I LOVE this spot!! A friend recommended it while I was it town and it was outstanding. Simple but we'll prepared dishes with tons of flavor. The wings are excellent!!! Salty and crispy! Definitely try them!
We also tried the prawns in a hot clay pot and it was sizzling and so yummy. Loved the glass noodles!
We tried the Thai curry and the spicy peanuts. I loved everything here!
We also had the mango with sticky rice. It was so delicious and a perfect finish!
Came here on a Saturday afternoon with friends! We waited probably 20 minutes but got a nice table on the second floor! I had heard a lot about this place and seen the lines so I was excited to try it out.
Food: DEFINITELY get the soy wings if you come, they were really tasty and had a unique flavor and I really really do recommend getting them. We also got the khao neu which had a bit too much coconut milk we felt but was still good. I would also recommend the coconut ice cream sandwich! It’s a real sandwich with bread too!
Service: The people seemed a bit impatient with us but we got our food fast!
Ambiance: This place is super casual!
Definitely would want to come back and get the wings again!
This is possibly one of the best restaurants in Portland. The ambiance and feel is perfect. The waiter was fantastic from making sure we where taken care of to making the sure we where getting the most immersive experiences. Then there is the food! Every dish was cooked to perfection, the flavors where a symphony, each one more amazing than the last. If you are in the area you must try this place out!
This place was just fantastic. Had to wait about 30 minutes for a spot at the bar, but I hung in there with absolutely no regrets. I ordered their Thai wings and the Muslim curry beef noodle soup. Delicious. The wings alone are worth a visit to this spot. To top it all off, the bartenders were knowledgeable, attentive, and overall displayed a great deal of professionalism. As someone just here on vacation, I can easily say this was the highlight of all of my food-related ventures.
One of the most unique Thai place I've been. Super casual environment and really friendly staff. We ordered the wings (like everybody else), pork belly with prawns in glass noodle and curry beef. Every dish was well cooked. Definitely want to come back and try the other dishes.
Beware of the chile's! They'll really get you! But the food has great flavors. And the sticky rice and mango dessert was delectable. But honestly, two people who can usually have quite a bit of heat tearing up from accidentally getting a bite of a chile, the food otherwise wasn't too spicey.
Really authentic flavors, unique Thai Street food that you can't normally get... Don't expect pad Thai or other such items. Their drink menu is also adventurous, thoughtful and creative with fusion elements bringing east and west flavors together. The decor makes you really feel that you are in a small village in Thailand. We also felt that the chicken with the 2 dipping sauces (second item on the menu) was the highlight for food, even better than the wings everyone raves about. Service was also very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a wonderful lunch!
This place is already known for good food so nothing much I can add further but I would like to share my 2cents for their small details.
The water served was i think mixed with Coconut water or something with Coconut.
Normally it will be just a tap or still water but this small difference looked their key to success. In addition, they served two corns with Coconut cream which we ordered one but the corns were small so we got two of them.
Great service and food!
SNGW!
I don't come down to Portland often. The last time I tried to go to Pok Pok several years ago, it was closed! This time I was successful in eating at Pok Pok, the indoor dining area is small & cozy. They have outside dining area plus take out. Apparently the takeout menu is different from the dining menu. They had a Tom Yum ramen for takeout that was not available for dining in. We had the famous chicken wings, it live up to it's reputation & diners review about it. They weren't kidding- it was OMG! We also ordered the Pok Pok special with half a BBQ chicken with 2 yummy & different dipping sauce served with the papaya salad & glutinous rice in a basket. The papaya salad was yummy... chicken was tender & juicy, their dipping sauces were good. One was spicy & the other was sweet & sour, both were good. Service was good, bring our first time there, the server recommended the Pok Pok special. All in all, a yummy experience! Until next time.
Honestly, the food is delicious. But the rice portions for the price are ridiculously overpriced. The server that we had was very knowledgeable, but he admitted that he had more knowledge due to his stay abroug. Wings are a must when you visit. The pork belly was good, but not enough for the portion they serve.
Delicious and spicy food! The dishes are a little overpriced and are on the smaller size. The wait is also ridiculous. On a Saturday night, the wait was 1.5 hours. On a Sunday afternoon, the wait was 30 min. I suggest going during off-peak hours if you really wanna try the food. Definitely delicious and worth the hype.
Really delicious and authentic, thai and vietnamese food! Love the spicy, bold flavors and inventive combinations! The little mustard leaves on ice are a lifesaver for when the spice starts to get intense and highly appreciated. It's a bit expensive and portions are a touch small, but the quality of the food is excellent all the same 😁
Pork Bao with bone-in is amazing!! $5. Fish sauce wings is very flavorful but definitely smells like fish sauce even after you've eaten it. $14. Overall, very good!
45 minute wait to start was a sign to me that this place had good food. Sat outside and was welcomed by friendly waitstaff and comfortable atmosphere with relaxing music. We sat outside on the patio and got started with the complimentary peanuts. The vinegar drinks were tasty and the Cha Yen iced tea with milk was refreshing. We ordered the Neua Naam Tok (spicy Isaan flank steak), with a side of sticky rice. It is spicy so the rice came in handy. It had onions, cilantro and some spices all over it, not for people with sensitive taste buds. The next dish we ordered was the Ike's fish sauce wings. These wings are large and the 6 is like 12, and they are delicious. We ate everything that came out and would love to come back if we visit this area again.
We had dinner on a weekday, around 1900. There was only a 15 min wait - you can either wait for your name to be called or they can text you when your table is ready. This place can get pretty busy - 5 min after we put our name in, there was a line of 10 people doing the same thing. Small restaurant but the food was so good! If you like spicy, this is the place. There are some items that are not spicy, make sure to confirm with the server. Dishes are meant to be shared. Must try the wings (spicy or mild) & the papaya salad (super spicy). Definitely adding this to my must eat in Portland list!
We loved this place amazing great atmosphere (except the flies, you can say the added to the settings but they needs fans to keep flies away. We had such a good time I'm going to excuse this).
There was a wait. But food was really good. I really enjoyed the experience.
First tried the fish sauce wings in Pok Pok NY, so I couldn't wait to have them at the OG establishment. We ordered the beef curry noodles, vego coconut curry noodles, and crispy egg salad as well - nothing disappointed! Great Northern Thai flavours, caters well to vegetarians, and 2 satisfyingly full customers.
We heard alot of things about pok pok when we were on our road trip in Oregon, so we decided that we needed to give it a try. We were surprised by the environment, it has a very authentic South Asian atmosphere and it looked like it was an extension to a single family home. The wait is LONG, we waited over an hour to be seated and was slightly rushed by our server. The food had a tremendous amount of flavor and was really good, but I don't believe it was worth the wait in my opinion. We ordered the pork belly curry and the sweet chicken wings. Both were outstanding, but we were exhausted from the wait to really enjoy our food. Kinda wish they had a more efficient service.
LOVE this place. Of course, the spicy wings are amazing. Crisp. Spicy. Sweet. And a touch of funk from the fish sauce. But because people talk about the wings so much, it's hard to know how good the rest of the menu is. The eggplant was subtly smoky with a little bit of acid (and more fish sauce), and came together in way that was reminiscent of my childhood (I'm Filipino). The curry was powerfully flavorful without being overwhelming. Just rich, saucy, and meaty. Perfect with a bowl of hot white rice. Grab a beer and have a perfect afternoon.
