Quality food and generous portions. The service was also great. Would recommend this place.
Best sushi in Pittsburgh.
It was my Husband and I first time going. I’m always in squirrel hill. OMG the dumplings were so amazing! I wanted to marry the staff. I got the hot sesame oil dumplings and scallion potato cakes. My Husband got shrimp dumplings and spicy fish filet. We were EXTREMELY satisfied. Staff was friendly and we are definitely coming back. Very high recommendation.
Edited: The restaurant is soon to be Amazing Dumplings. Well, they sure are! New reopening with a limited menu filled with new items of handmade dumplings and handmade noodles!

The north west foods of China served here are forever my favorite. Now they have 扯面! Chewy, delicious belt noodles. I first had 扯面 in NYC at Xi'an Famous Foods (the original) and I craved it in Pittsburgh. Now we have it.
Also: Lamb soup with pita is my go to from here.
Even before it rebranded as Amazing Dumplings, this restaurant has been a staple for me with their emphasis on Northern Chinese food (noodles, dumplings, buns, etc). But now as Amazing Dumplings, they have really focused their menu and palate to one of my favorite foods (dumps!) and created a wide variety of exciting dumplings flavors (kung pao chicken filling, and lotus root filling!) that are also visually dynamic (natural dyes!). The owners and staff are all very caring, and will help lead you through and explain the menu if you have questions or need recommendations. They also still have the noodles which made me fall in love with them in the first place, so don't forget to explore the non-dumpling items (egg tomato noodles!), all delicious too!
Wow, very big portions you wont go hungry. The food is quite tast and service is very good. Did not try the sushi but other people seem to like it. Their lamb soup contained tons of lamb. Fresh ingredients and very interesting flavors you don't usually see in extremely Americanized asian food.
The service here is great! The waiter is very enthusiastic! On call! On call! The dishes are very authentic! Meat hamburger is highly recommended! The hamburger is the most authentic hamburger I have ever had! Be sure to have a try or you will regret it!
This was a small order of fried rice and low mein. Definitely get your money’s worth. There was a bit of a wait with no other costumers in the store, but you get your money’s worth.
This place changed into Amazing Dumplings featuring northern Chinese food. I’m so happy they’ve embraced their roots because northern Chinese food is delicious. Their hand pulled noodles are flavorful and a specialty (hard to find anywhere else in Pitts with this texture). Their variety style dumplings were also a delight. The only downside is sometimes their wait. I think they’re learning their groove with the transition to these new recipes but other than that I recc anyone to try this place out.
Sakura is my wife and I's favorite local restaurant. The food is fantastic; our favorites are the hand-torn noodles, wood-bucket chiken, and the sushi. The decor is very comfortable and homey, and the owners and staff are always so nice. I cannot recommend Sakura enough!
Where do you take a pizza maker on his night off? To eat the world's most delicious noodles, dumplings, and fried chicken! That's where! Service is great but the food is out of this world! Run! Don't walk to get some.
The dumplings and sushi are amazing the food is okay. Service is good and the place is small, basic and drafty. But if you are looking for the cutest dumplings (they are beautiful and good but cold by the time you get them) and amazing sushi this place is very good.
Incredible food here. Really love the new pared down menu. These are seriously the best dumplings in pittsburgh, the hand drawn noodles are not to be skipped, and whatever you do, you must get the sandwiches. sounds odd but they make them w the same dough as the scallion pancakes and ho-lee-wow-za. also the owner is incredibly kind and its BYOB!
Where do I start? We went here on a Wednesday at about 6pm in the winter time. Party of 4. No wait time. Perfect. The menu is amazing variety but not too much, so we get a little bit of vastly different things. While waiting for our entrees, the chef comes out, and asks us to try something. She has a plate with 4 sushi she's trying out for the menu and asks our thoughts. They were fantastic. Then the meals come. Their mala hot pots are done perfectly. The sushi was amazing. I forget the name of the dish I tried, but it was the perfect balance of flavor with impressive portions.
The wait staff, the chef, the wholesomeness, the family feel. This is what small businesses are all about. I thank them for such a delightful dining experience, and will be coming back with different friends on a regular recurrence to share the basic.
Real good experience here. The staff was very friendly. The wait for the food to come out was a bit longer than desired, but other than that pretty solid. I got the shrimp lomein and got them to make it spicy. It was a surprise that it was actually spicy. Most places fail in that regard. Then I also got a spicy yellow fin roll. The sushi was excellent. I would definitely return. Next time I would get the hotpot. Oh also they offer hotpots which is awesome and rare.
Must try the Laotongguan pork sandwich. Very interesting texture on the bun and the pork is just perfect. I had the chili oil noodles and they were very spicy, which I loved, but the handmade noodles were the best part of the dish. My partner had the hot lamb noodle soup which was also great, our waitress even commented how it’s one of her favorites. Can’t wait to go again.

I'll give you the good and the not so good.
The good: great hand made noodles, hand made pork dumplings, and BBQ pork bun. Loved the authentic preparation on the noodles with amazing crispy chili oil & bock choy. The BBQ pork bun had great textire and 5 spice prominent flavors. The dumplings were fantastic with great texture and flavor.
The not so good: The sushi was lacking & expensive. I would expect real crab when the price of a roll is $19 or $20. Sushi rolls were over-sauced. The shrimp tempura was a frozen product, not made in house. When walking down the street, every restaurant was packed. When we entered Sakura, we were the only table there in a massive dining room. No music, dead silence. It was kind of eerie considering how busy all the other restaurants on the block were. Overall, it feels like this place is trying to offer too many things instead of honing in on what they are clearly very good at. Why not focus on the authentic preparations and flavors instead of trying to please every palette? I would go back for the hand made noodles & dumplings. Sushi is being done at a very high level at so many places in the city, therefore I'd pass on it at this location.
While the restaurant brands itself with Japanese cuisine. In fact it is a hidden treasure of northwestern style Chinese cuisine. I rarely find this cuisine style in the US. If you are unsure which part of the menu is northwestern cuisine, try their lamb dishes and noodle dishes. It's quite authentic.
Delish dumplings and noodles. Also, the scallion pancakes are literally the best in Pittsburgh. Hands down. Highly recommend this spot and the owner is a wonderful person, too!!!
