Breakfast sandwich of the week. 2/69: steak and egg. Soft bun bun. Fun toppings. The steak seemed to overpower the belle of the sandwich ball, that sweet sweet egg. New thing I discovered is that I love the fried egg variety of the breakfast sandwich when you don’t know when you are going to pop the yoke, which will henceforth be called the Jokic surprise because you never know when and how but it [he] will run the floor with you.

We have been to Portland about half a dozen times and I am so glad we finally found this wonderul establishment. Everything here was awesome. The food, the service, the guys working and running the joint, all of it. I researched best breakfast burritos in Portland and this spot showed up. I read a little bit of the description and knew this is where I was headed. The ham, egg, and cheese was melt in your mouth good, the beef and blue cheese was out loud "mmmm" good, and the burrito might have been one of the best things we ate this year with our stay in Portland. They do little things well, like fresh baked breads and what not. They had positive vibes all the way and I can't wait to return next year. I highly recommend to any locals and out of towners alike. This place was so freaking good!
Went on a whim for my birthday breakfast and Meat Cheese Bread just became my favorite breakfast spot in town. I asked the gentlemen taking my order what he recommended and he told me the Steak and Egg was the one.... he was right. So good, I had to visit again a day later... Can't wait to go back! Great vibe, good energy, incredible food.
Great sandwich shop! Went for lunch while visiting pdx, got the asparagus/sweet onion sandwich, and sweet potato/bacon sandwich, both were incredible! Squash soup and pasta salad - also amazing. Highly recommend.
Pulled pork is delicious! I’ll be coming back for more, YUM
Every ingredient in the sandwich hits. Will be my new hyper fixation lol
If sandwiches are your favorite food, which they should be, then you'll want to have every meal here. The breakfast "maple" hit the spot. I would even trust them to serve me a tuna sandwich and that's saying a lot.
The steak and egg sandwich was genuinely the best breakfast sandwich I've ever eaten. Would definitely recommend!
Great food. But be prepared to wait, they may say 15 mins when you call but it was 45 mins for me (a cold sandwich and a burrito). Also gave me a potato salad instead of pasta salad. This is a pretty typical experience here but maybe worth it sometimes?
Great sandwich spot! Everything I've tried has been exceptional. I really enjoy the green bean sandwich on a delightful ciabatta roll with bacon relish and soft boiled egg.
Another lil gold mine of yummy…the Maple was a real tasty surprise and the steak sandwich just a pure solid choice hands down.
Yesterday my wife and I visited and had "ham and Brie" and the squash sandwich. The former may have been the most interesting and incredibly delicious sandwich either of us have ever tried. Perfectly balanced incredibly interesting set of flavors and textures, sweet, savory, and crunchy. Perfect bread, perfect portion size. Hazelnut butter, arugula, apples, ham, brie...This place blows my mind nearly every time I go, either with one of their standard sandwiches, or with a special like yesterday. I find it amusing that the names of their sandwiches are so boring and mundane, especially compared to most hipster sandwich joints in Portland, but their sandwiches are head and shoulders above most all of those places
Delicious, fresh, great flavor pairings, and awesome staff. Definitely a place to stop and grab a bite. Flank Steak sandwich, Ham and Brie sandwich, and finally a Caprese sandwich. Salted caramel brownie, lemon bar, and a fig bar for dessert over the next couple of days. Cold brew coffee and watermelon kombucha to top off our “to go” order.

Agree with other reviews great for quick bite. Green bean, bacon and hard boiled egg is so so fantastic. Husband had the steak and blue cheese Mayo sandwich was also great and very very mild blur cheese flavor and even I could enjoy it (I don't like blue cheese). The bread is delicious and house made!
This is the place!
Whether you're a local or someone just visiting you have to try out Meat Cheese Bread. I cannot stress enough how amazing their sandwiches are.
Even if you don't consider yourself a sandwich person, you'll love the menu. Seriously.
