I've eaten here about 3 times now. Every visit was amazing the flavours bursting on my taste buds. I highly recommend this place for any type of occasion the drinks are really amazing as well. I love this place and it is by far the best restaurant I've never eaten at and that's saying a lot because I don't do reviews and I'm a food junkie!
We stumbled on still worldly eclectic tapas while trying to escape the rain. What an incredible treat. Our party was 3 in number, so we sampled 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 3 desserts and shared. We liked everything about it. Our waiter was very sweet and attentive. I highly recommend this place.
First time here and I will definitely be back. Im kind of a foodie and can sometimes be over critical because i too can prepare scrumptious food. However this place gets all 10's from me. Every ingredient on the plate makes complete sense. I love the fact that there are no condiments on the tables. This tells me the chef is confident in his flavors and knows every dish will be perfect. He's absolutely right. For the first time in a long time my palate was awaken. I don't have a favorite dish so i suggest you try everything. Oh yeah not only is the food amazing but service is outstanding too. Alexandra did a terrific job!!!!!
Love this place!!! The food is outstanding, deserts are to die for and the cheesecakes are sinfully delicious. They have a top notch wine selection; a domestic and imported Whiskey selection that is second to none, which I am working my way through :-) The staff is professionally trained, knowledgeable and friendly which makes this my top choice for a night out. I always have great time and look forward to my next visit :-)
Dined tonight with my wife. Late birthday dinner. One of the best meals we’ve had. Delicious. It is eclectic. The drinks are first class. The food and desserts sublime. Highly recommend.

I have always had an excellent experience at Still. The entire staff is so friendly and accommodating. However, I had an extra AMAZING experience on May 5th and it has prompted me to make a review.
I had my rehearsal dinner in the bar and lounge area of Still and it was absolutely amazing. Kris helped organize and plan the buffet, he was an excellent help. Crystal was on the floor taking care of my guests and everyone loved her. She has such a sweet personality and we love having her as a waitress. I love that she remembers us after every visit and always remembers little details, which is amazing when you only know somebody on a business level. And Megan ran behind the bar. Megan is absolutely phenomenal. I have nothing but good things to say about her. We have been coming back for years requesting her as our waitress and she never disappoints. She is always smiling, has such a vast knowledge of both the food and bar menu, and is just such a pleasure to be around. Megan, Crystal, Kris all made our night extremely special and memorable.
Duck Tacos are to die for.....and if they decide to bring back the carrots (yes I said carrots) I highly recommend those with an order of bread.
For several years since opening, this has been a must stop in for custom cocktails and world class Tapas! The underground atmosphere is classy and authentic! Go!
Excellent food and drink menu with plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options. I'm not vegetarian but do have dietary restrictions and was pleased to find they could be easily accommodated.
The duck tacos are to die for! Can't wait to return.
We love The Still, had the ground turkey lettuce wraps, with house hoisin sauce, and it was amazing, the bread pudding is the best I have ever had, we go just for that. We also got the vanilla bean and cardimum creme brûlée. It’s always delicious and am amazing atmosphere. With great drinks
Great place for a good bite. Duck tacos is a must and the cheesecake
This place is the whole package. Great food, great drinks, and great service. AND SO CELIAC FRIENDLY. Will definitely be back.
The bread pudding is the best dessert in the world and Alex is by far the best bartender EVER!!! Perfect place to unwind in a intimate cozy atmosphere.

I ate at Still twice a few years ago and was not impressed with the food or the service. Went back yesterday with a friend to give it one more chance. It was excellent! Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. The food was yummy...especially the bread pudding. Would go back just for it.
I was so in love with the food that I didn't take a single picture and now I truly regret it! Husband and I went out to celebrate our 1year anniversary of marriage and had an absolutely gorgeous time. We expected to spend a ridiculous amount of money here because of the small portions. This was not the case. We started with the duck tacos, and they were actually quite filling, as were the rest of the dishes. I am a huge duck fan, but I do believe that anyone would love the duck tacos. They were perfectly filled with duck and some perfect toppings (a sauce I've never had before and something pickled, maybe kimchi? But tasted sweeter than kimchi... and crunchier than a pickled onion, anywho, it was amazing). We also had the bread. I actually bake bread at home, but their bread was pretty good. It's a small portion of bread and butter, but it's a dollar well spent. House made apricot jam butter, I was disappointed when I heard this, but pleasantly surprised by the savory and slightly spicy spread. My husband is really into shrimp and crawfish, me not so much. Again, I was pleasantly surprised by the Cajun pasta. Amazing flavor. Creamy and spicy. As someone who enjoys cooking and making homemade pasta, I'd like to know about the origins of the fettuccine in that dish, it was truly delicious pasta. We finished things off with the pistachio creme brûlée and chocolate stout cheesecake. Both were amazing. The creme brûlée had perfect hints of pistachio, but also a really nice vanilla flavor. Perfect torched sugar coating on top that passed the cracking sound test when hit with a spoon, a really nice amount of that crust too. So filling I had to pack half to go, I was not about to waste any of this angelic dessert. The cheesecake was also beautiful, a cheesecake that could stand being served in New York or Philadelphia and be praised by a gospel choir. Perfect chocolatey flavor. Gosh it was just so good. AND GUESS WHAT. Our bill, before tip, was $38. And we were both totally full. Shoutout to my sweetheart server Devin(or Devon, Devyn..?) who seemed to be running around a lot but was still very helpful with answering our questions. Eat here!
TIPS: Food comes out super fast so you can order like one thing at a time if you're like me and have eyes WAY bigger than your stomach.
GET THE BREAD.
DON'T BE AFRAID OF FLAVORS THAT SOUND WEIRD. They know what they are doing.
Absolutely loved it. This is our new favorite restaurant!
My Favorite. Big fan of the Smoked Salmon dip.
Highly recommend this place. Even my father-in-law, who is a real meat and potato's guy, was impressed. Food was excellent, service was good. Place was very busy, but the wait for food was not bad. Don't rush it, take your time and enjoy.
Great dinner.... Love the vibe here... it's a hidden gem in Olde Towne Ptown. Great ambiance, friendly greeting, and immediate seating per our reservation for two. It's tapas style and our server was perfect at letting us know that plates come out at varying times no matter how ordered, much appreciated. She was also very kind in letting us taste a couple of different wines before ordering a bottle. Something I hate to take advantage of but was much appreciated and a very nice touch. We ordered multiple plates with the true highlights being the shrimp saute appetizer and the dill salmon middle. They were truly outstanding dishes. The filet mignon middle was also delicious and cooked perfectly rare. We also ordered the brioche app and the bread with spicy pecan butter, both delicious. The scallop ceviche wasn't my favorite, simply because it was more a raw scallop rather than a ceviche in a citrus juice, but it was fresh and a beautiful dish in it's own right and honestly true to its menu description, just not what I was quite expecting when thinking of ceviche. All of the dishes were nicely portioned, especially for tapas in my opinion. Overall service started perfectly but got quite slow as our dinner progressed; the restaurant had obviously become very busy and the lag in service was somewhat understandable. Regardless, overall a gorgeous ambiance, fantastic food, and a great restaurant. I will definitely return.
Very delicious. The atmosphere is great too.
Best Restaurant in HR. This is truly a great restaurant. I'm a foodie from Portland, Oregon and have been searching for a place like this. Dark, cozy atmosphere, excellent food and drinks. Several items are gluten free-Duck tacos, Crab cake, Bourban Apple Bacon tart. Very classy, polite and knowledgeable staff. This is one of my favorites!
Cool Atmosphere, Great Food. My husband and I come here anytime we have any reason to celebrate. We love the experience of a tapas meal and for a date night it really allows us to not only take the time to enjoy each others' company, but also some really amazing dishes. We love the ambience, beer/wine selection, and of course, the food. Definitely the place to try if ever out in Olde Towne!
Damn good food. Need reservations.

Wonderful. Loved everything about this place. Really does have a speakeasy feel created private atmosphere. Great friendly, knowledgable staff. Food was amazing, I recommend the lobster mac-n-cheese and the crack-lings. It was a little pricey but really worth it.
Delicious! This place is.... Delicious!
This place is kind of hard to find but so nice on the inside. It looks warm and inviting. The bar looked like a lot of fun.
They had a great list of cocktails and martinis and an ok wine list.....they could have had more Riesling options but definitely a lot of red wines.
This place is also owned by Bardo and both are great. I think Bardo has more interesting and unique small plates but OMG Still's desserts were way better than Bardo. My boyfriend and I had creme brulee dishes at both and we were dying over Still's.......amazing!!
The small dishes were good. We both loved the tator tots and tempura broccoli. I LOVED the walnut covered BRIE w jam.......it was mouth watering. The duck tacos were better than the duck breast, but both were good dishes. We weren't crazy about the sweet potato biscuits. The vindaloo was also killer!!!
We really enjoyed this place and will definitely come back. I do hope they expand their menu because they have a lot of potential. Great service, beautiful on the inside and great food. I love Still and Bardo!!!!
The best restaurant in Portsmouth and it gives Fat Canary and Vintage Tavern a run for the money regionally.
Worth every penny for a special evening out.
A good place for some apps and drinks. We ate here about a week ago with our 8yr old daughter. Lets start with our server, Mackenzie, she was fantastic! When our daughter asked for a Shirley temple Mackenzie asked her if she wanted a plain old Shirley temple or a smurf blood drink LOL...that is what we got and our daughter loved having blue soda with blue cherries! She turned out to be a great server though the whole meal. The food was good...not great but good. The molten goat cheese was good but instead of room temp bread they need to serve it with warm bread. The tater tots were a huge hit and delish!! We also ordered the lollipops-they had a great flavor and great sauce but the texture was weird. Next came the fried artichoke hearts, they were really good but the portion was a joke, I think it was 2 hearts split into 1/4's...they were good but the portion is just not worth the money. We had to send back the mac and cheese due to the cheese separating but no big deal, it was also taken off our bill. My husband and daughter got the duck tacos and they polished them off quick. I had the pot pie (seafood) it had great flavor but the filling was LACKING in a huge way. There was so little seafood it was dissapointing and the puff pastry was not done right...it was thick and chewy instead of light and flakey. We ordered and gladly PAID for the house bread and butter which was crusty and fabulose and the sundried tomatoe butter was perfect, not over powering. Over all this was a nice meal but not great. I think it'd be a fun place to go for drinks and apps before moving onto another place for a full meal or a show.
Total Package- must try. Had dinner here with my husband. I will start by saying we love tapas (small plates) because it means we can try lots of different items and so we tried LOTS. Additionally we never lacked for anything. Nicoleta our waitress was phenominal. The phase "ask and you shall recieve" comes to mind when I think of the service.Spot on.
We started with Lollipop scallops and crabmeat, Crap dip and the soup of the night, Crab and corn. The soup was a good flavor and not what you would typically get when you order crab and corn soup. Typically you would get a cream based soup but this was more broth based. It was not our favorite but the flavor was good and it is noce to get something different then the ordinary. The lollipops and the crap dip were probably the least favorite things we ordered, even though both were still good. The lollipops had a terrific sauce. However I think they would have been better as a whole scallop encrusted in the crab instead more like a crab ball with the scallop ground up with the crab meat. The crab dip was good tasting but very ordinary compared to the other items we ordered.
The next order was the Dynamite Tuna and the deviled eggs with lobster. Both of these blew us away. Nicoleta suggested that when eating the Tuna we take a bit of the green salad and crab salad provided on the plate too. So we took a bit of tuna, crab and green salad all together. That was a perfect bit all together. The deviled eggs were somerthing other worldly. I have never seen or tasted another dish like this anywhere. It was a hard boiled egg just like you'd expect but it was not a little bit of filling like grandma would fix. The filling was piped into the egg center and sitting about 1 1/2" above the egg. It looked awesome. The filling was much different tasting with lobster in it. This is a must try item.
The next round we ordered the short rib grit cake and the shrimp and grits. The short rib grit cake tasted magnificent. The sauce which was infused with bacon was lick the plate good and the meat was melt in your mouth. I wasn't a fan of the grits but I don't really like grits. I didn't try the shrimp and grits but my husband said it was good. However not his favorite place for shrimp and grits.
The last round (only cause I could fit any more in) was the Key Lime bars and a order of donuts. We ate the key lime bar and decided right there that this was probably the top dessert we have ever had. It was just what a key lime should be not too tart but not to sweet. With the caramel, blueberry and fresh whipped cream it was just perfect. I wouldn't change a thing with this dish. Then the donuts came hot, crispy on the outside and a soft moist inside. I LOVE fresh donuts and these were the best I have ever had. They came with a rich chocolate sauce for dipping. I found myself wishing that they also had a vanilla sauce too. So I mentioned this to Nicoleta, she immediately went and retrived some for me. OMG. I will definately be back for some more of both of these desserts.
Overall, I ate way too much :) but it was fantastic. This place was a little difficult to find but once inside the atmosphere was great. I love the look. The drinks were killer, very strong but good. This is definately a place any foodie should try. They have got the total package, good food, beautiful presentation, welcoming atmosphere and fantastic service.
Great!. I had my way out in this are for Bier Garden but walked past this and decided to pop in. My friends and I glanced over the menu and we were set. Truffle mac and cheese? Goat cheese quesadillas? YES PLEASE. It was super great, and Karl knows how to run a place. The food was great - and the bread and butter was awesome. My only complaint would that be food doesn't come out at the same time, so it's a bit awkward when you are with a group and ordering something as 'your meal' rather than sharing everything.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Went for the second time this week, and everything was just as fantastic as the first time. The Salmon Wellington was worth writing home about, and the rest of the meal was very good. The atmosphere is both relaxed and classy, and both times our server has been an absolute joy. I'd definitely recommend Still to anyone who would listen.
My room mate and I randomly craved salads at about 10pm tonight. We found this place right outside the Naval Hospital; less then a mile. It was perfect! Their kitchen is open until 11pm so we were able to get our order in. The server as incredibly friendly and helpful and the decor was very warm and inviting. We felt that it was a very multi dimensional restaurant which you can attend for late night drinks with either a date or just friends. Perfect for dinner as well. The food was so good, I got the goat cheese and spinach salad and it was delicious. My room mate ordered the soup of the day, and the mushroom duck salad. The duck was perfect, not greesy at all. We were quite satisfied with the price as well. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want a classy yet simple meal for a good price.
Cheers. Still serves great cocktails made by knowledgeable bartenders. This place is awesome and dangerously close to TCC's Visual Art Center. I can't resist!
The Best in Hampton Roads. The Still is simply one of the best places to both eat and drink in all of Hampton Roads. It took me a while to find it, but once I found it, I was hooked. The menu is exciting and is constantly evolving. Each menu item I have ever ordered has been well prepared and was delivered fairly quickly. The bar tenders are amazing. It is really one of the better places to get a drink south of Washington.
The "No-Dining Room" was referring to: NO this is not a "Menu Item" I wanted to leave a pic of the dining room. Hope you enjoy. I did !
Amazing Dinner!!! I had great food- fun flavors all extremely well prepared! Great service!! Brittany at the bar was perfect! I will revisit often!
Still awesome!! This place has yet to fail me, and I'm certainly not sure why you would complain about their staff. They're some of the friendliest and most knowledgable wait staff I've been helped by. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is amazing, this is all-around a great little hole-in-the-basement establishment. I would drop most things that I'm doing if someone said, 'do you want to go to Still?'
Awesome atmosphere, service & food!. This place has the best variety on its menu and everything is done very well. Great for groups, great for smaller get togethers. Nice wine list.
Went above and beyond. I arrived for a large Party of 20 people with a cake I had to assemble. When I went to put the shoe on the top it fell apart and after spending so much on the cake I was pretty upset. Alby, who was so accommodating, had gotten a table so we could display it in the corner and recommended that his Chef see if he could fix it. Well, he did and I was extremely happy and impressed. I work in Customer Service and was so pleasantly surprised to see that they cared so much to help.
Great Food Amazing Service. I have been going to Still for the last couple of years and everything has always been fantastic. Most restaurants get worse or same the same over time but Still keeps getting better. The food is always delicious no matter what you order. Everything has an eccentric twist that makes simple dishes even more fabulous, such as the mac-n-cheese. The service is even better and the atmosphere is wonderful. Even on their craziest of nights I never feel like I am waiting for a waitress. I love how the restaurant is dark and lit with candles it makes for a romantic atmosphere. Everything about Still is awesome and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Portsmouth.
FANTASTIC!!. My absolute favorite place in the world to dine, drink and chill. I am in awe at the some of the not so good reviews. I have NEVER experienced any of the negative things that were spoken of. I am positive that if you were not pleased with anything and brought it to the attention of anyone that works there it would have been corrected. Don't be fooled by thinking you have to be dressed properly to enter, I go in jeans and tshirt. It is simply DIVINE! Love the bartenders!!
Delicious Food. I've been waiting to try out Still for quite some time now. The restaurant is beautiful on the inside. You enter the building from the side and come down several steps, or the ramp, and enter via the bar. What you see is a fully restored and comfortably lit basement with a stark yellow paint job and lots of wood accents. The dining area also extends behind this long room with 2 other smaller intimate dining areas. We took up the far end of the bar area with the sofa's and chairs around a coffee table. It's very cozy.
I started off with a Founders Centennial IPA while looking over the menu. It has a bullish taste (due to the hops in IPA's) with a hint of pine & citrus that was smooth going down.
Since this is a tapas bar we had quite a break down on the menu, I started off with the Sauteed curry chick peas w/ caramelized onions, tomato and pita wedges from the 'Foreshots' portion of the menu. This was a good dish, presentation was outstanding, however not quite as spicy as indicated on the menu.
Next up was 'Middle Cut' portion of the menu and here I found the home run. Shrimp & andouille sausage tossed with penne in a spicy tomato cream sauce, then topped with fresh Parmesan cheese. Presentation was again perfect. Long story short, I would have eaten an entire pot of this had they brought it out. It was so delicious and had a wonderful spicy aftertaste. If you like a spicy meal this dish is is for you!
This was a wonderful meal and every plate I saw come from Still's kitchen was strong presentation. So why 4 stars instead of 5? The service. We had the bartender working with us and another blond haired lady. While they started off strong, they basically disappeared during our meal. We were never offered another round of drinks after dinner nor were we brought our checks, I had to go ask for them. The place wasn't even half full and it was just very poor service on their part. I won't hold it against Still, but I'll probably wait a while before I go back and give the staff time to rotate some new people into it.
Unique, Cozy. What a fantastic little hole in the wall (literally). From the outside coming in it's like stepping into someone's basement. Except, when you see the inside you are completely amazed by the intricate and winding interior. This was the first place I legally bought Absinthe and their food was great!
Give it a try.
Still fabulous!!. Four of us ate dinner at still on Friday and loved it. The Sea Bass 'special for two' was the best Sea Bass either of us had ever eaten and our other 2 friends also enjoyed moules and chicken respectively. Staff were pleasant and inobtrusive. The whole place had a superb funky atmosphere. Wish we hadn't been at the end of a day where we had travelled for 14 hours as we know we would have enjoyed it even more.Great buzz to the place and fabulous food with a 'wow' factor.
I am "Still" thinking about the crab cake & corn ...that was almost 2 weeks ago. I enjoyed each dish that was brought to us during a birthday celebration. (and there were at least 6!) Waitress was very helpful through out the evening and didnt seem to mind the large group. I will be back
Who would have know that little door off Court St would lead to something so good! SupriseSuprise

Hands Down the BEST restaurant in Hampton Roads. This is absolutely the best restaurant in Hampton Roads. I recommend this place to everyone I know. The best bets are the Pepper Seared Duck Breast, Apple-Jack Encrusted Pork Tenderloin, and the Crawfish and andouille sausage tossed with fettuccine in a spicy tomato cream sauce. And my wife would kill me if I forgot to mention the APPLE JACKS encrusted strawberries with bourbon apple caramel. Don't miss out on the finest culinary adventure this area has to offer.

A favorite of mine in Portsmouth, and definitely one of the best reasons to go to/stay in Olde Towne to eat.
Unusual Location, Amazing Food. Even before Fusion 440 morphed into a seafood place, Still was the place to go for the best high-end creative food in P-town. Mike Farrell is a genius. (I've not met him, so this is no plug for a friend.) I have had lunch, dinner and brunch there, each more than once. The food and service has never failed to impress. That said, I'd endure terrible service to eat here if I had to. That's never been the case. Still is a real find for any foodie.
This is the perfect place. Atmosphere is great. Service is wonderful (don't be rushed coming here). The portions are perfect, you won't leave feeling like a beach ball. I'll definately be back!
Simply wonderful. A warm cozy atmosphere with the best comfort food in town. The chef was at Bardo in Norfolk for years. This is my wife and my new favorite restaurant. A bit hard to find but worth the effort!!
“Still” is a great place to get food and drinks. While the place is not cheap, you do receive a higher quality of food for the increase in your bill. The food is wonderful, and the duck tacos are a must any time you decide to visit. Staff are always friendly and the environment is lovely for a night out. Highly recommended stop not just for Portsmouth but all of Hampton Roads.
The setting (speak easy) was really cool, and I love that it's a female-led establishment. My fiancé's duck breast with apple compote, Brussels spirits, and radicchio was thoughtfully composed and delicious with a perfect cook on the duck. My macaroni and cheese (actually using penne rather than macaroni) was a bit bland though. Extensive whiskey menu!
First: I love scallops, probably my favorite dish ever. The scallops here are the best I have ever had. Should have realized it was a small plate place beforehand, we loved the food quality but we were ready to tuck into a big meal after a busy day, and the prices for the small plates can seem high if you set wrong expectations going in. Great time still though
Great place! Still was recommended from a golf buddy. We went to check it out and had a wonder dinner. Great outdoor seating. Good parking and amazing tapas.
Wow. I've been to Still many times now, and it still amazes me how delicious the food is. With covid being so painful to a lot of restaurants, it's so wonderful to be able to go to Still and enjoy myself. The food is always cooked perfectly, and is always tender. The appetizers have even improved since I first started coming about and year and a half ago. I'm very happy to see this place is still crushing expectations. Can't wait to return.
Everything was delicious. Service is tops, attentive but unobtrusive. Fun atmosphere. Felt safe with the Covid precautions put in place.
