Great food from a refugee owned restaurant. Aleppo Sweet has some amazing eats from Syria. We had ordered a plate of knafeh yesterday and we loved it so much we had to try more from there. We had Turkish coffee with some fresh fluffy fatayar bread, one with cheese and another with lamb. Also had to order some lamb kabob that was juicy with a hint of spice! We took home a few baklava, pistachio & chocolate!
Great eats! Go check them out!
Delicious food, reasonably priced, beautiful and warm environment. Loved the Turkish coffee and breads. Chicken shawarma was phenomenal! Beautiful interior to spend an afternoon in.
Best Syrian food I’ve had in the US since I moved here. Beautifully decorated place and great atmosphere. Staff is extremely nice and hospitable. Highly recommended.
In A Nutshell:
-Aleppo Sweets is a must-check-out while you are visiting Providence!
-Named after the capital of Syria, you will find this great restaurant close to Brown University in a quaint neighborhood.
-As you walk inside you will be greeted w/ beautiful Arabic music, decor & friendly hello's from the staff who work there.
-There are plenty of seating indoors, plus a small section outside.
-The Chicken Shawarma was the BEST shawarma I've ever eaten! The taste along w/ the crunchiness were so mouth-watering.
-You can also order common Syrian street food such as Fatayer, I really enjoyed the Za'tar spices mixed w/ olive oil & the Aleppo Pepper versions.
-For you meat lovers out there, I also suggest ordering their delicious Chicken Kabob, you get a lot of meat!
-The Turkish coffee is served in an authentic serving container too.
Overall, if you want to try something different in a very casual & friendly atmosphere, you need to stop by Aleppo Sweets in Rhode Island!
My wife is Syrian, from Damascus, and she was so excited to try this place out as she was pretty surprised to find an authentic Syrian restaurant/cafe in the U.S. This place really hit it out of the park and after we tried this place we kept on coming back. Everything we ate was outstanding and the dishes are 100% authentic, my wife confirmed it. The people who are working there were very friendly and welcoming. They treated us like old friends. I highly recommend it, order whatever you want, everything we ate was good.
Finally got to check this place out and was not disappointed! The interior is beautiful and warm, gorgeously decorated. They were incredibly busy for a Sunday night, so there was a bit of a wait for our food, but it was SO worth the wait - especially considering it's just one small family covering all aspects of cooking and serving! Only mentioning so others can plan to spend a little bit of time when they go. We tried only two little plates but were blown away by the generous portions for price and how good the food was. We're already excited to go back and try more things on the menu.
I have a sweet tooth and I never tasted better Baklava than in Aleppo! Best ones were the pistachio and the chocolate one. They have great tea as well. I brought some back to Canada for my family and they complained didn’t I bring it in bulk haha! Can’t wait to visit back again
A little gem in the Fox Point neighborhood 💚 Love Aleppo sweets! The food is delicious and there are lots of good vegan options and there's vegan baklava a couple of days a week do be sure to ask if you're interested! Lots of non-vegan tasty pastries too! Great place to sit and work or meet a friend for lunch or dinner. The falafel is excellent and the lentil soup is, too! Also recommend getting a big pot of ginger cardamom tea to share with a few people - it's so flavorful and warm. Counter service with very kind staff.
