Best Philly cheesesteak sandwich I've ever had!!! Friendly service and quick too! One of my favorite places to go!!! YUM!!! I highly recommend Grant's!!
One damn good chicken Philly cheesesteak sandwich!!! Please open a location in California !!!
Best Philly cheesesteaks on the East Coast! And excellent customer service! Grant and Diane are great people! I've been coming here for over 10 years!
Probably the best thing I've ever had in my mouth
Had a half original and chips...I wish I ordered the full...friendly service, no frills decor, delicious...enough said????
Service was Great! Food was Excellent! Can't wait to go back.
This place is a must do on your bucket list for places to check out and eat at!
Pennsylvania transplant approves!. Since moving here in 2000 I had been on the search for a good cheese steak hoagie. Alas my search is a success. I love this place. The hoagies are tender chopped beef, grilled onions, and peppers all smothered in a cheesy goodness. A side note they also sell Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets! A little piece of PA in Portland.
Great find!. Small place, but big on providing a great sandwich and service. Hey, they even makes their own chips. Will be back for more.
Perfect everything. Once in a while a great thing jumps out at you. This is one of those things.
Every ingredient seems a little bit better than normal. The bread, the meat, the peppers, the onions. Each piece of the meal is above average, and the sum of that is perfection. The perfect use of provolone or if you like, other cheeses, is outstanding.
They even have tastykake.
Folks working there are the cherry on the perfect sundae. They are great people.
I've been eating here for 6+years now and have introduced 7 first timers to Grants. Every person loved it! Great staff, great cheese steak. Whole original Everytime period.
1+1+1=1=10!. There is a certain alchemy that takes place with several variations of the Italian American Sandwiches... Take the Philly Cheese Steak: A not so good roll/bun mixed with some not so good cheese (provolone for original, whiz and Cream cheese available) and steak... add some crappy canned peppers and you have a magical creation that would make an Italian Harry Potter proud. Very few places get it right and for 6 buck for a meal, for any reasonable human, $10.50 for a logger/Walmart shopper, it is a bargain as well... Yes you can get a cheaper sandwich at Subway but this is not only edible but worth making an effort to get to (despite the early closing time).
"Mike's" for a Chicago Beef, "Escape from New York" for a Slice and "Grants Philly Cheesesteak" for a Cheese Steak... An Oregon taste of the East Coast.
I've had alot of cheesesteaks in alot of places, even places I found on this website that had all kinds of hype. Well this place is the real deal, hands down my favorite cheesesteak. If you come at lunch time be prepared to wait it's small and no secret but well worth the wait. I wish they would open an army of food carts serving grants cheesesteaks all over town so I could get one anywhere.
I've ate at most Philly cheesesteak places in town and none come anywhere close to as good as Grants. Original Portland with mayo and lettuce is my favorite. Home cut potato chips are tasty and a great partner to the fantastic sando.
The cheesesteaks here are fantastic! I highly recommend getting yours with the cheese whiz: you'll never go back to provelone again. Bread is very fresh and soft as should be. The place is a true & pop shop: mom takes the orders and pop them cooks them up. The only negative I can think of is their limited hours (only open til 7 weekdays), since I consider cheesesteaks the perfect hangover food. All in all, it's very much worth the trip.
Oh, man! This is the real thing! They got the roll right, the steak right, the whiz, and they still made it their own. Highly recommended.
This place has been around forever, and we don't know how lucky we are. The staff there are unfailingly nice and accommodating, and the cheesesteaks really are amazing. The meat is never dry, the bread is always fresh and soft, and the extras like peppers and onions are never overloaded. The meat is definitely the star of the show. They cook them to order, so plan accordingly and call it in ahead of time. Such a great midweek dinner treat.
Stopped by Grant's for the first time after driving past it a bunch of times on the way to Costco. We both got the American Philly which were amazing! Great flavor with lots of gooey melted American cheese! We also got cheese fries and rosemary garlic fries. We ordered a small of each and the employee who helped us laughed and said we would be swimming in fries. She was not wrong lol. The small fry is huge and easily shareable with two people! Definitely will be back again to try the other cheesesteak options!
This place has me coming back and wanting more! Got me something off the menu. El Jefe. So much flava and that sweet sexy spicyness that I love. By far the best Philly cheese steak I've ever had. The dogs are right up there too. Must try!!! 😁🙏🏽✊🏽✌🏽
Oh my gosh I found East Coast style Philly cheese steak house. Best Deli restaurant ever in Portland. So good and juicy. We ordered Grant Original and Philly Philly. Fries are amazing good and crunchy. Bun is so soft and yummy. Steak is so great and melt and watery in my mouth. Small restaurant but very cute and cashier lady is so sweet and kind. Chef is kind and good cook man dang! I’m highly recommend this restaurant. They made I imagined myself when I stay in My hometown Washington DC deli. I love East Coast style deli food.! So so so good I will be there again. we’re happy to be there. Thank you. So Yummy.!!
Best cheesesteak I’ve been able to find so far in Portland after striking out at many other places. Grant’s gets Amoroso rolls and everything.
Came in here and just asked for something different. I honestly didn't even ask the guy what he picked for me and tbh it probably wouldn't have been something I would've ordered for myself. Either way, it was a lil more salty than I would've liked but overall for something that's out of my norm I couldn't help but to keep taking another bite. I would definitely try this spot again.
Food was okay. I've been to this place in the past and definitely had better experiences then. Food was mediocre and service was very sub-par. The lady behind the counter and another employee were arguing over some sort of money dispute and it was just a very hectic scene. The housemade potato chip, or French fries rather were cold. The steak on the sandwich didn't have much flavor or seasoning what so ever. The sweet, pickled peppers were probably the highlight of this entire order. Pricing was fair. Atmosphere was nothing great and a very small dining room.
Highly rated for cheese steaks so I had to check them out.
Was it good? Yes.
Was it great? Nah.
Can't say there was anything special about the place or the cheesesteak. I will go out of my way to find and try a new place before I'd insist on returning here.
ABSOLUTELY KILLER! 🤘🏽🖤 This is my new favorite Philly Cheese spot. Ashamed that I have lived in the area so long and have never tried this place. So glad I found you!
10 out of 10! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Picture I added was the Half Philly with Wiz. To die for!!!!! 🤤
I've tried several hot beef sandwich vendors in my area. And none compare to the legendary Grant's. I remember going in Saturday runs into Portland with my pops and we'd stop for lunch here.
While the park and stream has changed, the food has only gotten better with experience. Perfect for a afternoon lunch or order several sandwiches and their cheese steak fries for a get together.
If you are a transplant from the east Coast and craving some comfort food this is the place you'll be coming back to again and again.
Had the Portland Cheesesteak. Very good. Got the Lemonade they had by the register and that was really good too. The atmosphere was pleasant and the employees were attentive and professional. Overall a good experience. Highly recommend
Just a great place to get a tasty cheesesteak. Reminded me of the places i went to growing up in the East Coast, except Grant's was cleaner!
I had steak with whiz and it was excellent, perfect peppery steak and tasty salty/creamy whiz.
Very small, and only a few tables, but the original Philly cheesesteak sandwich is the best! The wife and I always buy a footlong and split it.
This is a great stop for the family to get somthung fun to eat. The flavors are amazing and tast fresh! I had the fajita Philly and it was perfect. I always get the larger one so I have lunch for the next day. With no wait time any time I've ever gone we keep this spot in our regular rotation for eat out locations.
Very friendly people and awesome food. Best burger I've ever had. Very juicy. Highly recommend.
