Fried chicken is to die for and the delicious sauces make it next level. Empanadas are flavorful with a perfectly thin pastry crust. Reasonably priced. Will definitely be back for more!
The best empanadas in the Burgh period !! But why aren't you open on Monday ? There are me and 3 buddies that are all golf pros and only off on Mondays . We bring it up every Monday that we want empanadas but can't get them. !! Please open on Monday !!!
Had the mushroom and pumpkin empanadas with sauce. Delicious!! Will definitely be back.
The food was so delicious!! I had the spicy chili garlic oil noodles with fried chicken in it and a pollo empanada! I really want to highlight the awesome customer service that we received. The staff member at the front was so accommodating and friendly to my group. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Just a quick review here as we got the order to go, so nothing to say about the store itself or service. I got the Shoyu Ramen, which was interesting because it had chicken nuggets in it. It actually turned out to be pretty good, although I wouldn't normally pair those two together. I tend to not eat much fried stuff, so in ramen, it's usually tonkatsu or maybe wonton if they have that, but they only had a few ramen choices here. Two of them had battered or fried options, the other two were spicy versions which I hadn't heard great things about.
So the nuggets by themselves were pretty good nuggets and the ramen was also good. Together, different. I would say this place definitely has added a uniqueness to their food offerings.
Always a delight to eat here. One of our favorite Japanese cuisine locations after moving from Japan. While you are there, ask for Spence, he is the life of that spot. It is nice that he remembers me and the wife each time. He makes the dinning experience great. A must stop by.
I’m totally a tourist in Pittsburgh. We saw this on the map and figured we’d give it a shot. Every single bite of my bao bun was literally so good. It was incredible! And make sure you try the Brazilian limeade!!! I wish I could bring a gallon home with me!

I saw this business shared on a food IG page and knew I wanted to make a trip to try it. We went 1.5 hours out of our way to try this meal and made a trip of it of course, but overall we’re pleased with the food and our experience.
There was a large menu of food options with daily specials. The seating is limited but the food doesn’t take that long to get so I imagine the wait isn’t super long when busy.
I took my 4 kids here with me and we wanted to try a variety of menu items so we got 7 things to taste test. My kids like udon and noodle dishes so they were very excited. We ordered the chicken and biscuits w/ gravy, miso ramen, shiyo udon, garlic chili oil noodles, beef empanada, waffle fries with nori powder, and the hot chicken bao bun. The lady taking our order was awesome. She gave us suggestions on things to order, told us if things were spicy and asked if we wanted sauces on the side so that my kids could try them in the chance they were too spicy.
Our food came out rather quickly but was fresh and plated nicely. I’ll share what we liked and didn’t like with specifics, as our dislikes might be others likes and vice versa. The miso and ramen were hits, good broth. My kids didn’t like the mushrooms as they were very chewy. The chili oil noodles were great, but very spicy so the kids just had a few bites. The empanada was good (had a quail egg in it which was a fun surprise as well as olives - my hubby would have died if he ordered it). The chimichurri sauce served with it was phenomenal and I wanted to dip everything in it. The bao bun was good and I would recommend. It was small so if you order that, it’s just a side item. The chicken in the chicken and biscuits was cooked so well with a nice light crunch and flavorful. I didn’t enjoy the flavor of the biscuit, even with gravy on it. I would order other friend chicken menu items but probably not that same one again. I’m not sure what I didn’t like, but there was a peculiar flavor in the biscuit that I didn’t enjoy. The waffle fries had such a nice flavor and were ate up quickly by my gang.
Overall the food was good, the portions were nice, but the food was pricey. We spent ~$90 on everything. If we were in the area, we would probably return but I love trying new places so this wouldn’t be one I would go out of my way for.
The spicy miso ramen is amazing for vegans. The cucumber pickles and cauliflower nugs that come with it are just so good. Make sure to ask for it veganized. I tried their curry udon and it was over seasoned with unincorporated grits of curry powder everywhere. Do not recommend.
Great Ramen and Korean Fried Chicken Spot. I would recommend giving the empanadas a try as well. Bao buns were pretty standard. Star of the show here is the noodles. You can't go wrong with any of the options in the board.
During our time in Tokyo, my partner and I got hopelessly addicted to yangnyeom chicken and were hoping that the gochujang glaze would be the next best thing. It wasn't -- plenty of heat, but no other flavor of note -- but the chicken itself was fantastic. Made my car smell very good on the ride home.
The nuggets were really interesting. More like a tempura batter compared to the robust breading on the bone-in chicken, and seasoned well with a healthy pile of black sesame seeds. I'd happily eat those again.
Good noodles, buns, and service (and excellent/convenient location; street parking was a breeze)!

I was craving fried chicken so I Google “Best fried chicken in Pittsburgh”, this place showed up and it was nearby, so I tried it. This is not your usual fried chicken restaurant, it is Asian so I was somehow hesitant but I was in the mood for fried chicken so I ordered for me, my wife and my kids. We ordered fried check 8 pieces, fried cauliflower, Chicken sandwich, nuggets and kids meal: Roman with nuggets. My review is very simple:
this is the best fried chicken I ate in a very long time, and definitely the best in PGH. Highly recommend
We were thrilled. Just when you think fusion restaurants are done, Nanban proves they're still relevant. I ordered the Shio Ramen, a flavor party with pork belly & mushrooms. Rich got the Gochujang drumsticks, but they were happy to substitute chicken breast, on a biscuit with gravy. Both meals were delicious and the service was 5-star
The chicken was fried perfection and the sauces we had were beyond good. My wife and I enjoyed the beef empanada as well.
The prices were surprisingly reasonable given the area
Absolutely incredible food! Some of the best I’ve ever eaten and lovely service and atmosphere. Empanadas, buns, ramen, fried chicken sandwich, and lemongrass sweet tea were all delicious. Will definitely be coming back for more
This is an awesome place. It's the people who ran Ki Pollo and Ki Ramen under one roof. The customer service is amazing and the people are patient. The food was good. The ramen was delish. I got the shoyu ramen and it lacked salt. The shio ramen broth was perfect. 🍜 I will be back to try some new stuff. The menu is very large.
