Great Entertainment for the family and FUN!. So me and my husband went to this place today and had a fun time. This place is great to entertain but the place kinda needs a little bit of remodeling or either they need to relocate to a nicer more modern looking place but they fun and different excitement is still worth it. On our table there was this cooking hole where you boil your broth while you add in your choice of meat and/or vegetables, etc. I had the meat broth with bunch of vegetables, meat, wontons. It was soo good and it was really fun to mix it all together. I love everything about the food and fun of it except I didn't like the spicy broth because it's actually is SPICY! But so far your going to need to put a lot of meat if you want more flavor to your broth in my opinion. Great place and I would come back again for another family fun time. The price is descent but wish they could make the place look nicer with a more modern touch or relocate. I would come back here again....plus i love their noodles. They make their own noodles and the quality of their food is excellent and FUN! Good customer service and friendly. Happy to have come here tonight with the family :)

Can't wait to go back. For a restaurant that basically has one dish (with many variations) on the menu this place is dynamite. Super fresh produce, incredible homemade pasta, delectable dumplings and tasty boiling broths (vegetable or meat, spicy or mild). Most surprising were the chrysanthemum greens. Yum! Our server was very helpful and gracious to us - the uninitiated. Plus they sold us some of the delicious homemade hot sauce used in the broth.

Delicious authentic flavor. I live in Beijing, and while on a romantic trip to Portland, I went to this place to please my hotpot-loving man who hadn't eaten that stuff since he left China... so I searched on the internet for a place to eat it while being there, and it was an excellent choice.
We not only had tons of delicious food (lamb, shrimp balls, beef, 3 kinds of mushrooms, cabbage, and noodles), but also enjoyed talking to the owner who offers an amazing service (very attentive without being intrusive). I particularly enjoyed the hand-made noodles (which were really yummy) cooked in the spicy broth and dipped in the seasoning sauce included. Do not miss the golden needle mushrooms!
All of the ingredients were very fresh, and I did have the feeling of eating in a restaurant across the street from my house... except Beijing Hotpot offers really good service which was the only thing reminding me I wasn't in China.

Healthy and fun!. Although the florescent lighting doesn't exactly enhance the charming traditional Chinese decor, the food is excellent and authentic! The owner is super friendly and helpful. This would be a great place to take a date because making the meal is as entertaining as eating it. Check out their website for a detailed menu and instructions on how to eat hotpot. www.thebeijinghotpot.com

This is as close to Chinese hot pot as you will find in Portland. It's amazing.

I have to admit loving places where the attraction is "something to do or look at" in addition to great food, and Beijing Hot Pot sure meets that criteria. Like most people who have spent time in China, I am usually super critical of "Americanized" Chinese food, but sitting at Beijing Hot Pot, trust me on this, you could just as easily be anywhere in China - it's that authentic. What is "hot pot" Think "Chinese fondue". But it's not cheese, it's a boiling cauldron of spicy (or not) broth at your table, and amply stacked plates of meats, vegetables, and / or seafood that one cooks in the broth. There are plenty of options no matter which way you lean on the 'vore' scale. We started with both steamed and fried dumplings, with traditional dumpling dipping sauces, including vinegar. The server brings the broth to your table, which has a gas-heated bowl, divided into two pots, and pours the broth into the pots. In a matter of minutes, the broth is a

The menu offered a variety of fresh ingredients, including thinly sliced meats, vegetables, and an array of dipping sauces. The hot pot broth was rich and flavorful, with options ranging from mild to spicy, catering to all taste preferences. I was really pleased with the selection, and the place left a lasting impression with its authentic flavors and inviting atmosphere, making it a must-visit for lovers of Chinese cuisine in Portland.

Don't be worried, this place is the real deal. The four of us newbies went in Hot Pot rookies. We all maybe had just a YouTube for reference. Our hostess gave us the lowdown as we were intimidated. The ceramic top in the middle of the table. The smell is probably gonna overwhelm you. The lingering smell of something you can't quite pin down, greatness. The spicy broth is so frickin perfect you will question things. Like why are my mouth and lips simultaneously spicy and hot at once but I can't stop? Why is everything tasty spicy? Why are there so many edible mushrooms that taste good spicy? Then after the flurry of questions in the peak heat of spice, clarity. It subsides. The spice wanes. You realize you have more to throw in the Hot Pot. No alcohol and I think that's a good idea. You're already burning your table mates with scalding broth as you battle over Bok Choy and thin strips of delicious pork and beef. Your spouse becomes your enemy, your broth spoon becomes your ally. There are no friends at the Hot Pot it quickly is realized; there are only obstacles in the path of Hot Pot enlightenment.

Beijing Hot Pot is fantastic. The broth was tasty, the portions were generous and my partner and I loved our meal. We did the Hot Pot for two and we couldn’t finish it all, there was so much food. Cannot wait to visit again.

Extremely delicious, huge portions. Their hot pot for two is enough to feed three, which makes it’s price a HUGE steal. 100% recommend, instantly a classic we’ll be returning to when we’re in the area.

Great food, great service, wait staff was very nice! This was our first time eating hot pot, we have seen pictures and always wanted to try it, and it did not disappoint! The waitress was very nice and patient in explaining how to prepare a bowl and recommended us to the perfect assortment of chicken, beef, pork, mushrooms, cabbage, 2 types of noodles, etc. We will become repeat customers. Thank you Beijing Hot Pot Restaurant for taking care of us!

Stayed in Portland for a week and this restaurant is a must-try. The new DIY cooked hot pot takeout is soooo good. Friendly staff and chill atmosphere.

I came here with my sister and nephew after the storm hit. A number of people still made it out to Beijing Hot Pot and the woman who was working alone was quite busy. I was impressed with her ability to keep up with the demand and provide decent service. We ordered the Beijing Dumplings and Combination for Two. The food portions were good and they catered to the fact my nephew cannot eat spicy food and only gluten free products. It was a great experience overall and will definitely return with friends.

The best hot pot in town! Keep in mind it's a small family business so there may be a short wait but the food and friendly service make up for it! Order guilt-free from a prefix menu for two or a la carte menu considering of nutrient dense meat, veggies, and noodles. Broths are refilled complimentary. We enjoy every meal here and always leave happy!

Amazing! I come to Portland just for the hot pot here and everytime I leave, I can't wait until I can come back and eat it again. We got fried tofu, noodles (the owner hand makes them!!!), cabbage, flank steak, vegetable dumplings, and bean curd sheets in spicy broth. There's also a non-spicy option if you don't like spicy and it's also super delicious!

My friends and I did some vegetarian dumplings, and the hot pot combos vegetarian and meat. It was delicious! I’m also gluten free and they were very knowledgeable about it, they had rice noodles! They have a divider in the broth so you can do one half gluten free and one not. It was very tasty, they were very nice.

Excellent quality food. You can tell the product is really fresh. Homemade vegetable and pork dumplings and handmade chicken meatballs. All of which are excellent. I think there regular noodles are made in restaurant also. Hard to find anything fresher or better tasting than that.

This place is run by a very hardworking woman! (I think it's just her at most times) Everytime I come the food always has such great quality and is consistent. If you aren't familiar with asian culture you might think her hospitality and the interior is off putting but that's just how authentic this restaurant is. I can't believe some of the other bad reviews on here, I have never had a bad encounter here and I am a returning customer. She is very friendly and has lots of returning customers that she is on first name bases with. I like to get the half spicy and half nourishing broth with all my favorite veggies and rib eye beef in my hot pot. That with a nice cup of hot tea, WOW just warms the soul. When you come here please please get the handmade noodles and dumplings, it'll change your life 😁

Bejing Hot Pot is probably our favorite restaurant. We come here more then any other restaurant in Portland. It's our happy place. Their combination broth tastes amazing and never fails to make us sigh with pleasure. Don't forget ro try the raw dumplings in the broth and their chicken meat balls. The place can be a bit crowded and the service might be slow, but they only have 1 or 2 people working. Be patient and they will make your wait a delicious experience! Take time to enjoy the simple life, drink your tea and enjoy the aromas! Love this place.
