The food was good! If you order a burger, it's worth paying the additional $2 for a side of fries, because the fries come heaping. There's community salt, pepper, chalula, hot sause & Sriracha. A bit on the pricey side as far as burgers and fries goes BUT its only all vegan contender is equally priced and their flavors/selections/ambiance are quite different. This place has an interesting inclusive, solemn ambiance. The interior is dark color themed, the staff are friendly. Good for groups.

I'll start by saying that I usually Really like this place. I'm always telling people how everything here is so good and it's a must try when in Portland whether you are vegan, vegetarian or just like good food. Their vegan chili cheese fries are my favorite thing to call in and pick up after a long day or just when I'm craving them, but this time was really disappointing. when I called I was told it would be 40 minutes for my order. I didn't realize they were having an event but I was willing to wait. Unfortunately, it was not worth the wait. When I finally got my order, the food looked like it was literally thrown together. The portion was off from normal and the fries were cold and soggy even though I was already there waiting before they brought it out. Super bummed but unfortunately I didn't know until I got to my car and it wasn't worth walking back in and waiting for them to remake it that night.

I was looking for the best vegan burger that was made in house, not some store bought processed thing, and this was place came highly recommended. It did not disappoint. I had the Scorpion burger and it was delicious. The burger patty was savory and had a nice off the grill flavor. There were no frills and the presentation wasn't stellar so I wasn't sure what to expect but I have to say this was one of the best vegan burgers I've ever had. I was almost tempted to get a second one to go.

What a gem of a bar. If you want some greasy dive bar food, but vegan, this is the place to go! I had a buffalo chicken sandwich a Caesar salad and fries that were amazing and I am excited to go back and try everything on the menu

The food was really good overall. Enjoyed the BBQ wings, tater tots, mozz sticks, and the French dip sandwich. The only thing I would not order again was the macaroni and cheese. The staff seemed friendly but preoccupied the whole time. We couldn’t get their attention to wipe down the table, for example. Look forward to visiting again.

Food was good- all vegan menu. Impressed with the flavors! Atmosphere was interesting - kind of felt like a mix of Halloween and hippie vibes. Probably should have worn more black. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for vegan options.

Monday night around 11. Just got out of a concert & was looking for a place to grab a beer. Nice modelo special here. Looked like a good tap list overall. Didn't try any vegan fare, but menu looked interesting & reasonably priced. Location right on east Broadway is easily accessible. Theme is dark, metal, punk... plus it's a live music venue. Great customer service.

100% Vegan. Small sitting area inside and the cocktails were okay 😕. It was my first time having seitan (vegan meat made from hydrated gluten) and I was really impressed how they created their version of wingz. I was a fan of the nachos too, and the Caesar was blah.

I came through on a Thursday at 3PM with coworkers after a team building activity. I actually suggested this place because of such a fantastic experience I had previously, and one of my coworkers had mentioned vegan food (making me think she was vegan...but she wasn't). I was really hoping to get an early dinner here, but it turned out the crowd was targeting more snacks and drinks. I ended up not drinking because I knew I'd be parking on the freeway very shortly afterward, but everyone else had a little libation. The folks that had flown in were impressed with the local brew they ordered (I didn't catch what they had), and another coworker had ordered a mimosa that was served in a pint glass! For food, we ordered all the bar staples: wings (both bbq and buffalo), a big basket of fries, a big thing of tots, and nachos. One of my coworkers hadn't had vegan food before (or maybe he had but just never wings before). When he dove in, he couldn't believe that it wasn't really chicken! I'm not sure what the "bone" for the wing is made from at this restaurant, but another coworker said it was some kind of sugar cane. I couldn't tell what it was myself, but it didn't seem like sugar cane. The thing that really stood out to me was the nachos. I'm not vegan, but have issues with dairy, and it took me a bit to realize that I could have these. They are unbelievable! So good, and really you can't tell at all that you're missing anything from a non-vegan dish. They're piled high with "cheese", "meat" and they also have jalapeños on them. The overall vibe of this place is typical Portland dark bar - the bathrooms are fully graffitied, and there's a music venue to one side.

Pierogies Mac and Cheese Had these two today and they were beyond delicious. I am not a vegan and was VERY impressed. Bartender was cool and even found me shirts to buy. Support Underground Music, Support your local scene. Swing by blackwater, it's so awesome.

The tall guy with a pony tail was kinda rude to me. I asked for another drink and the way he told me it would be waiting for me on the counter was rude. But any other time I went when he wasn't there everyone was extremely friendly and nice. I even bought 2 shirts. Anyways I have a sensitive stomach and everything there is Vegan and doesn't hurt my stomach to eat. I love the dark atmosphere and music.

If you’re looking for really yummy vegan bar food or appetizers with a beer, look no further! The nachos were A+ and the buffalo wings are seriously the closest thing to ‘real’ wings as far as consistency and texture that I’ve had since going vegan.

Our first time here for vegan delights and it did not disappoint. Friendly staff, decadent food and a cool vibe. Don’t miss the Magic Box vending machine! 🤷🏼‍♀️

My husband and I were staying in town for an event and we found this little place during a "vegan restaurants" internet search. The atmosphere was very laid back with great music, and was lit by some black lights, along with other lighting scattered in. It's great because you grab the menus from the front counter, find a spot to sit, then walk up and order after you've taken your time to look. Nobody rushes you to order. The food came out in a timely manner and was DELICIOUS! I had the French Dip and the hubby had the Western Burger ordered with the gluten free patty and bun. Both of which he said we're great! Both meals were full of flavor, and the fries were not all oily. They were light and crispy, but not too crispy. Just right. We will definitely come back next time we are in Portland!

I visited this place 2 years ago when I visited Portland for the first time. (I forgot to post a review) let me just tell you, this was the best vegan food I’ve ever had!! I normally don’t like bar food because it’s usually greasy, but this place was so good! My partner got chili cheese fries and I got a grilled cheese. The sauce that came with the grilled cheese was really good too! Whenever I visit Portland I plan on coming here again. You got a lot of food for the price you paid! 10/10 would recommend

Great dive bar with live music. We went in April on a Friday night to support a live band fund raiser. We shared a burger with jalapeños and it was awesome. The staff was attentive and fast compared to how busy it was. Children were allowed on the night we were there. Not sure if that’s their normal. I will need to do another visit to consider a 5 star. Worth the visit and great Portland location.

I eat here every time I'm in Portland, which is about every 1.5-2 months. In case some folks weren't aware, this is 100% VEGAN. I have tried several burgers (I love the seitan bacon and crispy onions on the western burger), the potato pierogies, fries (of course!) , and the broccoli and seitan salad. All of these choices have been delicious. The fries are crispy and fresh with their phenomenal fry sauce. The burgers were full of flavor and had a variety of textures that made them even better. By far one of my favorite places to grab some good vegan bar food!
