Great place that understands Italian food (KISS method, keep it simple stupid the Italians do). Plenty of flavor to go around in the dishes we had: calamari (cooked well, not chewy), tomato caprese, chicken con lemon, chicken rustica, and risotto (just right). The service was wonderful and accommodating from the host stand onwards. Yes, this should be a given, but of late this has not been the case at all restaurants we have visited. The transition from the bar to the table was seamless. This is a hidden gem from those who live in Sugar Land and venture inwards for a good meal at a non chain restaurant. We will certainly be back sooner rather than later.
Side Note: Gluten free pasta available. The server even came to let us know that my dish had gluten even though it was my wife who order glu-free pasta. Nice touch.
We took the go cart from my brother’s house, and they have go cart specific parking up front. Everyone was super nice, especially our waitress. Happy hour is until 6:30, and they have good deals. The lemon drop is their speciality. They serve bread and oil to everyone. I had the shrimp risotto, and it was delicious. This is the perfect neighborhood restaurant.
Lomonte’s has nice ambience, and great service. Do come early as the crowd comes in fast from the time they are open.
Simple and plain bread was served as a complimentary starter. My party ordered calamari fritti, Greek salad, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, scampi lomonte, and scallops risotto as entrées. We ended our meals with a New York cheesecake, a tiramisu, and a chocolate decadence.
The calamari fritti was crispy and done well. The spicy sauce that came with it was perfect. I prefer the spicy sauce to the marinara sauce. The Greek salad was a good portion for one. The vegetables were fresh. The fettuccine Alfredo was creamy and was a great sauce. Everything was right on the plate. The scampi lomonte had so many fresh ingredients on it, all cooked to perfection. Lastly, the scallops risotto was super good. The scallops were cooked and seasoned beautifully. The risotto was made well. Absolutely love it.
The desserts were as great as the entrées. New York cheesecake was soft, cheesiness to perfection, and the strawberry sauce was a perfect touch to the cheesecake. The tiramisu was soft, but not much coffee taste. It would be better if the slightly bitter coffee taste was present. The contrast would make the dessert more yummy. The chocolate decadence was awesome. The alcohol level was just right. Though I don’t get the idea of having whipped cream at the top, it looked good visually.
Overall this restaurant is good for a family causal dinner. Looking forward to dining here again.
