The atmosphere puts me in the mood. I'm like "yo, I don't know how I got here but I like it" and then the servers are always top tier friendliness, it feels like everyone is having a good time.
The food is amazing. I've had every sushi specialty roll, stuffs tight! The kung-pao chicken, Mongolian beef, and Thai fried rice arouse my taste buds to hype af levels. Honestly, best Asian cuisine around, worth the money, great portions, good food, and it's super spicy, which is great. Finally something is as fire as my mixtape
Still the best sushi in all of Southwest Michigan. The best cuts of fish and hands down the best spicy tuna roll. The only place in town that uses actual pieces of tuna instead of "shredded" tuna
The menu at Wild Ginger is so vast, you can visit dozens of times and eat a different meal each time. And the food is always great! Good beer and wine selection, too!
Everything was so delicious with giant portion sizes. From my margarita, to the calamari to the lomein, all super yummy! Plus, our server was very nice and helpful.
The food is always expertly prepared with delicious, fresh ingredients. The spices are just right, and the meats are always tender. I can't tell you about the sushi personally, but my friend really liked it. He said it was some of the best sushi he's ever had.
Wild Ginger is probably one of the Kalamazoo area's best kept secrets.
I worked in restaurants my entire life,40 years of of it anyhow. People complain about service taking so long. If you want fast food go to a drive-thru but in a classy restaurant you what time in between your appetizer and or soup and salad before you're entree arrives. I don't want it all at once. I give it 5 stars absolutely fabulous food best in town. people were kind, prices are reasonable. Could not come up with one negative thing about Wild Ginger. And delivery was quick I will be back... We continue to be impressed with wild ginger. Never had a bad experience. Their appetizers are outstanding, great wide ranging menu - something for everyone. Very high quality food. They'd be number one for Asian food in the region (with sushi and Thai it's way more than Chinese) if it weren't for Chinn Chinn in Mattawan. Nice spacious atmosphere -- good for a date or a big group.
Best sushi ever. Well worth the long wait!!! Definitely recommend!!!!
Always good service, we love the sushi. My wife and I always enjoy eating here. Idk what half these people are whining about the food is great.
Couldn't be better - this place deserves a solid 5.0. The 4 of us have eaten all varieties of Asian food all over the globe, and all of us were impressed with the freshness, presentation, and value with everything we tasted. Soups, apps, entrees were all terrific. Standouts included the crab Rangoons, samurai buns (with beef), and the sushi quesadilla. Both more traditional and fusion dishes were equally strong. Deserves more business and a much higher rating. First rate.
Great gem in @portage Michigan for fusion food ! We went with a local group of friends from Lighting Kicks Martial Arts after a phenomenal training session! After my workshop, I was hungry and they said this a good place. In my opinion: a fantastic place! Friendly staff and prompt service !
It's very rare I leave lower than 5 star reviews, but this place was an odd one. We ordered hot and sour soup, which was good, pot stickers were great, sushi came out wrong 2 times. Pad Thai which is in the pic was more like pad soup a made up dish. This restaurant is confused as to what type of food they make. Definitely not Thai
All in all very filling and flavorful dinner. Ordered many different things. We like a plethora our first visit. So exciting.
Wouldn't mind coming back when in the area again.
Wild Ginger is a fantastic place to dine. Great food. I ordered Pad Thai and spring rolls. Wonderful. The Pad Thai comes in different spice heat levels. I ordered whatever it comes with. If you like spicy foods, this is one you would love. I love spicy food too but I would go down one level of heat.
My husband ordered the teriyaki chicken with fried rice. He loved it.
The restaurant is clean and the waitress was kind.
We will definitely go back.
UPDATED REVIEW 3/24/23: Hasn't changed a bit 👍🏻
UPDATED REVIEW 9/8/22: Still awesome! Service is still great and the sushi is wonderful!

Came here with friends on Saturday. The service was great to start off. I really like the interior, especially with the bamboo. The crab rangoons are fantastic, really as good as they say they are. The spring rolls were great as well, and the hornet roll was good, really fresh, no fishy flavor (Which is how sushi is supposed to be).
All the other Chinese and Asian restaurants were take out only AGAIN due to covid. Thankfully Wild Ginger was open for dine in and I have wanted to try it anyway. I had the Shanghai stew and my wife had the Thai basil. Both were very good. We also had the seaweed salad and was better than I have had in a long time. The blue cheese wonton were dry but the sauces were good. The staff were friendly and the chef came out to see if we were pleased. A very enjoyable experience.
I went here with my boyfriend and we were impressed. Their dinner portions were actually pretty large and the price was fair for the amount of food we got. They have quite a few vegetarian options (all of which can be made vegan 😊) We loved the vegetable maki rolls, it was the best sushi I've had. We will definitely eat here again!
Pretty decent. I came here before any major traffic so it was nice & quiet. Employees are friendly. General tso chicken was good. Hot & Sour Soup was really tasty. Tried a Spider sushi roll for the first time and it was ok. I prefer something with a little more spice & flavor. Loved my lemon martini, I wouldn’t mind coming back.
This place will close in the next couple of months, and I, for one, will be sad to see them go. The food is always very delicious and made just the way it's pictured in the menu. I'll be stopping in several more times before they close in September.
First time coming here, loved the ambience. Food is yummy. Definitely recommended place. Waiter here is absolutely nice and welcoming.
When we walked in there were no diners and almost left. So happy we stayed. Everything was outstanding; food and service. I had Pad Thai and hubby tried a variety of things. Serving sizes were generous. I had shrimp and was so surprised that it was deveined, a good size and there were over 14. Only able to eat about half so requested take away and got reusable plastic containers. This place is a hidden gem!! So sorry I didn't take pictures. Will definitely be back. Also, did notice a lot of take away customers in and out with big bags!!
Sadly, Wild Ginger is closing soon. But for many nights over the last couple years we have gotten food from them and it’s always been great! I will really miss the General Tso, wish I could get their recipe!
Even they seemed understaffed, the server checks and delivered great service. Second time here, check them out.
One of my go-to spots in Portage. Great value, generous portions, and food is always fresh and tasty.
This is one of my favorite sushi places, all the sushi is really good, i think my favorite are the Dream Roll and the House Roll
We haven't been to a Chinese in over 2 years with finding all were buffet and not clean. This coconut chicken and orange chicken was amazing. You can tell the sauce is homemade. We are happy to find a great Chinese place again. Very friendly staff.
