If you've never tried Indian food or if you have and love it, then this place is for you!! The meals are amazing and they have an assortment of different foods to try, including Indian desserts! I am not a fan of green beans at all but they know how to season them really well and I loved them. When I was eating there, people walked in and expressed that they came in because of how good the restaurant smelled. Good-smelling and good-tasting food (along with amazing staff) can be found here at The Big Elephant!

Excellent addition to the neighborhood! Love the food here, and I love that the selection changes daily - there's so many options to try! I'm a big fan of the chicken curry and the okra/potato. Delicious roti as well, and the family that runs the place are delightful people. Try the barfi!

Very kind, welcoming staff (special shout out to Saleshni!) Delicious food!! Both the tandoori lamb and freshly made (NOT bottled) Mango Lassi are delicious! And the chutney beautifully complimented the dish.

Big Elephant is an absolute gem in SW Portland! We are vegetarian so always get the vegan dishes and are never disappointed. Excellent value for the amount of food. The sides and desserts are also delicious (get there early for cassava fries!!!). The French Quarter can get very busy on the weekend so wear your patient pants and be ready for an amazing meal. Oh and the staff are so friendly and kind! Highly recommend this food truck!!

This is an EXCELLENT food cart! I have never had Fijian/Indian Cuisine so I wanted to try a bit of everything. The Bahjiya Pokura are truly vegan chicken nuggets! They are crispy, salty and fresh (I saw the lovely cook hand rolling these in the back!). The lamb curry was very tasty and cooked perfectly. My picky daughter loved her chicken curry. The zucchini in coconut milk was a great contrast to the flavorful curry. Even the side salad which I tend to avoid was crisp, fresh and paired well with the meal!! It was an excellent meal, everything is made fresh so head over early as they run through their popular items quickly!

Update 3.23.22 I had the lamb curry, which was delicious. I had the chicken masala. Good portion. Good seasoning. Located in the french Quarter in multnomah village. The give you a buzzer to get your food when they finished preparing it.

Absolutely wonderful Indian food. I've been here a number of times and the quality has always been very good. I tend to get their meat and vegan combo plates which I can easily get two meals out of portion wise. Their roti, which is made to order, is also very good.

Amazing Indian food. I ordered two vegan entrées and was over the moon with how flavorful and filling everything was. I’m sharing the leftovers from my meal. Great deal. Great food. I’ll be coming back many times in the future!

I had a delicious Lamb Curry from Big Elephant food cart and a Buoy NW Red Ale. Eating Indian food at a French inspired food cart pod. Gotta love it!

Seriously fantastic food and they were so nice. Excellent value for money and it's great that you can easily get an order with multiple curries in one container so you can sample several things. Lots of vegan options. And not just plain rice, so eating any leftover rice alone without the curry is still really tasty. Oh, and you get a roti with your order, which was also really good. Love this place!

Ordering curry in English can be hit or miss, but this place was a big hit. The portions are more generous and more nutritionally balanced than the menu would suggest, and I crave the samosas so badly whenever I’m away from Portland. On top of this the food truck is adorable and the service is so kind and friendly. Easily a five stars if I’ve ever seen one

Vibrantly flavorful rotating curries, highly recommended with a side of tasty fried bhajiya/pakora. Every time I stop by they have something new I've never thought of for a curry and it's always delicious! Whether papaya curry, green bean tomato, jackfruit, collard greens, or their meat standards, I've been pleasantly surprised by everything. My favorite way to order is the 1 meat + 2 veggie curry plate (which always includes chana masala) and then asking for their favorite combination of the day's options. Throw in a side of those bhajiya, with a little spicy chutney, and you will be set for a fantastic, diverse meal, with plenty of leftovers (if you can pull yourself away from the plate, that is).

Handmade roti for an Indian person is not only nourishment for the body but the soul. I was feeling homesick for homemade Indian food and I saw that this food truck made hand made rotis. I ordered Roti, channa masala and the lamb curry. After the meal was over I had the biggest smile on my face because not only was the food good but it tasted like home. I have never eaten anywhere that tasted like home cooked Indian food. Also, very very generously priced. Ordered five rotis to go and will be coming back frequently.
