Providence has been an under-the-radar foodie mecca for years and Rogue Island is a perfect example of why Providence is slowly becoming New England's answer to Portland, Oregon when it comes to fresh, local ingredients and craft beers. Rogue Island has everything the foodie could hope for ... amazing menu items made with (mostly) local/sustainable ingredients, a laid-back cozy atmosphere and great selections of beer on draft. (As of this review, they have Lawson's Sip of Sunshine on tap ... enough said.)
There's a little something for everyone here ... from local whiskies/bourbons from New England (lots of 'em!) to a varied collection of draft beers from small breweries all over New England ... and creative mixed cocktails. The menu offers a lot of stuff you don't see anywhere else and is varied so that everyone (carnivores, vegetarians, etc.) will find something to sink their teeth into. Quality and freshness is the name of the game at this place ... so if you are looking for Applebee's-style frozen then microwaved potato skins, look elsewhere.
I just found out they do several brunches per week and will have to come back for one of their themed brunches. (Just missed the Mardi Gras brunch grrr.) The employees here are friendly and knowledgeable. When I encounter a menu and literally everything sounds amazing, I get caught like a deer in headlights. Thankfully, the bartender is great about offering suggestions be it about beer, whiskey or food. (Try the tater tots!)
There's a cool movement going on in Providence and Rouge Island is leading the way. They have their own beer, their own BBQ sauce (which I drive 40 minutes to stock up on) and lots of local fans. Weekends are like a 'foodie clubhouse' here, which is pretty awesome.
I'm a huge fan and although I don't get into Providence as much as I'd like when an airport run isn't involved, I consider Rogue Island a 'must hit' when I am in the city for food, for beer or to pick up some of my favorite BBQ sauce before smoking a brisket or ribs at home. Good location too, right in the vintage style Arcade which always reminds me a bit of London.
Wow. This place was so great. Had brunch here. Bottomless mimosas, chicken and waffles with Mango Passion Fruit and Strawberries. Incredible all around. ChMged my dogs bowl with ice water 3 times. Can’t say enough about how good everything was
Great food, great people, and great service! We chose Rogue Island because they are pup friendly and it was recommended by a friend. We arrived with our pup on the back patio. I let them know we were there, and they offered to bring water out for our pup. When it was clear that it was going to rain (before we ordered), we asked the parking lot attendant at Downcity Parking (across the lot) to watch our dog because we had to dine inside. While we waited for some of our party to arrive, one of the guys at Rogue Island called over to the lot attendant to check on our pup. The staff was very attentive to us and our pup! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this establishment for anyone looking for yummy food and a pup friendly environment. Our pup is a 90lb Boxer and well-behaved. They made us and him feel welcome 😊
Excellent beer selection & great, creative cocktails. Food was phenomenal. Highly recommend the tater tot poutine & bahn mi sandwich. Perfect spot for casual dinner or drinks. Entire staff was pleasant and helpful during our visit. Definitely going back soon!
Loved this place. Ambience is great, relaxed friendly vibe, not ostentatious. Food was on point and the service was great. Great way to support local farms and businesses. I highly recommend. Reservations might be a good idea but our wait wasn’t long. I also love how they partner up with other chefs and showcase their foods.
Rogue Island has the best burger I've come across in Rhode Island hands down, and tater tots, and hot sauce... everything on the menu really! And to top it off such genuinely friendly staff! I definitely make sure to stop by for lunch or dinner once a week it is that lovely of an experience!!
The beer selection is heavenly...the staff friendly and funny, the food is yummy and tasty. It's so great to have a beautiful looking place in the Arcade.
A farm to table treasure of freshness and great service! We had a crepe with balsamic and fresh mozzerella and veggies to start. A Rogue Burger and the Chicken and Waffles daily special which was to die for. We took Raspberry Lime Rickey and a Peanutbutter Cup fresh doughnuts with us for a dessert later on. Rockin!
Excellent service, atmosphere and FOOD! I had a refreshing and just sweet enough lemon/lavender gin cocktail along with the Rouge Burger. The grass fed beef was very tasty and the brioche bun was heavenly. My husband had a shot of bourbon and the Bahn Mi sandwich with tater tots.... he loved it! We will definitely return.
Fantastic food, killer beer list and friendly, knowledgeable staff!
Brunch was solid - Great menu choices and a very extensive beer selection. Don't miss this place - skilled management and staff
Great food, good Bloody Mary’s and an amazing beer list! It was a good time.
From the second I walked in with my girlfriend I was treated like royalty. The host/waitstaff had an amazing charm and made sure every desire was taken care of. Throughout the meal the Manager Bill came by several times to talk and see how everything was from life right on down to the meal. Rare, rare quality these days. As for the food it could not have been better in any way. I would recommend Rogue Island to anyone who will listen - that good folks.
