When you are at The Original House of Pancakes, it truly feels like a home away from home. The moment you step inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere welcomes you with the food giving it that genuine home-cooked feel.
The quality of the ingredients used in their dishes is evident in every bite. It's clear that they take great care in selecting the finest ingredients, resulting in delightful flavors that remind you of a homemade meal.
The portion sizes are generous, making every visit a satisfying experience. The sourdough pancakes and chocolate chip pancakes are definite highlights. Their fluffy texture and rich flavor make them an absolute favorite for my family and me.
But what truly sets this place apart is Jo, who has a remarkable ability to make you feel like part of the family from your very first visit. Her warm hospitality and genuine care for customers are one of the main reasons we keep coming back regularly. The Original House of Pancakes is not just about the food; it's about the heartwarming experience that Jo and the entire team provide. Highly recommended for a comforting and delicious breakfast or brunch!
Pros; The best choice of delicious pancakes and yes even gluten free! They have fresh thick bacon n eggs, delicious! Friendly waitress. Must go to if your in Portland.
Cons; 1 hr. wait but it was definitely worth it! It’s very crowded n noisy. Parking is bad.
A bit crowded, takes some time to get a table, but it is worth it. The portions are huge, the flavors are great, and the price is reasonable. I love a pancake restaurant that uses real maple syrup.

The OG Original Pancake House would be worth a visit if only for the history and tradition surrounding this venerable establishment.
Throw in the classic, delicious dishes; the wonderfully friendly, attentive service; and the kitschy, classic vibes, and you’re looking at an all-around great time.
I'm actually stunned. I have been so close to this place for most of my life and somehow never had the pleasure of stopping in for breakfast.
I had the Eggs Benedict, over-medium poached eggs, with the hollandaise drizzled on top of the Canadian bacon and English muffins.
I don't say this lightly, this was unbelievably well done breakfast. You can look at some of my other reviews and tell that I'm an honest critic.
I will return for another trip but this has been a fantastic experience. The icing on the cake is that my wife is more critical than me and she loved it.
Thank you for the great experience OPH. If you come for breakfast you likely won't be disappointed! Bravo!!
We had a group of five and the wait was about 30 minutes. So worth it! Excellent food and service for sure! We ordered five different entrees and every one was delicious! Go there, you will not be disappointed 👍

My favorite breakfast place! It’s been years since I’ve been but it didn’t disappoint at all from my memory. The fresh berries and cream are worth the $10. Portion sizes are massive so either split your meal or take it home for another yummy breakfast. No calorie counting for this meal! Fresh ingredients, fantastic service, and pancakes cooked to perfection. Plus they take credit cards now!
Amazing legendary pancake house with franchises as far as Japan. The Baby Dutch Oven pancakes were exceptional and what made the restaurant unique. No line on a Thursday morning.

Great Breakfast Place !!! Small dining area so be prepared to wait. Parking is plenty but can easily fill up, street parking available.
Generous portions + fluffy pancakes = buttery heaven.
With so many meal options our heads were spinning. The hostesses that greeted us, took our names and seated us, respectively, were super-friendly and welcoming.
I might not order the hash browns again as they were fresh but a little underdone
Loved my little fresh and very pulpy grapefruit juice. The omelette at our table was huge and tasty. Sunny-side up eggs were fine but a bit oily. Bacon was thick and hearty, but a little bit tough
We left wanting to have tried more of the menu, everyone around us seemed a little giddy as their dishes came out.
I was happy to be able to order maple syrup, even though the maple brown sugar syrup on the table was pretty tasty.
The old fashioned restaurant was very nice and well decorated. We didn’t have to wait very long to be seated, about 10 minutes of waiting. The bacon pancakes weren’t the best, but weren’t the worst. The orange juice was great! It was freshly squeezed orange juice and that’s always the best in my opinion. Oh my gosh, the pumpkin pancakes were absolutely delicious!!! It wasn’t slightly spicy like it says in the menu, you couldn’t taste the spices… but you could taste the pumpkin flavor. The pumpkin pancakes were more like a dessert though because it came with this sweet cream to put on top of the pancakes, that came in a separate bowl. Overall I think this place highly deserves 5 stars! Also you pay only in cash and also there’s no to go orders available, that’s the only downside.
Love this place! All the food is great, the people couldn't be nicer, and it is always worth the wait! Yummy!
Apple Pancake is awsome!! Like an apple pie! The food portion is really huge! We had to take several boxes home, pro food for the next 2 days.
Good service, great price for the amount of food.
The place is really small so be prepared to wait for a seat. There's a community table too so you could meet some fun new people. The food is delicious. There's both sweet and savory options. You can't go wrong. It's almost like you are eating with your large extended family in the old house.
Great experience here. Being from Dallas, the locations there do not have this original menu at all. Seeing this menu was exciting as it has everything I love from here. And seeing the original menu format was so nice. This location here in Portland is the best!
OG PORTLAND PANCAKES
I’ve loved this spot since I was a kid. There is always solid service and the food is consistently awesome. Now that it’s so expensive to go out to eat anywhere, their prices are actually similar to everywhere else (used to be ungodly high).
My kids grew up eating here a few times a year and have fond memories eating pigs in a blanket, berries & cream, and Dutch babies. Now my oldest works there and her younger sister is hoping to get hired when she is old enough as well.
Love my order on Dutch baby. It is delicious with lemon, butter and powder sugar. The restaurant has no wheel chair access and relatively small abd enclosed sitting. Friendly staff and very crowded.
A classic spot for breakfast. Especially if you love pancakes! We opted for the Dutch baby pancake and an eggs benedict. Eggs were a little overdone and didn't run, but everything else was great! A fun and tasty spot!
