I've been working in Raleigh area for about three weeks now on a large project. Found Bittersweet on Yelp and decided to give it a try...
I've been back 3 times... Yes, it's that good.
Cocktails, coffee and dessert. How can you go wrong!? Wait a second, let me back that up. Superb cocktails made by talented bartenders from top shelf liquors. Rich, aromatic coffee from fresh ground beans, and flat-out Gorgeous desserts... Ok that's closer.
I can personally vouch for the Apple bacon cobbler, and give it a top rating. Sweet, savory, and rich with great Apple and spice flavor set off by the crunchy, salty, porky goodness of crumbled bacon.
Having said that... IMO, the Salty Chipwich Ice Cream Sandwich is even better! 2 Sea salt, chocolate chip cookies with a layer of creamy, vanilla ice cream between them, then rolled in bourbon, caramel corn... Yes please! Crunchy yet chewy, crisp yet creamy, perfect balance of salt and sweet. So nice in fact that I came back and ordered it again!
So, try a great cocktail from their top notch selection. Enjoy a coffee. Indulge in a dessert. Whatever you do, get in here and try it. Say hi to Kim, it's her place and she and the whole crew are doing it right!! 5-stars!
I had a great experience at Bittersweet! I went in on a Sunday, watched Walking Dead on their big tv, ate a delicious jalapeño quiche, washed it down with a hot alcoholic coffee concoction made by the awesome bartender Duke and finished my night with a beautifully crafted s'mores dish. I'd recommend this place to anyone!! Very intimate and unique.
We had spent the evening wandering around Raleigh we stopped at a place called The Raleigh Times and had some drinks and hors d'oeuvres . The waiter there recommended bittersweet so we ended our night at Bittersweet ,with some drinks , cookies, creme brulee . We had a wonderful wonderful time . I had the Irish coffee just as good as what I drank in Ireland . But I'll tell you what the espresso Martini was the best !!! plan on coming back.

We walked in looking for coffee on the Fourth of July. We found great food & service. Very cool concept with yummy, different desserts & a huge bar.
I don't get to Bittersweet as often as I'd like, but they never disappoint! They are always super nice and friendly. This morning I had iced coffee and a Morning Glory (?) muffin. Let me tell you, I'm not a fan of raisins, but this was absolutely delicious and my coffee was amazing!
The concept of this place is great to begin with, the neutral colors and open air really make it inviting. Relaxing place to be with great staff, and the James Joyce is perfect!
Zack is the sweetest! We love this place. The desserts are fabulous, and the staff is fun to hang with. Perfect spot for good conversation, good music, and good vibes. ❤️
Excellent desserts and drinks. Nice place to finish the evening out.
I love Bittersweet! The service was fantastic, and the bartender made the best drinks!! The Bad Santa with a toasted house-made marshmallow was delicious!! It is my new favorite winter drink .
The blueberry yum yum was very yummy.
Our server was very helpful. They do to go orders.
What can I say the staff was great and ready to help. The drinks were awesome! The desserts!! Can't go wrong. Finish with a coffee. This was a great place. Easily gets packed so be patient. Thanks guys!! We'll bring a bigger crowd bevy time

Amazing Homemade Almond Milk Chai Latte and a Cheese Plate to beat just about anyone else. The Gluten free Chocolate Mousse with Hand whipped Cream.......delicious. Such a great place!
Excellent place..great vibe and awesome cocktails.
We met as a small group at Bitterswert and had an amazing experience. Right away I loved the menu such fun choices for the holidays!! The drinks were good and desserts out of this world. We all tried some of each others and all were amazing. Can't wait to come back here, just make sure to get here early in the evening if u come on the weekend
Desserts and coctails were lit.
Had the seasonal Firelog dessert and carrot cake cupcake. The fire log was a healthy portion enough for 2! Cupcake was moist and tastey the buttercream = excellent. To drink had chia expresso martini and the dude
Wow, wow, wow!!!!! What a great place to end an evening! Drinks are off the hook! I tried the 5 shots, each was unique and tasty. We tried so many desserts I'm sure I'll get a cavity! Each dessert was thoughtfully created and had such unique flavors. From a simple rice crispy treat to a complex smores, everything was perfect! This place gets super busy late night so be prepared to wait. But it's SOOOOO worth it! You must be 21 to experience this dessert extravaganza late night. Kids are welcome earlier in the day so check ahead before bringing the littles.
It was a warm Friday evening. After a delicious dinner, we were in the mood for both dessert and a drink, in came Bittersweet.
A unicorn of a restaurant/bar, a dessert bar. They do not take reservations and are always slammed, so be prepared to wait or get lucky if no one is in town.
They have all types of cocktails and desserts. Their key like pie, pecan pie, espresso martinis, are all amazing.
Good spot.
I went with a group of friends so we ordered several things and nothing disappointed. One dessert between two people would fill you up…but you’ve got to get one each to share, just because there are so many options to try!
I visited Bittersweet as part of a walking food tour of Raleigh, and the next time I am in town I will definitely be back.
Bittersweet is a cocktail, dessert and coffee lounge with a unique menu of baked goods and cocktails with a very robust bar (they specialize in gin!) It is a cute little place and the atmosphere is fantastic. We got to chat with the owner's husband who shared that they promote themselves as a cocktail bar first solely due to the fact that most people associate bakeries with early morning hours, and they are not earlybirds here. Bittersweet opens in the afternoon and serves customers throughout the evening and honestly - I love that. It's a wonderful concept.
As part of our food tour, we were given a dark chocolate and sea salt chocolate chip cookie and a cinnamon carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting. Both were phenomenal and I was tempted to order more. I also had the Painkiller shot which was perfectly mixed and obviously delicious.
Perusing their menu makes me automatically want to visit again. The cocktail offerings are unique and enticing. The dessert options sound amazing. And again the bar - it's stocked with booze and as I said, they specialize in gin. If you love gin, you'll be at home here. Just check out their menu!
The location is right in downtown and is easy to walk to. They don't take reservations and the space itself is relatively small, so plan accordingly. Highly recommend if you are visiting Raleigh!
My first time at Bittersweet was great! I enjoyed my drinks and the atmosphere was enjoyable! The mixologist Cameron was amazing he made the experience even better! I will definitely become a regular here!
Bittersweet is my favorite cocktail bar downtown and is definitely in the running for my favorite cocktail bar in Raleigh. They have an extensive list of house craft cocktail creations from boozy old fashioneds to mild spa-waters and everything in between. Their selection of Gin might be the best in the triangle. You can go on Gin safari with Gin and Tonic. Literally a shot of the Gin of your choice a glass of ice, a lime wedge and a bottle of tonic. I have found several new Gins I like this way. Sniff and sip the Gin by itself, then make my own GnT as strong/weak as I like. Bittersweet also has a great selection of visually beautiful and delicious desserts including a rotating selection of house made pies. It’s just a great place to grab a drink and something sweet anytime or after dinner at any of the nearby restaurants.
Easily a Raleigh favorite for desserts and cocktails. I came for the mocha vanilla latte with whip, which was very delicious. I had the beautiful mess. The cake was beautiful and delicious. There’s usually a line outside on weekends.I did dinner first then came, so I didn’t mind waiting. Highly recommend.
Bittersweet is a great cocktail bar! Their drinks are so good and the customer service here is spectacular! I will definitely come back again.
