Staff is extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, and the food and drinks are incredible. I highly recommend sharing several small plates (including the small plate option for pasta) so you can try as much as possible. They are also very accommodating in terms of dietary needs and preferences. The atmosphere is cozy and homey, yet elegant, and right for a first date, anniversary, dinner with friends, girl's night, or really any occasion!

Excellent meals and service. I had Greens and Beans, Grilled Octopus Polenta and Pappardelle with Wild Boar and my wife had Grilled Dates and Monkfish Oslo Bucco - everything was delicious. Panda Cotta and Pistachio Semifreddo for dessert - wonderful!

Went for brunch this morning on a visit to Pittsburgh, and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The service was wonderful, the atmosphere is warm, and, oh! the food... the eggs in purgatory were really delicious and different, and I am thoroughly excited to make ricotta pancakes every day for forever. Thanks for a great experience!

Amazing every time! I've never had a bad meal on multiple visits to Stagioni. The menu changes often and each time it gets better. The fresh mozzarella is to die for and all the pastas are fresh, homemade and cooked to perfection. Last night my husband and I tried the quail and it was very flavorful and tender. Can't wait to go back!

I walked in, and I was astounded by the rustic feel of the entire building. I sat at the bar and asked the owner for a drink recommendation. She made me an amazing mixed whiskey drink. Never had anything like it. I then proceeded to sit down and ordered the fresh mozzarella. It was to die for. I then ordered the wild boar with the polenta and kale. It was one of the best dishes that I have ever eaten. The boar melted in my mouth, and the flavors mingled so well. Overall, amazing experience there, and I will be back

Rich T. We've had dinner at Stagioni's several times, and we hosted a rehearsal dinner there a couple Friday's ago. The food has always been wonderful, and the rehearsal dinner was outstanding. The staff was very helpful and attentive during the rehearsal dinner, and I can't tell you how many of our guests told us that the food was just about the best they had ever eaten. The best man even praised the food at the rehearsal dinner during the reception toast the next day. We are looking forward to our next chance to go back to Stagioni's.

Italian Dining on the South Side. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening out with another couple at Stagioni. Our server Mike was wonderful and guided us through every step of our meals. The hand-formed mozzarella is not to be missed, as well as the oil poached tuna. The Mixed Greens and the Beets salads followed, beautiful to look at and each bite full of interesting flavor combinations. Three of us enjoyed full portions of pasta dishes - the fettucine, linguini, and gnocchi, The pasta was light, tender complimented by the different sauces. Our friend enjoyed the King Salmon and raved about the bed of butter beans it rested on. We wrapped up the evening with coffee, after dinner drinks and dessert of a creamy, decadent chocolate terrine with nectarine jam.

We were seated on the second floor of the restaurant in a lovely room with windows overlooking East Carson Street. The pace of the meal was very relaxed. I must mention what a difference a knowledgeable server makes! Mike answered all of our questions with patience, shared his recommendations, and really added a level of server we have not been fortunate enough to receive in Pittsburgh very often.

We already are making plans to return!

Will be back. We went for our anniversary and had an amazing meal. Had the flatbread, soup and fresh mozzerella plate for apps (we were hungry!) I had the duck and hubby had the boar. yes, boar. They were both fabulous!! Had some type of italian dessert that was very very good!! We will definitely return :)

Good but could have been better. The fresh mozzarella was exceptional. Still warm and paired very well with the prosciutto. The ricoota gnocchi were, unfortunately not what I expected. They were heavy, doughy and tasted very much like raw pasta dough. The ricotta cheesecake was true to Italian dessert form and very light and not too sweet. I would give them another chance just to go and have the the mozarella again. Hope the pasta is better next time!

Great first visit. We went to Stagioni for the first time last evening on the advice of a friend. We were not disappointed. It's BYOB with a modest $4 corking charge. I started with the beans and greens, a favorite of mine. The beans were creamy and the greens added just the right note of bitterness. My husband had the fig tart which arrive with an small arugula salad, a bit of gorgonzola, and a bit of pancetta. I think he would have like to have it twice. I followed the appetizer with a half order of the linguini...delicious. He opted for the pork chop on a bed of butternut squash and braised greens. The pork was extremely tender and the squash and greens were perfect with it. The service was attentive and kind. We look forward to more meals at Stagioni.

What a find.. What a tremendous place. Consistently terrific food. Make sure you ask for the special, haven't gone wrong yet.

So, I have consultants in from out of town and it's time to go to lunch. I figure, "What the heck, it's their dime, let's try this little place."
We walk in and immediately have that feeling that either we have discovered something special, or are going to be disappointed. Luckily it was the first.
Great service, delicious food.
It is so good, the consultants now plan their trips around the fact that they are closed on Mondays.

Cozy place, great food. I've been to Stagioni several times now and each time I leave I wonder why I don't go here more often.

The food is fresh and presented simply and not too fussy. The made to order mozzarella was a hit with our table. Creamy and flavorful - yum! Our entrees arrived a little too soon but they had a full house so I guess they were trying to be efficient. My fish was cooked perfectly which isn't always a given at a restaurant. The tiramisu was divine and exactly what it should be - light and fluffy but at the same time a little dense. I can't wait to return.

Awesome Brunch!. Brunch on Sunday is my favorite meal of the week. I went with a few friends to Stagioni and I was blown away. I think I found my new brunch spot in the city. The food was fresh and plentiful and the french press coffee was perfect. The owners were out and about in the dining room talking to tables and I appreciate that aspect of an intimate restaurant. The Egg in a Basket and Eggs in Purgatory were my two favorites out of a spread my friends and I shared. There was nothing I put in my mouth that was any less than amazing. I can't wait to come back and try dinner here.

Fantastic food and service. Everything I've had at Stagioni (two visits) has been amazing. However based on my most recent visit I need to crow about the onion tart app. And actually the Nutella mousse deserves a moan of pleasure or two.

Fresh and Delicious. I went here for lunch a few months back and can't believe I haven't been there since. Need to remedy that ASAP! The food was so fresh and lovingly prepared. I had a crispy thin cutlet topped with fresh greens and tomatoes. My dining companions both had housemade pasta with a tomato and eggplant sauce that looked amazing. The prices were a little higher than I normally pay for lunch in this town, but the quality was extraordinary. The service was great too.

Romantic or Fun, Great Dinner!. I have been to Stagioni twice, once with friends and once with my husband, and both times were amazing and fun. It is BYOB, which we love, and the food is made fresh to order and delicious. I ordered the linguini with clam sauce, which had homemade noodles, and then I ate the angel hair pasta that had lots of wonderful farmer's market veggies. And, when I asked for my leftovers to go, I swear they gave a whole new order of pasta in the container! And it was just as amazing the next day. It is small, but everyone is very friendly and the owner is always out and about checking on everything. We will definitely be back to see what exciting things are on the menu for winter!

Best restaurant in Bloomfield! Stagioni has been impressive each time I've visited there. The fresh pasta is always great, as is the mozzarella. Staff is very accommodating and even served us our wine on the sidewalk while we waited for a table. Overall, a great place for a casual meal with friends or a romantic night for two.

I came here the other night and had fresh pasta with a horseradish and arugula pesto, roasted peppers and lamb meatballs. The pasta itself was abolutely outstanding!! I loved the twist on the classic spaghetti and meatballs. The bread was great and there was plenty of it!

Had the Seafood linguini special. It was amazing. Homemade linguini and a garlic white wine reduction sauce with buttered breadcrumbs. Although it was a real small portion it probably the best garlic (oil type) Pasta I've ever had. Better than my own! (And mine rocks!)

Finding exquisite simplicity in creative complexity.. Simplicity in selection and show casing of common ingredients, complex in how artfully it all comes together to create food this is greater than the sum of all its parts. It is so refreshing and relaxing when you can surrender to a chef who guides you through their well conceived world, balancing taste, presentation, and portion size.

It's winter, and we ordered the persimmon special salad and trout special entree, the fig tart and braciole. The salad was wonderful- nicely dressed, well balanced with the bite of onions, the sweet persimmon, and peppery arugula. The trout was excellently prepared and seasoned, generous in the amount of fish, with its sweet apple salad topping melding wonderfully with the earthy carrot puree. The addition of simple risotto made the whole dish perfectly satisfying in every way.
The fig tart (deemed "unctuous" in by one reviewer in CP) was anything but- light, so simple, and the gorgonzola accompaniment was the real deal (not the overly sweet creamy lumps other places slap down). I questioned if the prosciutto in the dish was sliced too thickly, but seeing that everything else was handled so expertly, I opted to reason that thinner slicing may not have worked as well. My husband proclaimed the braciole one of the most delicate preparations of meat he has ever enjoyed, and the fresh pappardelle was cooked to al dente perfection.

The blood orange tart and ricotta cheese cake desserts matched the quality of our dinners, with the tart having such a full blood orange taste that it was like eating the fruit itself. The ricotta cheese care was light and airy, and both desserts were complimented by anise in their background flavors.

As for the reviewer below who bemoans the lack of a bread basket: fear not starch lovers- the attentive wait staff is always right on time with another piece. Brilliant really- no waste (no shame), and who goes to a restaurant just to fill up on bread? Also, my husband eats like a guppy, and anyone who says the portions are too small needs to step away from the all you can eat buffet style of "dining".

Great experience, excellent food and staff, look forward to returning!!!

Absolutely fabulous. This restaurant is a great little italian place. The menu was smalll and geared for a foodie and anyone who loves yummy food. The portions are totally adequate and many people had take out. Each course is perfectly prepared and much thought goes into creating a dish appeal to the eye and with a great taste. You should run, not walk to get dinner here!!!

Delicious. I adore this restaurant. We have been to dinner a few times and recently had Sunday brunch as well. Dinner was delicious, and the service was excellent as well. Brunch was also delicious but the service was much slower. I had the housemade pasta one night (cooked a bit long for my liking) along with a fig tart and a small salad-both were fantastic. However, on our brunch visit, I found the fig tart to be dry and a bit stale. Overall, this is one of my new favorites. BYOB and try and make a reservation.

MMM-MMM-GOOD!. The food was amazing! A very small intimate setting which makes for a perfect date. My boyrfriend and I got the Romaine salad and it was VERY tasty! For our entree's we got the beef brascoule and the rigatoni. We both came in very hungry and left very full! Portions are sized just right. Save room for dessert!!!!!! We will be back on a regular basis!

Intimate setting. A small, intimate restaurant that focuses on seasonal food. Had gnocchi and angel hair pasta (doubtful that the cherry tomatoes were seasonal in January). Everything was delicious. The individual portions are Italian (not American)sized so order a few courses if you are hungry. Was tempted to stay for the espresso... there is always next time. Great staff!

A new treasure in Bloomfield!. Stagioni was a pleasant surprise for dinner last evening. It's a quaint, but small venue--however, sitting at postage stamp-sized tables did not dissuade guests from enjoying a truly wonderful dining experience. However, If you're looking for spaghetti and meatballs, this isn't the place for you. The menu changes seasonally and includes sophisticated, tasty selections reminiscent of Northern Italy. We shared the salmon special and the potato gnocchi. Both entrees were simply amazing blends of tastes and flavors. Truly incredible! The bread is homemade, but mediocre. The owner is from a family of restaurant owners and is very enthusiastic about Stagioni and is truly vested in its success. Another plus is that a reasonable fee of $3/stem is charged for wine, rather than a ridiculously high corkage fee which seems to be common for BYOBs. This restaurant is definitely worth trying!

Delish!. My husband and I went in on a whim after reading about it online. We were actually on our way to have dinner in Shadyside, but decided to stop in there instead. Too bad for us, we didn't bring any wine to go with our dinner....which was excellent. I would highly recommend the fresh mozarella app. The roasted tomatoes that accompanied the dish (among other things) really complemented the cheese. I had the lamb with gnocchi - which were probably the lightest fluffiest gnocchi I have ever had. The hubs had the short ribs that were nothing short of spectacular. We are definitely going back - with wine!

Stagioni is for true food lovers. The new Stagioni Restaurant in Bloomfield (PIttsburgh's Little Italy) is not for everyone. If you like quality over quantity then maybe it is for you. The prices are average but the dishes are not. You see, Stagioni serves unusual entrees and the menu changes every 3 months (hence the name: "Seasons"). So, if you think you would like to experiment a little bit and try something different for a change; I highly recommend it!

Stagioni is a small, homey Italian restaurant that offers up seasonal ingredients to not only keep their food as fresh as possible, but to keep their menu fresh Bloomfield is known for its Italian heritage. I’ve covered their Little Italy Days festival but otherwise have not really touched on their Italian food scene. It’s embarrassing to say but it’s mostly because we haven’t had a whole lot of Italian in Bloomfield, it just hasn’t really happened yet. Stagioni, however, has been rolling around in my head ever since I was told that they did a great brunch. I’m not much of a brunch guy (Janey gets up at about 2pm on the weekends) but I was tickled slightly by Stagioni. I've been trying to write this article since February. Right now, according to Microsoft Word, I've been editing this article for 8174 minutes. When my friends and I had dinner at Stagioni, the temperature was 20* and there was snow on the ground. Today's date is May 12 and I'm listening to a spring shower through my open windows. In Italian, stagioni means "season", which is an adorable coincidence since it has already taken me two of them to write this article. Stagioni is a sweet little Italian restaurant in Bloomfield, Pittsburgh's Little Italy neighborhood. Stagioni refers to the restaurant's commitment to preparing meals with ingredients that are naturally available based on, well, nature! What a novel idea! This appeals to me for a couple of reasons. First, there is the obvious nutritional benefit of eating fresh foods. Also, I like that Stagioni is committed to buying food from Pittsburgh's famous Strip District. 8218 minutes. What an amazing find. Service was amazing, and very knowledgeable about wine and food on the menu. Todd was a truly delightful person to encounter during our visit. The decor and layout of the room reminded me of eating in Florence Italy. The gnocchi was a heavenly experience. So light and pillowy, I believe a third of each bite evaporated upon hitting my tongue. This place will absolutely require a return visit.

Perhaps the only Italian place where you can have an excellent meal and not eat any type of pasta. Make sure to order the fresh motzarella! It is often overlooked, bit the chef has mastered the art of salt and pepper. Once you taste it done right, you will know to appreciate it.

I feel privileged to have been one of the last people to have eaten at this fine restaurant. As usual, the food was fresh and fabulous! It was as good and the food I ate in Italy. This is a wonderful restaurant. The food is excellent, and so is the service and atmosphere. Had dinner there last night and everything we ordered was delicious. Fresh mozzarella with prosciutto, romaine salad, shrimp scampi, scallop and crab gratin, tiramisu. I love the building and the atmosphere. Keep it up - you are doing it right.

I found time to eat here on Sunday, and I was very happy that I did. My companions at the table were lovely, and the food was very good. The menu's signature drinks included a spritz with crème de violette, which immediately caught my attention. My server gladly accommodated my request to alter their recipe slightly when making my violetta. Refreshing! As for food, the offerings are basically salads, pasta, and pizza; however, there a several variations. Only one pasta, the gnocchi, is homemade, but it is excellent. I would return just for this. My only reservation would be that, because the portion is so large, I would definitely want to share it with someone next time.

Everything we had was absolutely delicious! Our waitress was incredibly helpful and all of her recommendations were spot on. The mozzarella was outstanding as were the goat cheese stuffed dates. The gnocchi and pasta with veal sauce were out of this world. To top it off we had Nutella mousse. That alone is worth the trip! Can’t wait to come back next time we are in Pittsburgh.

Wonderful food with a very quaint atmosphere! I highly recommend the stuffed dates wrapped with prosciutto and the eggplant Parmesan. Our waiter was superb and made us feel like we were like family. Love this place!

Visited Stagioni for the first time last night. Upon arrival we were greeted by our waiter who was incredibly nice and helpful. He gave us a good overview of the restaurant and explained the menu. We ordered the New Fashion, Aperol Spritz, and another spritz that I forget the name of and all were very good. We got the roasted dates as an appetizer and they were out of this world, I highly recommend them. The bread was also extremely good, had to get a second basket. For meals we got two orders of the gnocchi, a penne with vodka sauce, and a bolognese. Everything was cooked well, the gnocchi were light and airy, but all the dishes were lacking salt. I normally salt things on the lighter side when I cook so it’s rare that I find things lacking salt when I go out but each of these entrees would’ve benefited greatly from more salt being used. The flavors just didn’t really come out and shine like they could’ve. With that being said, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and everyone we talked to who worked there was pleasant and helpful. I will definitely go back and give the gnocchi another chance because it was so close to being great!

I came here for dinner on Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend. The service, the food, the drinks/wine, and the ambiance was great. I loved how our server took time to explain the menu, and offer recommendations. He was very attentive and professional. Overall, a lovely experience that I won’t forget, for good reason.

This was our fourth time having dinner here and it really does get better every time! The food and atmosphere are inviting, comfortable and wonderful. The only part of our visit that was better than the food was our waiter Hunter. It had been a little more than a year since our last visit and Hunter still remembered us! He always makes us feel welcome and is very genuine when interacting with guests. I really can’t recommend Stagioni and Hunter enough!

Everything we ordered was delicious. The cocktails were strong and flavorful. I love that they have half s things of the pasta dishes which are perfect for one sitting with no leftovers. Really wonderful all around.
