Always great shows here. Brandon is such a solid sound guy and everyone is always super supportive. Well worth the 25 stairs to load up. 11 out of 10. 6 stars if i could! Pittsburgh <3

First time to the Smiling Moose and it was a great experience! Bartenders were so nice and attentive to our needs. Excellent draft beer selection, food was good and especially loved the pasta salad! Would definitely go back in the future.

The food (pasta and sliders) and beer (so many choices) were amazing. The in-house sound was killer! Only downside is parking. But, hey, it's Pittsburgh

Love the food. My friend and I came down for a casting call on 31st street and stopped here for lunch. Excellent bar tender for us today!!! Her name is kridden. She was very social and friendly. I recommend anyone who comes to Pittsburgh to stop by and get a bite to eat. :)

Friendly bar staff Fun drinks Good food Fun vibe Got the pierogi, which comes deep fried with the most incredible onion jam. The pierogi tasted like Mrs T's from the frozen section but that jam did laps around the restaurant. It was incredible. My friend got the pink drink which tasted like pink and white animal cookies. A fun place to stop on a stumble down Carson.

Fun place! Neat to have a concert space up in the top floor and another stage downstairs with the main bar. I was satisfied with the customer service and treatment from staff.

Bar staff and patrons very friendly. Website advertised food , but none. Bar seemed nice, semi crowded. A smoking establishment so if this bothers you steer clear.

Nicole the bartender is a Rockstar. My friends and I were coming from soccer and she took care of everything we need. She helped us with our fruity beers, our iron city beers and helped with all of our food requests.

I’ve been to so many great shows here - I love this venue. It’s small enough and gives an intimate vibe which is really good! The staff has always been friendly and the food is REALLY nice.

The food is great, free entertainment that's out there and the bartenders don't screw around!

I love this place. The prices at Smiling Moose are more fitting of a small-town hole-in-the-wall dive bar than they are South Side. The bartenders are always super nice. There are very different vibes upstairs vs downstairs. Downstairs has plenty of seating and tables, but upstairs is basically a concert venue with a stage and bar in the back. They have $3 drinks specials from either 9-11 or 10-12 every night. Also $1.50 PBRs on special on Saturdays. This place is great.

I fancied the steak and cheese very much it had fine grace full bread and the meat was much amazing. It came alive and melted in my watering mouth. The cheese steak had fine home made beer cheese in it as well and it was much delicious. For an appetizer, i got the scrumptious loaded tots. It had a perfected acidity sour cream with tasteful queso. I had deep affection with my dapper meal and my glistening iced tea. The whole menu was also very appealing. The asticks very elegant and I adore the name Smiling Mose such a majestic name.

My bf and I discovered that they now have a full menu of many different foods and decided to try it. We tried the shrimp tacos, regular cheeseburger, and pasta salad, and I give all of it a 10/10. With so many concert venues going under I am glad to see at least one of my favorites still thriving. The food doesn’t even have to be good for me to support them, but it was awesome. would definitely eat here again

*** I've only been to the concert venue upstairs, I haven't been to the bar/restaurant at all beyond walking through to get upstairs*** Very nice venue. Good atmosphere, intimate with the bands and other concertgoers. The bar staff happily provide free water. There are bathrooms for men and women inside the venue, the men's room is nicer than most public restrooms. The venue can be kind of crowded, if you don't like being surrounded by people, this may not be the place for you. The bar downstairs is normally pretty full as well, even on weeknights.

Good space considering location, not too pricey, good sound system and separation of space. Nice attentive bartenders for the crowd.

A great small restaurant, bar, and music venue. The food is quite good, with plenty of unique options, and there's usually a variety of beers available. The upstairs venue is great for catching some lesser known bands when they happen to pass through town. The acoustics leave a bit to be desired, but I'm not sure what can be done with its small size. It can also be a bit of a pain for all ages shows, because the over 21 bar area that they cordon off fits about 5 people comfortably, but that's a minor complaint.

Loved this bar. We heard 50’s music to Gwar on steady rotation and they have good priced beers and drinks! The atmosphere was great. It’s more of a hole in the wall bar but nicer than most! We will return when we visit again for sure!! Good times were had!
