I cannot wait to try everything on this menu. The food was stellar. We shared a bahn mi for an appetizer and I had the lemongrass tofu and my partner had the vegan pork belly. Everything was so flavorful and it's so cool that it's also all vegan. I am so excited to go back and try more dishes at this excellent restaurant.
Great first time. It’s a cozy environment with limited seating, but I was the only one dining in while others were doing pick up likely due to the cold and rainy weather.
The bathroom was clean and well stocked. The location is public transit friendly (Trimet 72 and the FX are one block away).
I had the steamed bun, a hot milkshake tea, a vegy soup, and the banh mi sandwich. All delicious.
Service is good. It’s set up so you have to order at the counter, but the food is brought out to you.
Looking forward to another visit soon.
Convenient location, fair price. Delicious food. Ample parking space. For group of 10 and more, suggest to make a reservation as the restaurant has limited seats.
Pa Thai and spicy noodle soup were too spicy even we specifically ordered mild.
Amazing vegetarian Vietnamese food. I've tried almost every dish and their Buddha bowl is the best thing I've had there.
It's crispy bean curd (similar to tofu) skin mixed with cold crispy greens and noodles. Once you start taking a bite, it's hard to stop.
Second fav dish there is their bun hue (spicy noodle soup). When you get the bowl, rip the basil into it and squeeze the lime to help it complete the flavor.
Great spot I have been wanting to try for some time. They are remodeling and their menu is limited right now, but I had the Papaya Salad and orange chicken and both were delicious. The texture of the "chicken" was tasty and loved the real orange zest. Also like that that they make their own protein. They know what they are doing. Generous portions are given, which means I took half the salad home for lunch tomorrow :-) Staff were friendly and the ingredients tasted fresh. Can't wait to come back and try other items.
Wow! I should be eating Vietnamese food more often! Especially at Van Hanh! I went here last week and had the tofu spring rolls and the Buddha Bowl and both were absolutely delicious! I loved all the fresh mint and cilantro in both of the dishes. The Buddha Bowl had deep fried bean curd as the main protein and it was amazing. I’ve never had bean curd before and I am now in love with it. Bought some to take home with me and will be reheating it in the air fryer at some point to go with some rice and veggies for a quick, easy meal. Van Hanh isn’t too close to me but definitely worth the trip and I hope to get back there soon!

Loved the papaya salad and greatly appreciated substitution of tofu for broccoli since I have a soy allergy. Also allergic to carrots so they kept those out. I had the mung bean crepe. It was fried with oil and would have much preferred a very light sauté to taste more of the beans and natural flavor. But all in all I recommend this place. I didn’t find any ingredient that is not vegan and asked them. The previous owner did not know the meaning of vegan. It is a very small vegan restaurant. Best to call ahead.
Got the curry noodles and I liked the curry a lot. The mock meat was okay. It tasted like mock meat. I think it could have used some of its own unique flavors, but that didn’t take away from the rest of the food. The almond cookies were very good as was the hot milk tea.
Best vegan Vietnamese food I’ve had. I ordered for pick up and it traveled well.
Got the Hue Spicy Noodle and a Steamed Bun. Great portion size for the price. You’d never know it was vegan. Everyone should try this place.
Parking seemed limited but I’m sure like everywhere else, there’s street parking. The inside was nice and it looked like there was ample seating.
Drove from Beaverton, and so worth it. We tried a few different things but the lemon grass chicken amazing. We got noodles, teriyaki chicken that were also very tasty. But the lemon grass ♥️♥️. Very causal dining, sweet ladies. Great food.
My wife and I popped in to check it out this week and loved it. Best Vietnamese food we've had outside of Da Nang. This is not Americanized Asian food and we REALLY appreciated that. Recommend the Lemongrass tofu and Banh Xeo. The Bun Boa was NEXT level! Couldn't believe how much flavor they got in there without pork. Would love to see Nuoc Cham or some chili oil on the table as we like our food a little spicier, but that's my only critque! Beautiful family run place and we can't wait to get back and try something else.
A hole in the wall place for sure. Don't let the gravel parking lot and exterior deter you from trying this place. I ordered the green papaya salad and the vegan chicken rice...both were great. Great bang for your buck, good portion sizes and both dishes were under $9 each.
Van Hanh's has reopened after they redecorated. They also have more staff working there and they updated their menu. I'm really glad to see more people working there, their service has been hit or miss depending on their staffing. I had their Hue's Spicy Noodle soup and it was amazing. The broth was dank and full of fresh herbs and flavor.
Food was amazing and so was the lady that was working today 9/5/2022 around noonish. It was quick and boy do I wish I gave money for a tip but I normally don't unless I'm eating in. Amazing place! Will definitely be back!
Fantastic! Worth the drive if you don’t live near the restaurant. I had such a great experience at a Vegan Vietnamese restaurant in Seattle I went on a hunt for our Portland version. Here it is. Our table ordered the #41, #36, and #57. Pictured. I was so impressed with the amount of work they put in. Something you can’t duplicate at home. They have it down. I thought it came out quicker than expected considering the above. It literally looked like duck breast and even had a sugar cane inside resembling a bone. Unreal. #36. The #41 is like crispy fried chicken. #57 had veggies and vegan meat that you could actually chew.
Here are some tips to remember. This restaurant supports the Buddhist temple. There are Vietnamese monks cooking your food. Authentic 100%! No religion pushed here. I am mentioning this because
1) They don’t speak English. They will greet you with warm smiles and are doing their best. Please be patient and understanding. If you have a lot of questions they probably can’t answer them although they wish to. They will try and find another monk or Vietnamese speaking patron to help you. The menu is based on a number system. It’s detailed in English so you know what you are getting. Stick to pointing out the numbers for clearer communication. Take a to go menu and when you call in just tell them numbers.
2) The website is wonky. I let them know. May be a language barrier to fixing it. You might have to go with Reviews if the website is down. Open 10am to 9pm everyday except Tuesday’s.
3) This is a place where you come for the food. Decor and inside is just as pictured. Very warm people!
4) This restaurant supports their temple which is supporting our community as a whole regardless of beliefs. It’s how this country was made. Please support this business.
