Reviews Grand Central Bakery

I love this area of town! Grand Central on N Fremont Street is a popular and typically busy location. The space has both indoor and outdoor seating. Finding parking can at times be a pain. You may have to find a space on a residential side street. The staff are friendly, but as there are most often people in line, ordering can feel a bit rushed. The indoor space can feel tight and crowded when the queue is long. In nicer weather, the outdoor seating area feels more open and less cramped. The coffee menu is small and quite basic. Food options are plentiful. Freshly made bread, coffee cakes, pastries, scones, quiche, and sandwiches are available. Soup, seasonal salads, and meal specials are also on offer. One of my personal favorite food items is the Pecan Pull Apart pastry! There is a public restroom at this location.

I’ve always loved the bread. I’ve had a years long love affair with the pecan rolls…I wasn’t prepared for the BLT. Perfect in every way, bread toasted but not enough to destroy the roof of your mouth, thick slightly sweet bacon, huge slabs of summer tomatoes, fresh green leaf and (extra) best foods. Nothing fancy, everything where it should be. Thank you for making my day!

A really great cafe. Lots of inside and outside seating available, and very spacious. The coffee was fantastic and they had a sugar free option. The coffee was high quality and made with skill. The croissant sandwich was very good as well. Good quality food and coffee and a great place to enjoy it indoor or outdoor, so it's a win for me. I recommend them.

Hadn't been to Grand Central in a while, and thought I'd go for lunch. I really should stop in more often! I got the turkey and chutney sandwich with a bowl of the Thai Curry soup. It was all awesome! The bread is so fresh and flavorful, and the soup was really tasty. Everything I've ever had from Grand Central has always been good... why don't I remember to stop in more?!?!

Don’t come here in a rush: this place was nearly packed at 2p on a weekday.. but because it’s so lovely you’ll want to return! Had a delicious cup of soup with fresh bread and a lay of butter. Perfect after a long walk this morning! Seating for small parties or solo at the window bar seats. So happy I saw the +++++ reviews for this place. $5 for meal, with added tip

One of the finest bakeries in earth. Grand Central’s croissants and bread fill a good portion of our household calories. The cafe is cozy and warm, and consistently busy during the brunch and lunch hour. The staff are a happy accommodating bunch. Highly recommend!

The best sourdough bread in Portland. I get a loaf of sourdough every time I go to a new bakery, and I've never had better. Great crust, tremendous crumb - it's a bread with a point of view. GC has a strong sandwich game, too.

Great place for a breakfast sandwich, pastries or bread. Love the bacon egg bolo or croissant. Jammers are great, and soda bread (now seasonal) is one of my favorite items for breakfast.

I first visited this bakery on my birthday. I added that fact into my notes when I placed my online order for an assorted half dozen. When I picked up, there was a nice note with birthday wishes written inside the lid, and I was sent off with extras. Everything was delicious and I loved not having to pick, because how can you? Everything looks amazing. And it is. Between the two of us, we devoured everything by the day’s end. It made our day trip to Seattle and back perfection. That was less than a month ago, and I think we have been back 6 times, trying everything. The sandwiches and breakfasts are wonderful too. I told my boyfriend that I finally understand how people let themselves get fat. The pecan pull aparts alone may have me needing larger pants soon, and I will have no regrets. I also find every interaction with the staff to be wonderful. You can tell they are treated well because their ebullient energy is infectious.

Grand Central is a classic neighborhood bakery with smiles galore! We've been coming here for years and always feel grateful to have such a welcoming establishment. The cookies are a treat but our favorite is the Kalamata Olive Loaf! So come give this team a visit, play some cards, have a tuna melt, and just sit and watch the cars go by.

One of my all time favorite spots to grab coffee and breakfast, so I figured it was time for a review! Originally I always went to the one on Hawthorne across from JAM. Once I heard this one was here I started going here as it’s closest. I always get the chai tea latte with oat milk and a shot of espresso! You MUST get the quiche here, it’s literally the best I’ve ever tasted! I also buy their bread which can be found in local grocery stores, the Como is my fav! The staff are so friendly and company overall is just great, love what they do! Cheers!
