Decided to stop here for food out of curiosity. The place was mostly deserted with only a few cars in the lot. When we entered the place, it looked super clean, and staff attended to us efficiently. It was not a super busy hour so we got a booth and got food that tasted great. Lots of nice decorations but the music and tv was not relaxing for me.
What an exceptional treat this was. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was gorgeous. We spoke with the owner and were stunned by his stellar positivity and charm. I'm grateful to have shared the experience and will absolutely be going back.
Wonderful dining experience! The Tom Ka soup is delicious — such an incredible coconut broth! Our three sushi rolls were beautifully plated and had a great blend of flavors. We also tried the new Beef Tataki appetizer — tender and savory. Top off your meal with the mango sticky rice for a very satisfying sweet treat. Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in the area!
Hidden Gem!! We had shrimp tempura rolls, Mt Fuji Roll, Ramen and Singapore noodles and mango sticky rice. Food is delightfully fresh and flavorful, service and ambiance is lovely! Sushi was out of this world outstanding!!
I guess there’s only one waiter. He might be quite busy, but he’s still patient and nice. The food was neither too salty nor too oily.
En Bistro was amazing! The newly renovated/expanded space brings a welcoming feel. The family-run restaurant produced good service and good food for me and 5 others.
I highly recommend this Bistro if you are in the mood for casual dining. Mix of Chinese and Japanese food and great sushi along with friendly staff, makes this place my family’s favorite place for take out. It is Conveniently located in Potomac village. As busy as they are I am surprised they have not expanded yet. I have yet to figure out how to open their Ramune drinks bottle. That is my only complain. Love this place
Food was heat. Servers were nice. Room had good decor.
Robbie is the best server! Ask for him. He is very professional!
I brought my two young daughters here and they couldn't have been more kind or helpful. They gave my toddler a fortune cookie and kids chopsticks when she was being restless. The salmon bento box and chicken lo mein were delicious. I heard the manager on the phone taking pick up orders and I was impressed how he remembered all of the regulars' favorite sushi, gluten free soy sauce etc. It's a small, unassuming place but the food and service get 5 stars.
Enjoyed our visit here - I got a salmon roll and was so appreciative that it was normal sized! We also got shrimp shumai which was amazing. Hubby got General Tso's and liked it, his portion was large. although he said there weren't many veggies and they were on the crisp side of steamed. Everyone was very friendly.
Update:
En-Bistro has simplified their menu, removing a lot of the Chinese entries. I am sure their food is just as good, but if you are looking for their reliable Chinese take-out it is off the menu. Since that was most of what we order for take-out I am a little sad and will have to look elsewhere for it.
Older review:
We dine in (not during COVID!) and take-out here frequently. The order-by-the piece sushi is a notch above and a lot of the kitchen items are great too. Solid quality and reasonable prices. Their delivery is fast and reliable and we have not had nay order mix-ups for all the years we've been ordering. We usually avoid the non-sushi and non-Chinese style menu items as they are prepared differently from our tastes.
I miss dining in their small and cozy dining area. Very homey in a "casual but nice Japanese restaurant" paneled wood kind of way. Elegant service-ware and a convivial sushi bar area. Great neighborhood restaurant.
Sushi here is solid. No need to try the other dishes. The sushi is consistent and affordable. There are no gimmicks and the fish is fresh. I would highly recommend this to people around. It's also in a quiet and small neighborhood, which is nice away from the busy streets of Rockville. Service is friendly and quick!
Great price. Great customer service. I tried the following and they were absolutely amazing with fresh ingredients you can taste:
1) Hawaiian roll
2) Firecracker roll
3) sunrise roll
4) California roll
5) Bagel roll
I will definitely return!!!
This may be my new spot for Chinese food in the area. Got takeout which was ready right when they said it would be. The tuna lover roll was absolutely demolished by my mom, something she rarely does. I was able to sneak in a piece or two and I completely agree. The seared tuna might throw some people off but it was a nice touch for us. I also got to try the Thai Basil Pork and the Steamed Flounder Cantonese Style. Both will go down as the most re-ordered food I get from now on. Just writing this review is making me hungry!
I was actually really impressed with this place. The sushi is exceptional! The rice (an often overlooked component) is perfectly cooked and has the distinct, subtle taste of rice wine vinegar (sushi rice should always be prepared this way). And the quality of the fish is well above average for this area.
This is the best I've had in the DC area by far!
I was in the area after going to the C&O canal and wanted to get dinner before making the trek home. I'm glad we decided on EN bistro. It's a bit hard to find from the road since it is in the back of the shopping center. It's a little small, and gets very busy (understandably, the food is so good). The staff were super polite and attentive, so much so that the owner/manager? brought my good friend some hot water because she was coughing. The food was amazing. I've never had a better futo maki. The Tuna lover roll is an absolute must! The sushi selection isn't huge but what they do make is nothing short of perfect. They get the rice right!! That's so important. They also have really good vegetarian selections. Do not deliberate or question coming to eat here or getting takeout. Do it! It's worth the prices.
