What a beautiful place! We had the Phenomenal Fries for an appetizer which were delicious. I had chicken pot pie and my husband had the fish and chips. Both were great. We took our coconut cake and peanut butter dessert to go. Yum! Our server was Ryan who did a great job! Thanks! We will be back with friends!

In Reading for a conference and looking for a place to eat in the city, found The Speckled Hen and was very pleasantly surprised at the quaint atmosphere and excellent menu. The drink and on tap choices were great! Food came hot and was delicious. Only curious thing was how empty the restaurant was, it should have been packed for how good everything was!

Everything was beyond our expectations! As always! From making a reservation, being seated, recommendations on the menu, knowledge from the staff to the end result of our absolutely delicious meal. So incredibly satisfied. We will return sooner than later!

A small, pub like setting. The food is excellent and a nice but not big beer selection. St Patty's day theme included bangers and mash, fish and chips, Scotch eggs, and Shepherds' Pie.

I was looking for a place in Reading to go to with some folks visiting from out of state and wanted to treat them to either Penna. Dutch cuisine or dinner in a landmark or historic building. Speckled Hen ended up really hitting the mark! How often do you get to dine in an 18th Century log cabin? Not only was the character of the building exactly what I was looking for, the dishes were worth driving from Pottsville for. Many standard pub favorites like bangers and mash, but prepared so well as to be exceptional. I had the Devonshire pork pie, which was a unique item you don't see on a lot of menus and it was divine, the broth was so flavorful and I could've eaten the lovely, moist buttery crust by itself. The Scotch egg starter was well done too, not dry or overcooked. Definitely will want to come here again and soon!

I'm giving you five stars! All of my friends who have been there said they just absolutely love the place, and I'm going to try to make up for all the idiots who said they love the place and gave you four stars.

A gem of a cottage in downtown Reading. Dim lighting and a fire burning make me feel like i am in the Scottish Countryside. The food was nice. The wedge salad was fantastic. The Scotch egg makes a nice salad protein. Fantastic service and live music. Garlic fries... way too much of what I assume was garlic oil.

We were amazed when we arrived not knowing anything about this gem in the middle of downtown Reading. This 18th century establishment is awesome and the food and staff is absolutely top notch in every way. We cannot wait to return!!

First time visiting here. Pleased to say, not disappointed! Greeted by Judy the owner of this quaint pub/cottage type setting who made you feel right at home as she built a fire in a real fireplace! Wait staff very friendly. Quality of menu selections were excellent! Next visit we're eager to dine upstairs at Judy's on Cherry!

Delicious food! Atmosphere is amazing! Drinks are great. Cannot say enough great things about the Speckled Hen. Ambiance is so unique, wood burning fireplace... perfection! Cozy in an urban setting. Give it a go!

I kept seeing commercials on tv and thought I want to eat there. The place is beautiful inside and out. Warm atmosphere. Our server was Shelby. She was awesome! Polite, kind, and attentive. My Fiancé and I ordered the Pub Burger and the Flat Iron Steak. It was served exactly how we ordered and it was delicious! For dessert we had the Warm Apple Crisp with Home Made Cinnamon Ice Cream. Again delicious! I can't wait to go back!
