My family and I have been going to this place for over 17 years. The best salt and pepper squid, salad roll and wonton soup I've ever had.

I haven't ventured much outside the realm of the salt and pepper squid, but why bother cause it's amazing! I always get quick service and quick seating even at peak meal times.

Fairly Priced, Good Eats!!. What can I say when this restaurant's Calamari is popular among asians? Every time I eat here, 99% of the tables will have ordered the Calamari. Go ahead and try it for yourself.

I have tried their other dishes and all of them have been good so far.

Food is fairly priced but service can be friendlier (at times).

Tasty and large portions. The pepper salt squid was outstanding. Try the spicy BBQ spareribs. Very reasonable. Will go there again for sure.

One of the best Asian places in Portland. After driving around for a bit trying to find a Vietnamese/Chinese place that was open, I ended up stopping here. It looked to be a pretty popular place due to the number of people there at 10PM. I ordered take out, and was amazed by their spring rolls. The rice was also much better than most Chinese places, and was even better when paired with General Tso's Chicken. I definitely plan to eat here again next time I'm in the area.

I haven't had the Salt and Pepper Squid here in years because I didn't have a good experience last time but now I'm back. The food tasted great along with the Yang Zhou Fried Rice I got. My friend also got the Mushroom Chicken and Wonton Soup and he said they really hit the spot. I guess the only thing that sucks is the Squid is now $22 as opposed to $17 last time I had it, which was probably over 5 years ago. I suppose it's nice to come here every now and then.

Food is generally good. My family has come here over the years. Recently we got the beef chow fun, ray muon, and crispy chicken. Beef Chow fun was great and so was rau muon. The crispy chicken was disappointing though. It was overcooked and dry. Place was busy but the two servers were attentive and overall quality of service was good.

The staff was super kind and helpful. We were the only one at the resturaunt at the time and I hope they're doing well bc this is the kind of food I miss. House special fried noodles with crispy noodles ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - my favorite - crispy and perfect - wish there was more sauce Snow pea leaves ⭐⭐⭐✨ - it's a great vegetable Honey Garlic spare ribs⭐⭐⭐⭐ - juicy - small pieces and easier to manage Honey walnut shrimp⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - what you'd expect - it's really well done though - a little hard to chew after a while - isn't too sweet and love that about kt Salt and pepper squid⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - perfect with rice

This is so legendary that so many people are in love with their peppery and salt squid. I have been eating this for the past 23 years. Staring when I was a student and now a father of 2. Due to Covid-19’s impact, they have not opened for dine in and only take-outs. I talked to the owner and she said they might close down for good because they have been working here since 1987 ( almost like Top Gun ), and gotten older. It they do decide to close down, it will be most likely within a year or two. Each time we try this, there is one day closer to its closure. You gotta try when you are in town. They are Cantonese Vietnamese immigrants and no Chinatown across the US can make what the can make and be popular for more than 30 years and attract people from Seattle to come for their squid and other famous dishes. Try like I have and you will love it.

They're finally open for dine in and they're still as good as I can remember it! Their pepper salted squid and honey walnut shrimp are the most liked!

Apparently this place is a neighborhood institution that's been around long enough that locals (and folks nearby) have been dining here as kids. A colleague told me about family dinners at Thien Hong when growing up, so there's history and memory here. As a relative newcomer, I became aware of Thien Hong through its erstwhile neighbor, Yen Ha, with whom there had been this rivalry over who had the "best salt & pepper squid in town." Since then we've had the pandemic lockdown and all the chaos that followed, and Yen Ha closed up shop, leaving Thien Hong as the last restaurant standing and the default winner of the squid title, as there can be only one. Anyway, that colleague and I got takeout from Thien Hong a while back, which we enjoyed while lounging in my yard, but fried foods just don't travel well no matter how short that drive is from kitchen to lawn chair. Truly the way to appreciate and enjoy the salt & pepper squid is in situ, which is what I did a couple of Saturdays ago. My friend from the lawn lunch and I, along with a mutual pal, met up around 2PM, and enjoyed a leisurely (in so far as we were taking our time - the food and subsequent tea and rice refills were on the spot timely) meal. The service was friendly and attentive, and the three of us left very well fed.

The food was good as always. We had a price of hair in our rice when we lifted the lid...other than that, no issues. (You can see it in the rice). I recommend the meat and beans, perfectly seasoned and cooked just right.

Always a tradition to stop here when we're in Portland. We love the S&P squid. A must try if you're nearby. Only reason why I gave it a 4 out of 5 star is service is a little slow sometimes.
