This place was fantastic! The staff and owner were all so friendly, and the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
I've lived in places where there's actual Mexican food. Sadly, in an otherwise amazing food city, Portland has been seriously lacking in good Mexican food. Not anymore. El Corazon was the best Mexican food in Portland even when they were facing the limitations of being a food truck. Now with a brick and mortar location and the larger menu that comes with that, they are absolutely crushing it. Don't miss out.
My husband and I had just moved to Portland in January and were dying to find just one good Mexican joint. We were so disappointed when we couldn't find one decent spot to crush our craving for flautas or elotes or even a taco! That is until we went to El Corazon one night on a whim. I am not joking when I say that this is probably the most delicious Mexican food in Maine. The owner sat and chatted with us for a half hour, telling us stories of his recipes and his drive to make everything authentic. El Corazón tiene mi corazón.
One of my favorite restaurants in Portland! When the owner can make me happy, a west coaster used to traditional mexican and oaxican, and the owner uses personal recipes from his mother.....You Know You Have A Winner. Superb! Try the Salsas and the Portland's Own is my fav dish besides the fajitas. Locally sourced seafood!
On our way to another place for brunch today, we saw the sign outside and decided to stop. I'm sure glad we did!! The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff was stellar - all the way up to the owners that even took time to chat with us. We were happy to be some of your first brunch customers! I had the Tamales and Huevos, while my brother had the Chorizo and Huevos...everything is made in house and absolutely amazing. The only downside is that we live out of state and can't stop in more often. I highly recommend this restaurant and cannot wait to return! Best of luck to you!
The best fish tacos you could hope for. Amazing flavor profiles and super fresh food. The Lola margarita is pretty delicious too!
The food and the love put in to making it is the real deal. The vibe is perfect too. Sonoran Hot Dog is a must! We loved talking (and sampling) some amazing tequila with Joe. We will be back! Can't wait to eat my way through the rest of the menu!
I have to say, I've been enjoying eating at this food truck for years and was so excited to find out they opened a restaurant. I went in for the first time last week and fell in love all over again! The food was exactly like what I've become accustom to! My server was pleasant, attentive and we had our food delivered within a short time. I can't say enough about this restaurant!! Thanks Joe for having the courage to expand your Food Truck vision - I will be back for more!!!
Was skeptical that Portland could have a decent Mexican restaurant. What a great surprise. This was the best Mexican food we've ever had anywhere.
Great place to have authentic Mexican food, good portions, lovely setting. We went for my husband's birthday had such an enjoyable meal. Great drinks, really good service. Can't wait to go back for more.
absolutely a wonderful, delicious, hospitable spot! This is quite the find. Thank you Joe and staff for a marvelous lunch!
my new favorite mexican food in Maine. As someone who travels and eats a lot, i go out of my way at least once a week to go into portland and get food here.
Best Mexican (NOT Tex-Mex) food in Portland! We had delicious fresh prepped food! Can’t wait to return!
A rare find in Portland, very good food (each of us had different dishes that were remarkably authentic) at a very reasonable price. Wait staff was quite friendly attentive without being the least bit overbearing. Will definitely return on my next trip back to Portland.
Great food! The best thing on the menu is called Portland's Own, ceviche with the biggest chunks of lobster meat I've ever seen.
Had the chili releno and chicken enchiladas. Both were delicious. The shiny margarita i had was also delish. Would have liked it to be bigger.
Go ahead and break mi corazon El Corazon!! 2 hours from home and a half mile from the hospital. You are literally the ONLY reason I would leave my wife and 3 week old daughter who's about to have emergency surgery!! I walk into the front doors of this little Mexican silver lining fully expecting for my worries to partially melt away like the cheese melting down my face after devouring your delicious food! Google says you close at nine. IT'S 8:35 AND YOUR FRONT DOORS ARE LITERALLY WIDE OPEN. EVERY LIGHT ON IN THE BUILDING!?! WALK IN TO RECIEVE A VERY UNAUTHENTIC "SORRY.... KITCHEN IS CLOSED"?!?! I still gave you five stars cuz I'm sure the food is even better then I'm imagining as I sit in my vehicle looking at your storefront in my rearview. Just figured I'd make a constructive suggestion? Maybe teach your chefs how to tell time? Or CHANGE THE INFO ON GOOGLE. That way nobody else has to embarrass themselves by walking back to their car on the verge of tears yelling obscenities. 😭🐃💩✌️
Amazing food and service. Great price for the portions. We can't ask more a better place.
Solid Mexican food with great drinks. Owner went out of her way for a great experience. You will enjoy it!
Delicious and authentic food. Great atmosphere and service. Best Tamales I've had since living in San Antonio TX. We really enjoyed our dinner in a relaxing setting. Portions are fulfilling and prices are reasonable. Great experience!
their food is so good i felt obligated to leave a review in case anyone is ever deciding if they want to eat here– and you’ll want to if you like authentic mexican food (especially the bad hombre burrito). the owners are so kind and deserve nothing but success and recognition!! thank you for blessing this city with such fantastic food!!
