Talk about a hidden gem. If you’re staying downtown it’s a 20-30 minute walk up into a more residential area. But worth the trip.
Everything from the appetizer to the main courses to dessert was terrific. Try the rabbit with pappardelle or wild mushroom crepes. We started with the Brussels sprouts salad. (You’ll be inspired to try it at home.)
Nice wine and beer selection. Terrific service (thank you Eugene!).
We had been in awhile, as we do not get to this side of town often. But luckily we had the opportunity to enjoy and excellent meal, wine, and cognac here. Eugene, our waiter was wonderful! If you have not dined here, you are missing a neighborhood gem!
Great hostess, waiter, bartender, cooks and busier! Loved the space, food and cocktails!
The food was excellent. I started with razor clams in brown butter, then the lamp chops with an arugula and lentil salad. Both were perfect. The profiteroles for desert.
My favorite restaurant in Portland. Great food and friendly people.
We had a reservation a couple blocks away, who did not serve there main course an hour before close. We decided on bar Mingo as a second coice(should have been first). We where not dissapointed, the lamb meatballs and pork shank where exceptional, and matched with great service. I'll have no problem recommending them and will be back to try more. Thanks.
Always an amazing food experience with excellent service!!!
The baretender is awesome!!!
The ambiance is intimately casual, staff is professional yet friendly and attentive, bathrooms are clean with a delicate touch of long-stemmed white Casa Blanca lilies (my favorite) to natutally fragrant the room, drinks are delicious and fairly priced, and THE FOOD IS AMAZING, especially the desserts!!! Thank you for a wonderful dining experince, Bar Mingo! #PortlandGem #musteat #salute
Excellent time - certainly careered to the red done drinker :)
Pasta was good, but a bit too salty for me. I've had better in the neighborhood. Expensive. 3 stars.
We got take out pizzas on a different day. They were awesome. Great thin crust and the toppings were great. 5 stars.
Average to 4 stars...
Exquisite, upscale, Italian bar and lounge. Our server, Eric/D'Eric/James/Jameson, was patient, informative, and playful with our varied group of five. The Malbec wine was just what I wanted (a little bite, but full and smooth). The Zin had a deep, full body flavor. The oil and salt with the bread was simple in presentation, but a fantastic play of flavors on the tongue. The calamari was so much easier to eat not being fried, and the garlic aioli sauce that went with it was more than pleasing. Kudos to the bartender who made my Irish Coffee: it was the best made one I've had. Lastly, it was a wonderful experience that we were able to take our drinks with us, from Bar Mingo, to Caffe Mingo.
Delicious meal and wonderful service. The spaghetti was the perfect kick of acidity to balance the light creaminess of the lasagna. Acorn squash was buttery and smooth. And we got three bread “refills” because it was so tender. Great experience!!!
Delicious salad with savory porchini mushrooms, peppery greens, sweet red onions, crumbly shaved parmesan and a toasted pine nuts vinaigrette. Delicate, pillowy gnocchi in a bright tomato-butter sauce. Crusty bread served with coarsely flaked salt and the most delicious fruity olive oil I've ever tasted.
Also: thoughtful, friendly service. Comfortable seating, cozy decor.
It may be Goldilocks’ version of upscale Italian dining. Everything was ... just right.
Bar Mingo has quickly become one of my favorite dining spots in the city. From a great happy hour, a decadent and delicious menu, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere and staff I'd highly recommend stopping by for a drink, some amazing food and service, and phenomenal dessert!
Really like this place! Delicious food made very fresh, seasonal, with excellent ingredients. Delicious! Pizzas are especially good with thin chewy-crisp crusts and just-right amount of toppings.
Incredible food and service, great location, and perfectly low key space. We'll be back soon!
This place was an absolute delight. The environment was warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was unassumingly delicious and simple. There was no wait, and everything we ate was excellent. It’s the perfect place for date night or catching up with a friend. We will definitely be back again soon.
The Pesto Alfredo and Sugo Beef were exquisite dishes of very high quality. We look forward to returning for an Italian getaway well worth the trip.
Spectacular food and drink in an obviously well managed restaurant run by a solid team. Our server was likable, warm, and knowledgeable without any pretension
Amazing food, impeccable service. Servers had an unfortunate situation with an inebriated take-out customer and they all handled it with grace and respect. Highly suggest you pop in for a pizze and burrata e pane!
Great happy hour apps, great food! Really liked the atmosphere!
Great atmosphere and servers, there's always different specials, wine and beverage specials on happy hour, and excellent food. Had the lasagna last night, and have had the Halibut special on numerous occasions, always very reliable. Highly recommend
Came here on a Tuesday Happy Hour to meet an out of town friend. By the end of our nearly 2 hour stay, we had sampled most of the happy hour menu, including martinis, house red wine (a great Chianti), house white wine, the lamb meatballs. Polenta, calamari and a cold meat platter. Great staff and a true neighborhood gem!
Warm atmosphere and great food, with servers that know the menu because they eat there. It's in a popular neighborhood, and the space is limited, so reservations are a good idea. If you are just one or two, they have bar seating, and a nice little seating / waiting area that they are happy to start serving you at.
Consistently excellent food at very reasonable prices. Knowledgeable staff, especially when it comes to suggesting wine pairings. We make Bar Mingo a must stop whenever we visit Portland. Their cocktails are always delicious, too!
Bar Mingo is always an excellent choice. Navisphere is warm and welcoming. They have nice staff. The food is excellent gourmet and a little bit California cuisine e. And Italian specialties that include pasta with espresso interesting combination. So, there you have it
