I went on a splurge of a night with my son we had made reservations on the way but we arrived 30 minutes prior to that. The wonderful hostess was able to accommodate us and got a different table ready so we can be taken care of earlier. Not only was the food amazing but the staff was wonderfully kind I even did a whoopsie and dropped my glass of water and they came and cleaned it right up with a smile. Haven’t had such great food in a long time coming from the hospitality industry sometimes I come off as a harsh critique but kudos to the chef and back of the house working hard to make nights like tonight memorable for guests.
Great Spanish cuisine in downtown Portland, specializing in tapas, made to order paella and great drink menu.
Noticed the consistency of Paella is best in the larger pan serving.
We had a fabulous meal at Can Font. Every sauce was fantastic, from the patatas bravas to the romesco sauce on the veggies, the sauce for the albondigas, to the sherry and quince reduction on the brussel sprouts. Seriously - SAUCES!
It was a truly fantastic - the salads were a revelation as well. The kale and squash salad was a standout.
We didn't even make it to the entrees, we kept going back for more tapas. Our gluten free and vegetarian family members had great options.
Great service, bustling spot, fabulous food!
Went on a Wednesday night for dinner. Seem like they where short staff because it took a while for someone to come seat us, they weren't even busy. Also our server said he had to also be a bartender. Beside that, the service was good. We were excited to try the tapas! There was a lot on the menu, pictures would helped. We got the Cangrejo Y Setas and Pulpo Y Vieira A La Plancha for starters and they where both just ok. Also ordered PAELLA MAR & TIERRA for main course portion for 2 people, it was also ok. The flavor was simple and easy to eat, could use more seasoning especially the steak. Didn't like the cocktail Viva Ucrania & mocktail Limogranada. Got the TARTA DE QUESO (cheesecake) it was soft and not too sweet, very yummy. Overall it was a nice experience, a little over priced for "ok" flavors.
Hill steak bites were phenomenal. Paella was way too salty and more like risotto...
It was a nice vegan Spanish restaurant experience. Service was outstanding. Our patatas bravas were a bit salty and the vegan paella could have had some additional vegan meats for added variety other than just the sausage. But, overall, we enjoyed our meal and the whole experience. I would recommend it.
I like how they specialize in making Spanish dishes and provides multiple options of paella in the menu entree page, we had the classic seafood paella de mariscos and it's so savory and delicious, it was wonderful. I think the fillet mignon was also great but a bit overpriced, wine pairing with the steak was great. Definitely a good place for special days.
A great place in the Pearl area that offers some tasty food that also includes paella. We ordered a couple of the paella - Pollo & chorizo and the Mariscos (seafood) one. My friends enjoyed the seafood one while I enjoyed the chicken and sausage one. The canelones trufados, patatas bravas, and pan con tomate were also pretty good. Overall, a great meal with some great friends.
10/10 experience dinning at Can Font, the service and the food were amazing!!
Paella was one of the best I’ve ever had in the west coast! Pastata Bravas with steak bites is my favorite starter, the potatoes were crispy on the outside, and super soft inside, and the steak bites is a must to add on to the dish!!!! You will not regret!!
Will definitely come back to this restaurant again!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Delicious and gorgeously presented unique menu. Freshness and flavors are outstanding. You can’t go wrong. Service is top notch and while it’s a classy atmosphere, it’s not pretentious, so you can comfortably skip a jacket and tie. Great place for a date, celebrating a birthday, or anything else you’d like to stamp with an amazing experience. Amazing options of cocktails and mock tails. Try the Vin Grenada if you’re not a drinker.
The food was good. To start I had fried smelts, they were delicious, but pricey. We make them every Xmas, so I know the cost. He had the meatballs. They were good. Dinner I had Rabbit Paella. It was decent. He had the filet, he said it was ok, but tiny. I think for the price point they need to step up the game. Service was great! Our drinks were great! It was over $300 for 2 people, which is great of the food is outstanding, but...
Had a good experience here, good portions of food for the price though some items were a little under seasoned. Our server was ok, but it was a little bit busy at the time we went. I made reservations prior and was seated after 5 minutes, but our table was in a terrible spot. We were seated next to a big pillar in the center of the restaurant and felt very cramped- our street view was blocked completely :(
A chic and soothing ambience with an adequate vegetarian options in modern Spanish cuisine!
Their service was quick and responsive. The vegan paella was less flavourful than I am used to, but, the presentation of food and the quality of ingredients made for a joyous dinner experience. There was plenty of street parking available.
Impressed with taste and quality of food. It’s nice to have 5 people at the table. Everyone orders something different and you can try so many different things. Great for tapas tasting. We got 9-10 tapas and I loved every single one of them. My favorite were deep fried anchovies, grilled octopus, Brussels sprouts, steak bites, ceviche and calamari. Everything was at least one level above what you typically expect from that dish. Tender, flavorful, great presentation.
For main course - seafood paella, filet mignon and lamb chops were the best. Next time we go - I don’t know which one to choose from these 3 choices, they were all so good.
With so many restaurants cutting corners and offering mediocre food for premium prices this was a pleasant experience of flavorful good quality food. True 5 star experience. Thank you.
Spendy but delicious! I recommend getting a reservation, if you don’t they seat you in the seats by the door.
They were definitely short staffed but still nice.
My friend and I ordered 3 tapas and 2 mocktails, it was pretty pricey for a small amount of food but very good.
The ceviche was very good as were the steak bites. Melt in your mouth good. Will definitely come back to try the paella.
Excellent Paella! Great service and food!
Interior is a bit warm on a hot day but the food is quite good if you're looking for tapas/paella.
Tried the PULPO A LA PLANCHA which seared octopus. Very tender. Not a huge dish.
Paella dishes are good for sharing and trying a few varieties. PAELLA DE MARISCOS was my fav and filled with seafood. Also had the PAELLA C/ POLLO Y CHORIZO which had lots of pieces of chicken (maybe too much) mixed with chorizo sausage.
A beautifully little restaurant to enjoy a wide variety of tapas. Our group of 14 was taken care of. We ordered some of everything and it was all delicious. The service was great! Our server was great!
The kitchen itself is on point. It's not the biggest by any means, but it flows well. The chefs and staff were awesome, cranking out dish after dish. The kitchen is also open to the floor, which makes you feel close to the action. I enjoy that.
I noticed the manager making frequent trips out to the floor. Asking, inquiring, and making sure everyone in the place was satisfied.
I will say, our group in total was under dessed. But despite that, we were welcomed with a smile and without any second looks. No judgment there! Very friendly staff. The restaurant is modern, elegant, and cozy. It would be a great place for a date.
The service was great by our amazing waitress Rachel and so was the food. The paella (especially the squid ink one), the octopus and of course the patatas bravas was SO good. And the cocktails flowed with abandon this night. Easy street parking as well. We will be back.
