Delicious. The happy hour food specials are generous, to say the least. Impressive for the price. Great vibe and interior decor. Knowledgeable bartenders (Jared is awesome!) are good at chatting about anything while recommending quality booze.
The history of the building is neat as well, and we took the Shanghai tunnel tour that meets in the lobby. If you're a history buff or interested in Portland eclectic stuff, really neat.
Definitely the definition of Portland in my opinion as the food was great and the atmosphere is very welcoming in the middle of town. I enjoyed their creme bruleè and their shepherds pie at affordable prices. Definitely recommend if you're visiting
Love the bartenders here. They are so fun and hilarious. This place definitely has a lot of regulars and its just a nice quiet place. Weekend evenings are when it gets pretty loud with a DJ who comes in.
People think it's a gay bar just based on the majority of the patrons you see and the bartenders but it's just very gay friendly! Not that it matters either way.
I'm always pleasantly surprised by how good the food is here. I had their beef Wellington, which I hadn't had in years, and it was delicious. But the real treat here is the ambiance of the place. From the music from the piano to the warmth of the fireplace, there are few bars like this left. I am so glad we still have this one!
We did the Shanghai Underground tour and it was awesome. Very educational and interesting. It's amazing that Portland built their present city over the old one and tried to just bury it and pretend it never happened. We learned such amazing and rich history of the city in it's early days and how rough and scary of a place it really was. If you're ever in Portland I highly recommend you take the time to experience this tour. I do have pictures but I can not post them or use them without permission of the Shanghai Underground Tour people.
While waiting for the Shanghai Tunnel tour to begin,I found the staff, service, and food at Hobo's just wonderful. We got there in time for happy hour and we ordered sliders, pizza and a beef mushroom dish. the mushroom dish was so good my daughter didn't even share with the rest of us. All that for under 20.00. Loved the place. Will go back the next time I'm in Portland
This is a great little place. When I went there was someone playing live piano music and it was awesome.. I'm not sure how regular that is. The ambiance and the overall vibes in the bar were relaxing and great. I could definitely imagine getting kidnapped here and put on a ship to work.
First time at this location was during the Portland Pride Parade! Such a wonderful little location, Natalie was extremely helpful and friendly. Although it was a packed house we were cared for and attended to, I was also highly impressed my the deliciousness of the food. Can't wait to return at a future date to experience more on the menu. Thank you for being part of my first memorable Portland pride experience!
It's just the last standing gay restaurant left in Portland. A staple in the community. I have been coming here at least once a week and trust me, it's not for the service, which can be lacking at times. It's for the atmosphere, the people and Jim playing the piano. The food is really not bad. Not gourmet but not just bar food either. $5 burger Mondays. Daily specials. I just wish they came with a salad.

My husband and I went for dinner before going to see darcel's show for the first time. The service was friendly and fast, and our food was really good. I had the prime rib sandwich, which had a pretty big slice of prime rib. My husband had a burger and he said it was the best burger he's had in Portland. We like the space as well. Definitely recommend checking this place out. It's not a far walk from the Max light rail line either.
Generous servings of surprisingly delicious cuisine tonight. For 2 split the pear/apple/greens salad (huge), crab cakes and steak tips. Thought appetizers would be a small meal...nope, took most of the steak tips with us. Very tasty. Their red blend is a good wine choice too. Have enjoyed Hobos for over 35 years - glad to know it's still kicking!
We came for the Shanghai Tunnel tour and decided to have our dinner here since it was where we needed to be. We made a good choice. Dinner was great and our waiter was so fun to work with. He made the whole experience totally worthwhile. We didn't get his name as he was too busy but we are definitely going back again.
We ate dinner here. The staff was great, especially Chad. We loved the atmosphere, and the food was very good for the price. We had the nacho. Its the best nacho we have ever had. We live in McMinnville, but will definitely eat here again soon.
Good drinks with decent prices. Bar had kind of a locals only vibe when I went, but I went for ghost tours run by a different company. The back patio is amazing, so get your drink and head to the back to enjoy it.
Such an outstanding place! Old English style bar and restaurant. It's even a romantic place. Very gay friendly in the heart of Portland. Parallel parking for free after 7pm. But careful, towing each Fri and Sat night from 10pm on!
