This is one of our favorite Korean restaurants around, but come early as food is cooked fresh and can take time. The Korean seafood pancake small dish/ appetizer is always good. We had the spicy pork and octopus and beef soup which both tasted great. They do give you give sides with your meal which are good. Recommend coming here if you have time.
I would’ve given this place a five star review if the prices were a little bit less, especially for a quick lunch. The portions were actually very adequate and I really liked the flavor of both the spicy and the sweet meat. The service was also good but when the rush of lunch got there it was a little bit harder to get your drinks free filled. Overall it was a good experience. I would go back and have lunch here again.
Very good Korean food. They recently moved from a store in the same complex, but this new spot has a lot more space. Wait times were a little long but nothing unbearable by any measure. The food is always fantastic and the waitress/host was very nice and attentive. I’d say it’s the best Korean around.
Came with family that likes to come here for New Year's Eve. Service is usually slow but we showed up without pre-ordering like they usually do. Mistake. It took an hour to get our food. We noticed a group of 8 where one guy got his food around the time everyone else was already done eating.
Was it worth the wait? Oh yeah. Apparently they usually have more workers but tonight, no one wanted to work.
You have a number of side dishes to go with the meat you choose. We got a couple different porks and a chicken. You can put it in a lettuce leaf with the sides to make a lettuce wrap or eat it straight from the pan.
The food was very good and would give a highly recommend if they would hire more people. One server doesn't cut it.
The food was amazing and in genorous quantities. We read about the wait time prior to visiting, so we called ahead about 20 minutes and when we arrived, we only had to wait another 5 or so before all three of our dishes came out. Had a very good first experience!
The food is good overall, but the sides aren't my favorite. The service is pretty good, but if it's busy, it may be a little slow, because Sam Hawk is a tiny family restaurant. But they do a good job. They don't have a huge selection on the menu, but the food they make is good.
This is, without a doubt, the best Korean restaurant in Utah county! All the food is amazing, no matter what you order. Their soondubu jjigae has quickly become one of my favorite things for comfort food. My only complaint is that they usually have a long wait time— this is not a quick stop for food. That being said, it’s ALWAYS worth the wait!
I had to give this place a review.
The food quality is what you expect at any five star restaurant.
I don’t know what was better, the service by Shane or the food.
I’m a food connoisseur and I can’t believe I hadn’t tried this restaurant yet.
Will continue to come often.
Thank you!
So authentic & so good!! Our lunch before getting out of town tasted just like Korea. Plus amazing service. Go Sam Hawk!! I’ll be back for sure.
Priced at average of $14 per plate. More if you order drinks other than water.
Food was very good, but the wait for it was very long - I'd say about 40 to 45 minutes after we ordered 2 plates. They bring you vegetable sides before the meal, in the way that other restaurants bring bread or rolls. These seem to be fairly unlimited. However, we didn't get ours until maybe 5 minutes before our food was served. It would have been good to have them sooner to make the long wait less of a hungry, sad time.
Once we received our meal, the service was super attentive, but up until that point, not so much. They took our order quickly, and brought our water in a fair amount of time, but there was a distinct feeling of wondering if they had forgotten about us in-between ordering and eating.
4 stars is a round up from what I would like to rate this place - 3.5 stars. Food was delicious, vegetable sides were very good, and entrees were perfectly seasoned. Service was lacking and the wait was rough for us. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, but Friday nights seem like the night to impress your guests to me or at least have enough staff to make them feel good while they're waiting. I don't want to come down hard on these guys; they were kind, helpful people. However, I did feel neglected for nearly an hour.
I've been coming to this place for 15 years now. I love the food, so delicious! But, the customer service is severely lacking. They don't have enough help- I always wait at least one hour for food when I come. In fact, i would say an hour is average, and often it's a longer wait... So don't come expecting quick food. I really wish they'd hire more help and expand, I really think they are hurting their business by not doing this! Lately, I've been considering finding a new Korean place because I'm so dissatisfied with the slow service... But the food is so good!
Korean food is delicious, but Korean food in Utah is notoriously bad. This place is the exception, because it's great! They have really awesome Korean food, and it's really similar to what you get in Korea. They have plates of very tasty meat, but it's a little smaller than most American restaurants, so you might need to get two plates. But the seasonings are awesome, and I think you'll love it.
The food here is delicious! Customer service and wait time however, are pretty lousy. We’ve sat at our table for 20+ minutes on multiple occasions before being brought our waters or any of their appetizers. If you can, go earlier in the day when they’re less busy because they take forever to bring out your food. Fortunately, the food is so good I can overlook the long wait!
This might just be my new favorite place to eat. I recently became interested in Korean culture and my husband agreed to visit a Korean restaurant with me. Going here was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent and the waiter was very kind. Like others have said though, they're a bit slow, which is the only reason I didn't give them five stars. When we went there was only one waiter who was running around getting all the customers taken care of. He did a great job, but you could tell he was rushed and some things slipped through the cracks (we didn't get any napkins). Aside from that though, we loved it. Definitely going there again, though perhaps not at dinner time.
The food tasted very good and you get a good size. I got a soup with dumplings and it was able to fill me up really well. I also got to try the Chicken and Pork Bulgogi which my friends ordered and they had a lot of great toppings for those. Both delicious! I don't believe they support Google Pay yet, but hopefully that can be added soon!
