Julie was our server and was the absolute best. Our drinks were top notch! I recommend the Salty Dog and jello shots! We had a blast making Christmas sweater 🎄 👕 cookies and laughing with Julie all night! Will be back ASAP and asking for her! Thanks Julie ❤️
Been going to this joint for years. In the last 2 years or so, it seems as though the “bridge and tunnel” crowd discovered it. If you love a good dive-bar with chill vibes, go to the The Slammer on week nights, but if you dislike bros, puking sorority girls and loud crappy, trap music, I’d avoid this joint on Friday and Saturday nights. Very affordable drinks.
The staff was very friendly, and all around seemed to be a decent area to spend an evening. The crowd was a bit of a mix, but overall not bad. The drinks were reasonable for Portland, and they had a reasonable selection. Honestly I'm going to give it a 4 star for the simple fact that they played the cursed song TGIF, and it wasn't even a Friday, it was a Thursday night. Not that being Friday would justify playing such a horrid song. But with my own personal hatred of that song to the side, it is a good bar for a night out.
Layout/atmosphere
*Christmas lights hanging outside and inside; two counter areas with big windows to view intersection of Stark & 8th; seven stools at bar; four taps; Playboy magazine in the vending machine; three TVs; Internet jukebox; pinball machine; complimentary water cooler; tables in back; picnic tables on sidewalk; covered outdoor structure in street
Food/drink
*Georgetown Brewing Co Johnny Utah Pale Ale [draft] - slightly above average
*No food menu (bar snacks)
Small but amazing! We crashed their gates after a company booze cruise and the one bar tender was able to quickly serve over 40 people for several rounds. My mind was blown when I saw there wasn't even a line for my second drink.
Local Central Eastside tavern "World Renowned" for it's Christmas Light and Nutcracker displays. Brews, Tavern Eats, Pinball, Skeet ball and, a neighborhood local clientele among the in the know hipsters. Outdoor Patio, Indoor Fun.
Wes is the man. I do miss Nick though
christmas decorations are very nice they have ornaments on the ceiling :). i liked the neighborhood atmosphere. it’s more of a local beer pub!!! will come back. Was like ~$34 for 2 beers and 2 mixed drinks
Jill the bartender is amazing. The atmosphere is quaint and it's the perfect place to stop for happy hour after working all day. The water bottles on ice for bicycles and pedestrians in a huge bucket out front was over the top and just... Just... It's just stupendous!!!
This place has a neat location, and when I saw it the entire interior and exterior were lit up with Christmas lights. It was awesome. The bar area is really cramped but there are a couple nooks to chill at, and a few games (pinball, skeeball, more). One bartender took my order and then never brought it (bearded fellow) but the second guy (glasses, dark hair) got me a drink quickly and well made. He was the man! Glad he was there to save the night
Lizzy your the best. Happy retirement
The bartender was friendly and very nice the place was clean there was in and outdoor seating. There's a station to get water. There are few pinball machines and other games. And the drinks for well mixed
Covid safe feels. the outside seating is nice and spacious but still gives you that quaint small bar feel. The bartenders are always spot on rad and just to top it off its just well decorated.
I went last night for the first time. Super cool little neighborhood bar. The bartenders are really personable, like you've been old friends forever. There's an old ski ball machine, and Ms Pacman. Other games in the back, and a cigarette machine.
First time here. Neighborhood tavern with all year Xmas lights. Feels like home in here with lots of regulars.
Absolutely Excellent Portland Dive Bar. Tamera was a kickass bartender working by herself with a full bar. Thanks for the great night!
You can get more than alchohol here that's for sure. Would give 1 star, but a couple bartenders are so great....lots of gossiping s#&tfaced regulars. Loud and always somewhat packed. Great people watching. Punk and the like on jukebox. Lots of sports on t.v.s. One of those places where in the back of your mind a voice says " how does the health Dept or metro allow this place to stay open"...which nowadays, is pretty awesome.
Went for the very 1st time today. Spoke with Helen, bartender, and she gave me a lot of insight. I can't wait to come back on a Fri or Sat night.
