This is a really neat little place. Looks like a hole in the wall so most people probably would dismiss it. Very authentic and the owner and staff are very sweet and attend to your every need. While there they were roasting some coffee beans and brought them by the table for us to smell the wonderful aroma. They are with grub hub so you can order that way but then you would miss out on the ambiance. Really a neat little place tucked away in a strip mall by the VA. 9th Street and Indian school road.
The food here is amazing. Ethiopian food at its best. Both meat and vegan dishs are very good. I have been eating this type of food for twenty years. Abyssinia is one of the best in the Phoenix Area.
The chicken/vegetable and yellow rice dish I conservatively ordered, was quite delicious indeed...I enjoyed the African cultural atmosphere and music...customer service was also warm and personable.

We celebrated a surprise birthday dinner on Ethiopian New Years Eve! Delicious food, a coffee ceremony, music and dancing with friends and our gracious hosts.

I've been born and raised in Las Vegas and everytime I come around Phoenix I MUST come here because it is my MOST favorite restaurant in the entire world! Employees are very kind and the decor/arrangement of the restaurant is so cultural and comfortable. Food is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! The Ethiopian restaurants in vegas can't even compare!

This is my number one spot for Ethiopian food in the valley! It’s become my go to for date nights and girls night. The food is all so good and the service is lovely. You’re greeted like family when you walk in. The atmosphere is dim and full of inviting scents. Definitely try the ceremony coffee while you’re there!!
Amazing food! I’ve been coming here for years and have never once been disappointed. The restaurant has everything from Vegetarian dishes to Meat dishes that all offer a variety of unique and extremely flavorful meals that are sure to leave you more than satisfied!
Delicious and great atmosphere. It would be great to have the option of ice water ( they only offer bottled), but the drinks are delicious. The
coffee ceremony is also really good. I love the veggie combo! Tons of food to share and enjoy together.
First time trying Ethiopian cuisine and my visit was a very pleasant experience. The woman that served me (and also cooked the food) was very welcoming and explained many of the dishes to me to cater to my preferences.
I ordered the mixed platter that included chicken, lamb, and beef, along with the non-alcoholic honeywine. The food was delicious. All the meats were tender and well seasoned. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone wishing to try this food as well.
Absolutely amazing. The owner is a wonderful woman who made me feel right at home and recommended different dishes. The birz is sweet and delicious, and the lamb was perfectly cooked, served piping hot and quite literally the best butter-braised lamb I've ever had. The injera was fluffy and just the right sourness and came with a bright fresh green salad. Highly, highly recommend coming here.
This is my favorite Ethiopian food in the Phoenix area. I came here spoiled by Manhattan's multiple terrific places, so I have been extremely happy knowing I can run down the block and fill-up on some of my favorite foods.
It also doesn't hurt that everyone I have dealt with there (I've been there ~20 times over my 9 1/2 years here) has been extremely friendly and expressed genuine gratitude for the business.
I've introduced several friends to Ethiopian food here, and all have been thrilled. I think the other 4 & 5 star reviews here reflect these experiences.
If you like great flavorful food this place is amazing! The second time I visited my boyfriend called ahead to arrange for the gluten free injera which was delicious! The owner of this cozy little restaurant is one of the warmest and kindest people. Can’t wait to go back and try the coffee ceremony. If you want great food and to be treated like family this is the place to go.
Amazing atmosphere and kind/helpful staff. To drink we ordered the honey wine which was very sweet and delicious. For the meal we shared the Abyssinia Vegetables which was a portion of everything on the veggie menu. The potatoes were outstanding along with all of the lentil dishes! Everything is extremely affordable with plenty of vegetarian options that could suit anyone’s appetite. Over all me and my friend had an amazing time and would recommend to anyone wanting to try an Ethiopian place!

Immediately walking into the restaurant the ambiance was amazing the lights and decor are gorgeous! There was music playing and colored lights! The service was super fast and nice. We got the full plate of vegetarian options and it was delicious!! The potatoes were especially good! Honestly if you’re looking for a cool looking place to eat with amazing tastes this place is perfect!
