poke bowl which was incredible. It was loaded with fish and the greens were very fresh. Huge portion too! I then had a variety of sushi and maki rolls and all of it was excellent. Nice sized pieces. They didnt have proper To Go containers so they used styrofoam ones which allowed the sushi to be thrown around and ultimately fall apart. Hope they adjust that with the menu refresh! Staff was very pleasant and I wish we had the time to eat inside rather than take it To Go. Tables were spacious and dining room had nice ambience.

First time here, when we first sat down I was a little worried about eating here, I was looking for something a bit more high end. They don't have a lot of exotic fish, but what they do have is very fresh. Not talking about rolls here, sorry that is beneath me. I'm taking about sashimi and nigiri. The staff was also very friendly and the place has a homey vibe, the kind of place I grew up eating at in Hawaii. Will be back next time I'm in Phoenix!
