Absolutely stunning medley of pasta dishes, I will be back again! I highly recommend the butternut squash ravioli, it was a wonderful mix of savory and sweet flavors. The beetroot salad could have been its own meal with the portion size and it too was delicious. My dinner partner shared their pasta dish and it was perfect blend of sausage, fennel, and creamy cheese. Let us not forget the DESSERTS 🤩 I would come back just to get the chocolate mousse, it was that good. Not overly sweet, rich dark chocolate and homemade whipped cream. The cannoli was a pop of flavor, crunch and cream to end the feast. Some of the menu items were different than online but I was pleasantly impressed with what was offered and will happily come try any new additions to the menu. Thank you for a wonderful evening of delectable treats!
We had not made a reservation, so we had a wait. The restaurant was humming with laughter, conversation, cocktails being made, corks popping, and you get the gist. We were seated on a bench and offered a drink for our wait. The wait was worth it as our dinners were delicious. We ate at the bar and had a pleasant experience.
Everything was wonderful. Had an 8PM reservation (they close at 9) so they were out of a few things that we wanted to order (a wine, spaghetti & meatballs & cannoli)
but we were pleased with our choices. Service was excellent. Highly recommend the espresso martini and bolognese!
I was excited to go to Gino's again. As I stood at the door waiting while the host took a call for several minutes 5 people arrived behind me. Host asked if I had a reservation and when I said I did not the host proceeded to help every person behind me, giving priority to each group that had a reservation and then helping a woman who was a squeaky wheel (also without a reservation) before me or the remaining person behind me. Strongly suggest customer service training. It was disrespectful.
I love the menu. Food tonight was a little unseseasoned for the shrimp app. The broth seemed as though it had not had a chance to develop its flavor. Meatballs were overcooked, too hard.
I'd like to come back when the service is more equitable and the food better executed.
My experience was amazing! I was recommended this restaurant downtown by a fellow business person in my hotel hot tub. The vibe was cool. The bartender / server Micah was amazing. He really steered me toward the right foods - mussel / clam mixture & the grandma Jean!! My cocktail and wine were just what I was hoping for too!
Very glad I came across this restaurant from word of mouth - and thankful that Micah went above and beyond to give me recommendations of things to do in town!
Everything was excellent! Would have preferred a fresh pasta with Grandma's ragu....but still a very good dish. Will definitely go back.
Thank you Esme for such wonderful service! Food was yummy as always, decor as lovely as ever, but the service is always what elevates the experience. We'll be back!
Jade was our server she was amazing kind and patient and she served us the best food ! We went with the family so we sat outside. There was a musician playing he was a great touch. We had the breaded chicken, mixed shells pasta, and the salmon. Everything was delicious! A great place to take the family to dinner. They are very busy but they still are able to be kind.
The host on Sunday night was far beyond amazing! We were made to feel so welcomed. There was a bit of a wait, only because of how good the food and service are, diner could easily lose track of time! It has a really cozy vibe, but the bathrooms were very unusually decorated.
While the food is delicious, our server (Peter) makes every meal memorable at Gino's!
Peter has been my server on multiple occasions and is attentive, knows the menu and is very personable.
I would go back for the service alone!
When in Newport, One of many places to visit would be Gino's. Excited to try to place before heading home. We ordered the Oysters and the calamari and they told us they were sold out ;-( that was not very good. Ending up having the Popcorn chicken, Manila Clams, Home made Crab Cakes and Clam chowder. Service was good but a bit slow for not being super busy. I would visit again and see if we can get the oysters and the calamari ;-)
The food here is always amazing and the staff has always made us feel special and we are well taken care of. Tonight we had Maia as a server, we have had her several times, and she was fabulous as always. The clams, grandma jeans pasta, ravioli, and the filet never disappoint.
Hands-down the best Italian restaurant in Portland. The cioppino, served over spaghetti, is the stuff of dreams. The lovely building itself has a long history- ask them about the history of their gorgeous antique wooden bar while you’re there.
Service was awesome start to finish. The food was super tasty. Drinks were a little left field for my taste, but some people like those complex flavor combos. Worth it.
Our meals & experience exceeded our expectations. Unique, homemade, and delcious food! Portions large enough for leftovers. Olive oil cake was delicious!
Charming, authentic, old Portland restaurant that is warm and inviting. Food, service, and wine were quite good at a reasonable price. The squash ravioli was lovely but the ceasar was all chopped up and felt like a chain salad. The drink menu looked super, but I picked a great Nebbiolo, offered by the glass for $12! GINO'S is an excellent choice but get reservations! It was packed on a Wed.
We had lunch at your restaurant today and I have to say that it was excellent. We both brought some home and switched meals. Wow. We'll be back again. Bill
This place hasn’t changed in decades - and I hope it never does! Authentic Italian dishes in an old school setting with perfect, no nonsense service. All of the pasta dishes are fantastic, and do not miss the Caesar salad, which is piquant perfection.
Excellent menu. Rosemary cream sauce on the ravioli was delicious. Staff was fantastic friendly and attentive. 5 stars all day long.
