I am a foodie. I am very critical of my food. I am such a foodie that I run an Instagram page dedicated to the places to eat in the Utah valley (tableforyou). Black Sheep Cafe is by far one of the best places to eat in all of Utah. Sometimes it may take 5-10 more minutes than any other restaurant but it is SO worth it. My favorite lunch: the goat burger. My favorite dinner: hog jowl tacos.
I am in Provo for work and I have Celiac Disease, and after doing some research and word of mouth, I came across this wonderful establishment. I was blown away by their friendly staff, Tiffany was our waitress, the knowledge of their plates, Celiac friendly or not and the taste and presentation of the food. Thank you so much!!! Wish I had this in Canton, OH!!

My daughter's love the Bison burger...I had beef enchiladas and they were melt in your mouth delicious...I recommend date night or girls guys night out no children...(just my opinion). Unless they are foodies.
Food was delicious and would recommend this place to family and friends.
The food and service here were excellent.
This little place had some of the best food I have ever tasted!
Highly recommended
Very flavorful menu choices, all creatively prepared. Excellent friendly service.
Great little place to eat!! Even though they were super busy, awesome service and food!
The food was absolutely incredible. The service was fast and kind. The atmosphere was amazing. If you haven't eaten here yet I would highly recommend it!
It was just absolutely delicious. I love the sweet potato fries and the burger I had. Awesome funky dessert as well.
Great food, great service. My wife and I go for special occasions and have always been treated exceptionally well and have been extremely pleased with the food.
David was our server and he was so friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The food is so good. The cactus pear lemonade is LIFE CHANGING. We got a Navajo taco and salad and we were both satisfied. A little pricey so it’s not a cheap lunch but, but it sure is a tasty one
Food was amazing- I couldn’t pick which dish I liked most!! I shared plates with my friend - a delicious pozole with cinnamon fry bread to accompany thick cuts of meat and beans, hog jowl nachos that were just the right amount of spicy, and Bleu’s Fire Grits featuring some sinfully rich grits and shrimp.
Unique. That seems to be the word for this café. Indeed it was.
We made a reservation because we wanted to make sure to get seats with my children who were visiting from out of town. Two couldn't make it. Sad.
Low prices were not on the menu. This is more than your average restaurant. The food did not disappoint and matched the prices.
There aren't a lot of tables so make a reservation or plan on waiting or if you're lucky, there will be open tables.
The food. We started with a $7 piece of honey lavender frybread. Unique flavor. Didn't know you could eat lavender. It's the same frybread used for the Navajo taco.
My son got the bottle of craft root beer. He was surprised to see it was one he can get in the local grocery store where he lives in Idaho. He said it was a pretty good soda.
I got the Navajo taco, green Chile pork. Smaller than I would have expected but the flavors were well received. The wife got the Hog Jowl tacos. Most tender pork we've ever had! Highly recommend just for the meat! My son got the steak tacos. He said they were very delicious and the meat was cooked like it should be.
We all agreed that the side rice was very delicious. The beans were as one should expect. Pretty bland but that's fine with me. I l liked them.
Over all a great experience. Not a place I can afford monthly but for that special occasion, I highly recommend this place!
The food is so good. Get a reservation. A lot of people tried to walk in even though we were there on a Monday night. It has limited seating so use Yelp and get your reservation.
The ambiance is amazing. I loved the chandelier and gorgeous Native American contemporary paintings.
Our server was so friendly and excited to help us.
We ordered green Chile goat cheese queso for our appetizer. It was so delicious. I loved how creamy it was and the fresh made tortilla chips were divine.
For main dish, we got pazole and Navajo taco. The pazole was very flavorful and came with fry bread. The Navajo taco was super yummy with green Chile pork. It was super yummy. The portion was a bit small but it came with rice and beans. The beans were my favorite and the rice was a bit dry.
We loved eating there and it was fun to watch people walk down the street. We saw some people on a "blind date" or at least it seemed that way. Two people were blindfolded and being led down by the street by smiling college kids.
Definitely recommend Black Sheep Cafe and can't wait to come back and try new menu items.
A quaint and busy place to eat. Staffed by local college kids offering fair bit limited serving quality. A premium price for delicious dishes and unique craft beer. The restaurant was a bit warm as the AC struggled to keep up. We were told a 15 minute wait despite 2 tables outside unoccupied and 2 tables inside. The food was worth the inconveniences
I enjoyed their take on a traditional Navajo Taco. The goat cheese queso and chips was fun. The place is decorated very chic but the dining room is way too small. I don't think there is much to do about it but it is what it is. Overall an enjoyable lunch and the service was super.
The food was amazing!! Yes, it's a bit pricey - but the portions and flavors and perfect!
Though not listed they will do kids meal things. Taquitos, burrito or a quesadilla. But when you really think about it it's just tortilla cheese and their choice of meat wrapped up in the way they decide. That being said it was really good.
The problem boiled down to more of the service and the atmosphere.
They are cramming a whole lot of people in there so there's not a lot of room in the tables are rather small.
With all those people they needed more servers. We saw our waitress a total of three times. Wants to take an appetizer order wants to take our main order and wants to give us the bill. So we never got a refill on any of our drinks. Which they charge $4 for..... And all we got was soda.
They also fell to explain extra charges when I was making my order, so there was an additional $10 charge that I had to ask them about and they said they could only remove some of it. Not great.
So come to try the absolutely amazing food. It's going to be a little cramped in there. And don't be afraid to flag down any waitress you see to get what you need otherwise you'll never see them again.
The Black Sheep Cafe was cozy and warm. We went on a Friday night and we got our table quickly.
As our appetizer we got the Lavender Flat bread. It was so good.
For the entree I got the Nickel Burger with the Sweet Potato fries. The fries where amazing and the burger as well. We also got the Jalapeño Margarita which paired so well with the food.
I look forward to going back here and trying more of their menu.
Deliciously prepared food. Great taste and service. Authentic and genuine. Would return in a heartbeat. Loved the lavender honey flatbread and Navajo style Taco’s.
We ordered the hog jowl nachos, sweet potato wedges and the green chili Navajo taco. All three were so tasty. Probably the best west potato fries be ever had. The flavors of the nachos were so unique. It was so good! The Navajo taco had a good amount of meat and so much flavor. I want to go back and try more things.
We went for lunch and they busy but there were still a couple tables open. We were seated by the hostess and sat and waited for quite a while. The table next to us was sat after us and the waiter came and took their order when we hadn’t been helped yet. When the waitress finally came , she was great! It was just strange that it took so long.
The waitress did ask at the end if we wanted dessert. My husband told her it was my bday and she insisted we get a dessert on the house. It was sweet. We tried the brownie which was very good as well! Gooey and chocolatey. We thought the stuff on top didn’t add much flavor but that’s ok.
We were told by friends to try Black Sheep Cafe. It did not disappoint. You have to try the Navajo tacos. They are fantastic. They have different items for lunch and dinner. Some items are the same on both menus. Great friendly service.
Delicious food. Distinct flavors and fresh ingredients. We tried a variety of appetizers and entrees and everything was excellent. Their shrimp and grits is really good, but don't expect it to compare to New Orleans, but pretty close. The Buffalo burgers were fantastic. The cactus lemonade was better than I expected. A great flavor and not too sweet. The place was packed, but our server was on top of everything and the food was served fast which was surprising based on the crowd. We will definitely eat there again.
Went there with my sister from out of state, she randomly picked this place to avoid any big chain restaurants. Blown away, food was really, finished out the week sampling Provo/Orem....we wish/wondered why we didn't just go there....added to my lunch rotation. Anything Green Chile and you'll be just fine!.... margarita on point as well... actually don't go there haha gotta keep it not packed. ;)
Overall we had an excellent experience. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were delicious and unique. There wasn't a long wait to get seated or to get out food. The sweet potato fries were out of this world.
Always great food and service here. Personally this is my go to spot to take people for celebration meals. Feels nice but relaxed still.
Black Sheep is one of my favorite restaurants in Provo! We would always come here for special occasions and were never disappointed! Everything is delicious, and I would particularly recommend anything with hog jowls (tacos and nachos)!
I was waiting 2 years to be back in town to eat here again. I was literally singing as I ate my food- so freakin' flavorful, indulgent, and unique. The cheesiest grits I've had in my entire life, the chile queso should be anyone's last meal. Only sad I never have room for their creative desserts. Next trip! Go now!
Food was an experience! Gotta order the lavender honey fry bread. We ordered the hog jowl nacho, filet mignon bruschetta, the black sheep wedge, green chili stew, and more along with a yanabah Navajo tea and cactus pear lemonade. If I come back again, since I'm from across the Pacific, I would order the wedge, bruschetta, bread and lemonade. For 3 people, we ordered way too much, but we shared our plates. That's how we do things!
