The Press Room is a flipping GEM, and is the region's best *true* pub. This isn't one of those corporate Disney land theme park pubs where they fly in wood paneling from Ireland, or stick some token musicians in the corner in order to "check a box" on what a pub should have. The Press Room has had live music every night for forty years--and some outstanding music at that. Enjoy a pint, eat some tasty grub, and enjoy the atmosphere of a true NH cultural icon with real locals who know what's up and where to hang.
Great place to see live music. One of the few places in Portsmouth to see music on Sunday nights. Best part is, you can bring your sub-21 yr old kids in with you such as to experience the jazz bands upstairs etc. Cover charge is reasonable. The food is pretty amazing for a bar. Friendly staff. I would only recommend that they improve the lighting during music events ( a little too dim).
A hidden gem of Portsmouth. Great atmosphere, staff was incredible, and their selections of music was perfect.
Love this place! I don't get down there much except for the winter, but The Press Room is a must visit every time I go through Portsmouth. Great beers, perfect atmosphere, and really good food. The bartenders are incredible as well. Can't wait to go back! - Tim

I was at the jazz night/Sunday and what an incredible treat to hear Jerry Bergonzi, Hal Galper and Jeff Johnson. I didn't catch the drummer's name, but he was exceptional. Great burgers, by the way.
I've been here a few times with my friend on Jazz night. Always a good time. Live music, good food, great time tonight! Applause and whistles all around! �❣
The Press Room rules. Found this place within a month of moving to Portsmouth in 2003. Have been back ever since.
Press room is the best venue in Portsmouth to see or hear music. They take care of bands, do great sound, have a cool intimate vibe, awesome staff and quality beers....that pretty much checks every box for me. Have seen some awesome acts here and they continue to bring in unique and diverse talent, both local and international. Do yourself a favor
Absolutely love the Sunday night Jazz shows. I certainly hope the new owner retains these wonderful shows.
